While he does make some good points, I disagree as an assessment of the totality of his comments. He acknowledges that taking over a building puts them in a disciplinary context, and that they understand that. Part of that process is being forcibly removed as trespassers and arrested, and they should understand that too. The University was incredibly tolerant and lenient with them; but ultimately, actions have consequences.

I didn't see any police at Columbia with "guns drawn". Protest all you want and say whatever you want. just don't setup encampments, don't harass or restrict the movement of other students. And don't generally disrupt the campus. Then there's no need for the police, and in the majority of case, the police have stayed away from those campuses.

    AMERICA & ACCOUNTABILITY - 2024 ???
All are accountable to the judgment of time
And when we die without truth our sadness never ends.
By the deepest longing of our heart, mind and soul
We serve our Lord, homeland, family and friends.
With accountability we apply life’s wisdom
Guidelines to promote a moral life.
We receive our fame by our demeanor
As we struggle through ridicule and strife.
All through history up to today
Our chronicle of life is accountability.
Evil is a beast feasting on souls
Corrupting man with greed, hate and disability.
Always stay mindful of what must be done
With purpose, determination, prayer and accountability.
Giving our best to protect and preserve
A life of freedom, faith, love and stability
    With honor we obtain uprightness
And by love and compliance we gain grace.
    Credibility gives us proper goals
Improving the standard of our race.

While all Universities and Colleges have their own police force, those forces all small in size and not equipped/trained for this type of policing. When the problem rises to this level, the local city police need to be called in. It actually ends up being safer for everyone. An unruly crowd is more likely to physically resist a small group of police, and an overwhelmed group of police is more likely to resort to deadly force out of fear. A large police presence eliminates both of those dangers.

I agree! The Jews are the only group whose rights and safety it's "OK" to ignore. Israel is the only country my fellow liberals want to divest from, while the world is full of a rogues gallery of serial rights abusers. An unruly protest targeting people of color, women or members of the LGBTQ+ community would never have been given this much leeway, and they shouldn't. The Jews are entitled to be treated as humans with equal dignity, like everyone else. As a liberal, this whole thing is embarrassing; it's shameful.

Witnessing these students in tears as they are arrested for protesting against genocide is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Remember back in 4th grade, when we first learned the solemn vow of "Never Again" in response to genocide? We've carried that lesson through life, reaffirmed by educators time and again. Now, faced with the reality of genocide, these brave young individuals are standing up to ensure we honor that pledge. Tears are a small price to pay for justice. We must stand united and resolute in our efforts to end genocide and hold those responsible accountable. Let's turn our collective outrage into action and ensure that we truly mean "Never Again.

With all the chants for "free free Palestine" have any of these students stopped to envision what a "free Palestine" would actually look like. Would it be a democratically elected government that respects the opposition? Would there full freedom of religion, speech, and representation in government and society in general? Would there be fair representation for all minorities including LGBTQ and would women be able to fully participate in society and work if they choose? Would they have a government that values peace with its neighbors as their main goal?
Lets look at all the other predominately Moslem and Arab countries not only in the region but the entire world for some clues. How many have any level of respect for individual liberty, freedom of religion or freedom from religion, governments embracing minority groups, respect for and living in peace and understanding with their neighboring countries? Can we use Syria or Yemen as a model? How about Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, or Afghanistan for that matter? Egypt or Lebanon?
The Palestinian people have shown 3/4 of a century of being their own worse enemy turning away from one compromise after another and when given the chance a murderous infighting between Hamas and the PA not to mention always resorting to violence to further their goals. What governments they have do not respect their own people, preventing free elections and using them as sacrificial pawns in a massive propaganda camping to demonetize the other side.
If they had taken a more reasonable and peaceful path with the willingness to compromise and control some of the more base passions that all humans have they would have long ago had their own nation, self determination and peace and prosperity.
