    Damn this was a time when it looked like people in NJ were happy despite the situation. Today everyone would honk their horns and yell.

      Or people would be on edge as their phones would need to be charged and they can’t charge them

      +Bad Drivers of Central NJ Notice the lorry driver, who said, "I'm getting paid" with a smile...nowadays he'd be fuming because 30% of his pay or free time, which hasn't gone up by much since then, is dependant on whether he makes his deliveries quickly.

      wwhhee your life didn’t end if you couldn’t contact your work or family within a short amount of time. Disasters or inconveniences were handled like “good, I have an EXCUSE to have a break”.
      You gotta think it was still a modern world fast paced but there wasn’t the kind of competition with every day people - especially working poor - who are currently in danger of losing their job caught up in an incident like this no matter how widespread the story.

      Because they wont go homeless from missing a day of work unlike the 60% of anericans who will literalky go homeless and die of they miss a singular paycheck.

    This was in 1988 - wow! Times have changed since then - except for the turnpike, of course. It still gets jammed at times due to accidents. And most of those cars are probably in junkyards now. Did I just see a Chevy Nova? I saw a Ford Escort hatchback and an Omni-derived Dodge Charger (formerly Omni 024).

      No, it was an asphalt truck that overturned further up the road, it's in the description.

    Since this is a toll road do you think these drivers got their tolls refunded? Clearly they didn't get the service they paid for...

    • @bullmantube
      @bullmantube  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, we didn't get a refund!

    • @Scambush
      @Scambush 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah so I assume you never made it to the power plant that day? Given you didn't film up to when this traffic jam ended it seems like you ran out of film.

    • @bullmantube
      @bullmantube  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We did miss our appointment. And, yes, the batteries in the camcorder were dead.

    • @Scambush
      @Scambush 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Damn. The fact that you remember the details 29 years later must mean this was a day you'd never forget. I can never imagine being in a traffic jam like this (been in a couple cases where no one was moving for a little while but it wasn't to the point we were all out of our cars).

    why dont they just call the people theyre supposed to pickup on their cellphones and tell them theyre going to be late?

    • @bullmantube
      @bullmantube  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It was 1988. I don't think many of the folks had cellphones.

    • @Scambush
      @Scambush 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don Bull I'm sure there was a Dyna-Tac or two among those motorists. Non-transportable car phones too.
      Not that such a call would have been cheap by any means.

    • @honorbluelovelyful
      @honorbluelovelyful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      lol good one....car phones weren't even that common then...mostly businessmen had them....they even had fake ones that ppl would buy to pretend they had one.
