'Heartbreaking on so many levels': Professor speaks out on police being called to college protests
#CampusProtests #Gaza #ColumbiaUniversity
Thinking they are entitled to occupying buildings is moronic and heartbreaking
Perhaps the most peaceful police response of all time.
The Colombia students destroyed the building they overtook, that’s a criminal act which is why the police were involved 🤦🏽♂️
False
You get what you vote for, so why they crying. 😆
All government funding should be stopped for good.
Jail and expelling
First of all your right to protest doesn't involve blocking another person's access. Thats why police are being called.
It actually does.
It's a Democratic strategy...
@@Mr.H-zu1jc TOTAL BS.
@@sayhisnamelibsDJT24 it’s an anti-genocide strategy.
@@sayhisnamelibsDJT24 I’m sure you’re qualified to say that. 😏
So many young women protesting. Interesting.
They tend to be more prone to conformity and trying to fit in useful idiots
Why does US tv never show film of what is happening in Gaza?
Ssshhhhh!!!!
Bc they are manufacturing consent.
US news programs regularly show what is happening in Gaza. Just about every single day I see a US news program on Gaza. You should probably pay better attention.
@@barnettmcgowan8978 what msm do you watch that isn’t cheerleading for Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian ppl?
That will go against the narrative that Israel are the good guys
None of this is going to change ANYTHING...
Sure will. Their $hi++y choices will change this once prosperous futures. 😂
It already has, we just haven’t seen the effects yet.
@@mr.winkiedo you that makes them more or less of a threat?
At least they are on the right side of history. Like the protesters against the vietnam war
Your silence is complicity,not patriotism.
This dude is crying wolf. Police didn’t show up all of a sudden. Numerous warnings were given but entitled students think they’re above the law. Participation trophy generation
American students are trained to be critical thinkers, but not too critical.
People will die in war! Look up the hill I! 1 million kids tortured! Look it up! Look up Hana’s! Isis! Al-Qaeda! Look at what and who they hate! Look it up! Best wake up! These people can care less who this kids chant for! In their eyes these people are America and they are their shields! Brainwashed! Look up 9/11! Only 19 Al-Qaeda pulled that off! Border has been wide open for three years plus! This is different than the 60s!
Educate them instead of encouraging them to breakjng the law
The uneducated are pro genocide. Like you
Should we teach them to spell?
The professor's comments are spot-on.
While he does make some good points, I disagree as an assessment of the totality of his comments. He acknowledges that taking over a building puts them in a disciplinary context, and that they understand that. Part of that process is being forcibly removed as trespassers and arrested, and they should understand that too. The University was incredibly tolerant and lenient with them; but ultimately, actions have consequences.
Promoting adacedmic freedom by allowing a group of people to completely take over the campus and buildings while preventing every other student from safely and freely going to class and getting their degree??? Makes lots of sense
I didn't see any police at Columbia with "guns drawn". Protest all you want and say whatever you want. just don't setup encampments, don't harass or restrict the movement of other students. And don't generally disrupt the campus. Then there's no need for the police, and in the majority of case, the police have stayed away from those campuses.
You didn’t see anything because they didn’t show you it. Maybe use the other part of your brain and google it - plenty of on the ground video for you to see.
Exactly!
Note the students picking up the trash . 27 seconds in
They made the trash!!!! You bet they should be picking it up!!!!
If i was a parent of one of these kids, i would be so proud.
Do they get at all that none of this will change the fate of the middle east?
Colonizing the middle east on US tax payer dime is ridiculous. Free Palestine.
The kids are alright! The younger generation gives me hope. Kudos to them all for taking a stand against genocide.
This is not going to stop a war. They are just making fools of themselves 😂
Most are just there to feel relevant and really could care less about what's going on.
"A chance to protest? Sure! I'm all in!"
Derp
Israel hold too much power over America you're their little poodles 😂
Are they learning about the dangers of religious extremism? About Hamas terrorism?
Nope they learned the dangers of supporting genocide. Have some standards for God's sake
@@onlyahuman493there’s no genocide
Who started the escalation!
A massive difference in the public attitudes regarding university and college students in the US and Europe/Australia, etc. is that these 18+ young people are viewed as "kids" in the US, but as young adult voters in other countries.
They are acting like children, and blocking people from continuing their education. I’m sure a bit of them are felons/illegals who can’t vote anyways 😂
Good news.. no prison time (prison is reserved for grandmas praying quietly near abortion mills).
Prison also for grammas within a half-mile of the Capitol on Jan 6.

its so cute seeing children playing outdoors with their tents and arts & crafts-
and its so like children to fight one minute and play the next, so adorable-

*It's not all gloom & doom for students protesting at US campuses...*
The president of Iran's Shahid Beheshti University, Mahmoud Aghamiri, announced that *"We will accept students expelled from Western universities and scholarships would be offered* to American and European students" expelled for supporting Palestine.
The scholarships would reportedly cover tuition and housing... *for completing their courses at Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran.*
Heavily monitored comment section. Story paints the left in a bad light.
They are old enough to know unlawful behaviours, don't you think??? Or just empathy toward others... disrupting those who have invested in their education and wish to focus on academia unobstructed...
How will the students wearing masks take credit for being on the right side of history? 😂
Police can hold a presence that makes people feel safe and looks out for extreme incidents-which activists themselves can also do. I don’t understand though why we have police even touching ANYone in 95% of any of this.
Kent State 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Are you old enough to use a cellphone ?
Brown University just agreed to divest from Israeli companies and protest stoped immediately. Thant’s how you treat protestors. The US gone absolutely crazy to treat their children like this to protect foreign interest. SHAME
From what I just read, Brown only agreed to hold a vote on the issue and agreed to meet with some of the students to talk about it. It looks like the school is just throwing them a bone so the encampment would end and the protesters could save face and look like they accomplished something.
These students belong in prison long sentences
unfortunately, eddie glaude was cut off in this video, but i appreciate what he was saying. get the police out of there - it’ll only escalate, and we remember what the result was in ‘70. students trying to express their horror over netanyahu’s attempt to get rid of the palestinians is not antisemitic - it’s honorable and shows a hatred for netanyahu’s actions, not the jewish people.
History is repeating itself. We will look back and regret our choices, just like we do now about Vietnam.
These kids are jumping on a band wagon & they don't really know what's going on or the real truth of things.

You support Israel because you think it will make your god come down from the sky.

AMERICA & ACCOUNTABILITY - 2024 ???
All are accountable to the judgment of time
And when we die without truth our sadness never ends.
By the deepest longing of our heart, mind and soul
We serve our Lord, homeland, family and friends.
With accountability we apply life’s wisdom
Guidelines to promote a moral life.
We receive our fame by our demeanor
As we struggle through ridicule and strife.
All through history up to today
Our chronicle of life is accountability.
Evil is a beast feasting on souls
Corrupting man with greed, hate and disability.
Always stay mindful of what must be done
With purpose, determination, prayer and accountability.
Giving our best to protect and preserve
A life of freedom, faith, love and stability
With honor we obtain uprightness
And by love and compliance we gain grace.
Credibility gives us proper goals
Improving the standard of our race.

I guess Biden ain’t saying nothing to adress our concerns
He struggles for, erm, er, ermm…..words.
Did you think he would?
@blakethegreatone2058 No. Maybe it’s time for Obama to step from behind the curtain.
I guess you’ll still vote for Biden no matter what he does or doesn’t do.
Biden don’t care cuz he knows he is not going back for a second term and he will probably go to prison!
UCLA has its OWN police dept. It doesn’t need to wait for LAPD. I don’t know if that impacts escalation and allows natural connection between students and campus police.
Just about every large university campus has this. The LAPD were called in for their brutality.
While all Universities and Colleges have their own police force, those forces all small in size and not equipped/trained for this type of policing. When the problem rises to this level, the local city police need to be called in. It actually ends up being safer for everyone. An unruly crowd is more likely to physically resist a small group of police, and an overwhelmed group of police is more likely to resort to deadly force out of fear. A large police presence eliminates both of those dangers.
Teacher, you are being a false moralist. Talk is all fine when the other side listens but when the other side engage in violent manifestations, breaking-in leaving wrecks behind, that is not "free speech", it is public bulling, coercion over others freedom rights. Try to deal with such mobs and you'll soon discover that your sweet talk goes down the drain very fast.
I'd say the false moralist is you. You're fine with US dollars bombing and starving children but setting up tents on a University quad is your red line.
We talking about Israel's illegal genocide ?

USA, home of the brave, land of the free.
lols.
We usually see this sort of police action in CCP China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Middle East.
That Prof talking, can you ask him to replace Jewish students being attacked w African American students being attacked and hear his response? Would he accept students telling him to go home/leave/you cannot walk here/ taking over buildings? He is just another example of using a double standard against Jewish people. That man and others who make these false claims should be embarrassed and resign!
Did you watch the same video as me?? He did invoke what's happened with minority students in the past who protested: "I've seen students of color experience horrible things". No Jewish students are being attacked.
I agree! The Jews are the only group whose rights and safety it's "OK" to ignore. Israel is the only country my fellow liberals want to divest from, while the world is full of a rogues gallery of serial rights abusers. An unruly protest targeting people of color, women or members of the LGBTQ+ community would never have been given this much leeway, and they shouldn't. The Jews are entitled to be treated as humans with equal dignity, like everyone else. As a liberal, this whole thing is embarrassing; it's shameful.
Your victim card is a forgery.
Communists are appalled at being told no for once.
Taking lessons from the cultist Dems.

You're part of the problem.
These protesters don't know what they are protesting for ...they don't know the history of the palestinians and their relationship with the israelies they don't even know who Yasser Arafat was and his work within the palestinian liberation organization aka the PLO ..
@@johnwesley9000 Quite the opposite. You've been conditioned to cheer for the oppressors and vilify anyone resisting it.
As a liberal college student I support whatever TikTok tells me to support and whatever will get me the most likes! I will chant "from the river to the sea" even though I can't name either the river nor the sea in question!
Witnessing these students in tears as they are arrested for protesting against genocide is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Remember back in 4th grade, when we first learned the solemn vow of "Never Again" in response to genocide? We've carried that lesson through life, reaffirmed by educators time and again. Now, faced with the reality of genocide, these brave young individuals are standing up to ensure we honor that pledge. Tears are a small price to pay for justice. We must stand united and resolute in our efforts to end genocide and hold those responsible accountable. Let's turn our collective outrage into action and ensure that we truly mean "Never Again.
If only you educated people, there wouldn't be protests. Defend these schools with ignorant kids. ☝️
Where's Joe - sorry - its his nap time again!
Unless there is violence or major property damage, the police should stay away.
Isn’t them breaking into campus buildings and disrupting classes enough for the police to get involved? lol y’all are crazy enough is enough!
Ah, so then you won't call police if dozens come over to trespass on your property.

Hasbara trolls have arrived.
With all the chants for "free free Palestine" have any of these students stopped to envision what a "free Palestine" would actually look like. Would it be a democratically elected government that respects the opposition? Would there full freedom of religion, speech, and representation in government and society in general? Would there be fair representation for all minorities including LGBTQ and would women be able to fully participate in society and work if they choose? Would they have a government that values peace with its neighbors as their main goal?
Lets look at all the other predominately Moslem and Arab countries not only in the region but the entire world for some clues. How many have any level of respect for individual liberty, freedom of religion or freedom from religion, governments embracing minority groups, respect for and living in peace and understanding with their neighboring countries? Can we use Syria or Yemen as a model? How about Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, or Afghanistan for that matter? Egypt or Lebanon?
The Palestinian people have shown 3/4 of a century of being their own worse enemy turning away from one compromise after another and when given the chance a murderous infighting between Hamas and the PA not to mention always resorting to violence to further their goals. What governments they have do not respect their own people, preventing free elections and using them as sacrificial pawns in a massive propaganda camping to demonetize the other side.
If they had taken a more reasonable and peaceful path with the willingness to compromise and control some of the more base passions that all humans have they would have long ago had their own nation, self determination and peace and prosperity.

Bidens Toast 😅😅😅😅
Where were the police when the academic community triggered the pandemic?
Silly liberals
Why are US police working for Israel?
They aren't. Democrats have brainwashed people into more violent protests. Democrats love violently protesting.
The whole of the Establishment is working for somebody, that select little band. And by definition, so are the Biden fanatics who frequent these boards.
They literally have no idea at all.
It’s that moment when Biden fans realise that something is afoot, it’s not quite what they’d anticipated. It’s all very confusing to them, they didn’t see what was right in front of their noses.
Maybe in our next 26B aidPackage, they'll set aside a few billion for crowd control
Seems like they are working for the law abiding people who want to go to college classes and walk for graduation… would be smarter if protestors went somewhere it was legal to encamp
