    Joel, Joel, Joel, listen to me for a second you and a couple of other people is half of my inspiration for 3D printing. I love what you do and how you do it you do an amazing job don't ever stop. but I want you to know my four-year-old I was sitting on my lap when I started this video and now he thinks you have super powers which is awesome but when you said help me he sat straight up threw his arms out started grunting just like you and full on 100% helped you pull that tower out of the desk which is absolutely fantastic when your video was done he looked at me and said dad I had to help him. he is always asking me if my robot can make him something and now you are his superhero don't ever stop. we live in the state just below you and if we ever get that way I would love to shake your hand. :)

      Your comment has easily made my day! Please tell your 4-year-old that it was very specifically his help that made that tower appear. I really hope one day we do get to shake hands, my friend!

    I think what people forget when it comes to Kickstarter it that basically all of the ones for 3d models follow through compared to the ones for printers

    • @Mikowmer
      @Mikowmer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's also significantly less wait times. So it's a lot harder to just run away with the money before people start the charge backs.
      In fact, most Kickstarters that are either digital only or have a digital only tier tend to follow through a lot more than ones that are solely physical.

    While I like some raw prints, I also love the look of a well designed and printed part with a good point job. With that said, this would be a great crossover with someone who paints scenics. If you don't have someone, hit up Danny from 3D Printed Tabletop and see who he suggests. Let the painter pick which one to paint!

    I would recommend painting the large tower. However I would go all out to paint and weather the model to a prop level. Using drybushing and inks could make this something awesome like a WETA style miniature....

    what might be cool is if u literally cut the model in half, so u can see the infill inside, but colour the outside of the model. so when u turn it around you can see the hole print processes of the model, like the colours infill and inside of the model. so it shows the amazing printing tech as well as the amazing finishes u can get.

    Honestly, It would be really cool have one kept apart to see the ingenuity of how parts can be made to fit together like that. Also, what if exchangeable parts were made for the tower to change the environment of where the tower is at (for the base). And maybe it doesn't have to be an observatory but a watchtower?! It could be really cool to see parts made to make the tower like a building that teleports to different locations as though a mage lived in it to move around the world. OR.... The tower is alive with magic and changing locations at will. Dunno that was my take on what to do with it from a fantasy-like vision on the tower.

    Your prints look great. I have a question, perhaps you can help. I have an x1 and it doesn't appear to extrude as it should. I've checked the tensioner, and various other things. When i check the amount of extrusion, I mark out 200mm and then heat up to 210 (PLA) and then manually hit the 10mm extrude button 20 times but it seems to only extrude about half way to my mark...??? I put on a new tensioner arm a few months ago that is metal, bearing are good. I get blobs sporadically dropping onto the build and all over the print in random places. Thanks...

    No glue on either, leave the small one as is, paint the large one.
