It could be that Ex 13:15 (I sacrifice to the LORD all the males that first open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem) is the heart of the matter. It is echoed in the warning of God to Pharoah (Ex 4:22, "Israel is my son, my firstborn") - fulfilling a promise to Abraham who was willing to sacrifice his own miraculous firstborn son Isaac through Sarah. It points to the future redeeming sacrifice of a miraculous firstborn son Jesus through Mary. Opposed to this we have unwilling Pharoah with hardened heart whose firstborn son will be sacrificed. In a peculiar way, the whole of scripture is about the death of a male that first opened the womb.
I think there’s a typo in the video title (3 vs 13). Great stuff today, guys! Thanks for the insight.
Oh thanks! Fixed it.
