Squat lumbar extension

  • Are you going into lumbar extension at the start of your squat?! This can lead to many issues and is not going to be optimal for handling load. We first need to understand WHY it is happening. The two most common reasons it tends to happen are:
    1.Chest up leading to poor hinge mechanics. We need to let ones chest hinge forward.
    2.Poor breathing patterns leading to a lack of IAP being built and spine stability jeopardized.
    Once we understand why it is happening we can make strides to fix it thus decreasing injury risk and improving our ability to handle load.

    Wow I had no idea! I was squatting 600 pounds but I could only do it if I pushed my rear back. Turned out I was so strong in e glutes that it was dominating the movement. Since correcting I’ve gone down to 315 again, but I feel better after squatting
