    Have you tried a Supply Razor? What do you think?

  • @MarkWilliams-gw5kl

    The 2.0 was my first dive in to traditional wet shaving. I tried, I really did. I was definitely a work in progress. I tried to hone my technique, and as much as I tried, even with the mildest plate, I filleted my face. I loved the razors heft, and also the no BS warranty. If you didn’t like it get your money back. Their customer service was awesome to work with. I tried for a good two months, and just pulled the plug. Now that I am seasoned so to speak, I would like to try it again, and may now that they have that guard on the razor. Thanks for posting the review

    Greg...you are killing it. I loved this one. I backed the Pro instead of the SE because I assumed it would be milder than I'd like. I may still get it because of how much I like the Pro and honestly, it's a heck of a razor for the price and sometime I just want to do an easy mode shave. I also did not use the 2.0 so I have no basis for comparison except for my vintage ones. My favorite vintage is somewhere between the Type G and M adjustable and the Pro is definitely my favorite modern and possibly favorite overall injector.
    I have to say though, as far as easy mode goes, I just got a Henson AL13 medium and it's silly how easy that razor is to use. Automatic, no-irritation BBS. Like you mentioned with getting carried away, I was being borderline idiotic today with how little care I put into angle and pressure, had zero irritation, and still have a perfect BBS.
    Sorry for the wall of text but you got me all fired up lol. I really enjoy what you are doing and I'm going to hold you to picking your brain for production tips. I'm looking forward to the next video. Thanks for this one and have a great day! -Eric Adams

    I participated in the Kickstarter campaign and recently got this razor. I really like the razor! For me, it's at the perfect spot between smooth and efficient. It feels substantial in hand. I like it better than the other injector razor I own (Stick Schick).
    I've been wet shaving since 2007, so the appeal of the razor certainly isn't limited to new converts from cartridge razors.

    Am I the only one who hasn't gotten a "Supply' razor this week? It appears this is the latest and greatest for the shaving world, at least for the moment. I agree with Ibrahim about leaving the blade in the razor, as I always remove and clean the blade, put it back in the paper wrapper, and stick it to magnets I have on the rim of my medicine cabinet, ready for the next use. With my shavettes I clean and dry the blade and reinstall since they don't have wrappers, just for safety purposes.

    Great video Greg as always. My only worry with this razor is that you have no other choice but to keep the blade in the razor for subsequent uses until you change. I don't like keeping blades in razor after I am done. Can the blade be removed manually after use without having to replace with a new blade?

    • @GregTardif
      @GregTardif  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you could get it out. There’s a knob at the top of the handle that can loosen the retainer bit. I know some people remove them from the vintage schick razors after each use. So I don’t see why this would be any different. I’ll try it out and report back

  • @Kenoji8
    @Kenoji8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I actually had to ship my Supply razor back. Honestly, though, because of their advertising for the Supply 2.0, I never would have discovered any of these new shaving products (like DE razors and straight edge razors) or this great shaving community. But around the time that I got a Supply razor, I also got a Rockwell 6C and was testing both side by side. In the end, the Rockwell won out because of the various plates for blade gap / aggression, ease of use and being able to change out plates easier, and the greater variety of DE razorblades available compared to injectors. Plus, the Supply razor nicked me considerably a few times even on the lowest setting and with newer Schick blades, so I just packed it up and shipped it back to them today. The Rockwell razor system, however, has been great and I decided to order a 6S because I wanted to see how the stainless steel affects my shave. But yeah, switching to razorblade shaving through these products has been life changing for me, so I owe a lot to the Supply company for just making me more aware of what was out there apart from cartridge blades and straight razors.

    • @GregTardif
      @GregTardif  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Yeah Supply is the gateway shaver I think. That and maybe the KCG. I’m glad it brought you here to the community and I’m sorry you got nicked you up. Was that the 2.0?

    • @Kenoji8
      @Kenoji8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GregTardif -- Yes, it was the 2.0. Don't get me wrong though; there were times that I got a great shave with the Supply blades starting off. But over time even with a newer blade, it just nicked me a bit more than I would have liked and I was just using the medium plate and with light pressure, not pressing it hard against my face or anything. I know when I switched over to the Schick blades, though, it really cut me up, and that's what did it, honestly. At least on the Rockwell I could go to a R1 or R2 plate and back off if need be, but not so much for the Supply even at the mild setting.

    I picked up the new supply pro today and shaved with it. Not really sure if I’m a massive fan but definitely nice to shake up the weekly shave with an SE and the new black blades are bloody great! But compared to the 2.0 (the og) the build quality seems a little different also (noticed the mirror finish doesn’t seem as clean compared to the Matte finish

      @GregTardif  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting thoughts. I know supply offers a base plate swap for the 2.0 to have the SE (non pro) base plate as well. I never did get my hands on the pro or the 2.0 but I like mine for what it is. Those blades are great. If you have a type e or older schick I DON’T recommend trying to put the key in those razors (btw)

    What did you think about that little knob/button on this Supply SE? I think that button is great to just remove the part to of the razor’s head to clean the inside, which is convenient, but I’m not crazy about how the turning of the button/knob feels. It’s not a smooth turn that comes to a stop, turning it doesn’t feel good quality. How long is that spring on it going to last? And it’s hard to tell when you should stop tightening it and know when you should stop tightening it.
    What were your thoughts about that?
    And can you use regular double edge razors to pop in half and insert in this Supply Co. SE Razor?
    Thanks:)

      There are a lot of shave soaps you can try. Basically you swirl a shaving brush around on the puck of shave soap. You can rub the brush in circular motions to build a lather. It’s pretty fun and a lot of makers and scents to choose from.

    Broski you have to pick your lady up the Gillette lady starburst razor I got mine in blue. Now I originally seen this on eBay and seen the 🌟 on it and was like that’s 🔥 for some reason my head started thinking military and I’m a Veteran so it spoke to me. Well with how a second thought I pulled on it right away. The. As I’m waiting I do some research and find out it’s a lady’s so I’m like whatever I’ll give it to the wife. Well now we fight over it because it lines my beard up nicely. She hides it sometimes 😂 not going to lie my legs are butter smooth also. 😂 only issue is that it’s light 😢 lighter not super.

      Haha that’s a good thought. She has recently switched between a cartridge razor and electric shaver 🤦‍♂️

    Eight shaves? I can get 30 out of a Harry’s blade.

      I "could" get more but 8 is the recommended. Harry's also recommends between 6 and 8 shaves per blade.

    More of a DE guy but looks an interesting razor but don't think it's for me, I'd be so bad at loading it 🤣
