I'm into month 3 ... it's been a true learning experience. I'm 60 and this is the first time I've grown a beard. I've always said I couldn't grow a beard if my life depended on it. I've been happily surprised and Dan has been such an incredible source of knowledge and encouragement. Thank you Dan!!

Growing an untrimmed yeard was the best decision I ever made with my beard. My yeard was accomplished in Nov. 2020 and there's no looking back now! It really made me take it a lot more seriously and your advice was key to that success. Now on to the tweard!

January 1st was a year and a half for me. I'm going to try to keep going for two. I stumbled upon DanC at the beginning of my journey. If you are just starting out or in the middle of your journey, you really need to stick with Dan. The man does his homework! Not just because he's a teacher but because you can see and feel his passion for beards, cutting through the myths that are out there and for helping his fellow beardsmen. Thank you Dan for all the work that you do and for the confidence that you build up in all of us! Keep it up brother.

I agree. You can get very conflicting information on beard care on the internet. Awhile back I decided to listen mainly to Dan and keep the course with him. As said he does the research and has an awesome beard to prove his information and tips work. And the best thing is he doesn't give conflicting information, has done the research and is honest with what he's saying.

    9months into my yeard .
It's been so much more then growing a beard , it truly has taught me I have very little patience and it's shown me how fast I make rash decisions-
Example this is my 4th attempt to complete a full year , failing 3 times at 6months with rash decision to shave without weighing the fact of 6 months investment.
3 months to go I believe I'm gonna make it this time.

I’m at 22 weeks….beard at 4”. Challenge is keeping a low profile at work as a home PT…it’s impossible to hide this mass under a surgical mask, plus keeping cool in hot Colorado weather. Of course, my clients love my hot hands, therapeutic touch…so glad I did not have to give that up during COVID.

I've worn a short goatee for 20 years. I decided to grow a full beard 10 weeks ago but I didn't shave the goatee first. Committed to a yeard to allow everything to grow together before deciding on a trimming style. Long way to go but it's starting to look pretty good already. Never had to worry about products before. With a mostly white beard I'm finding products are essential to maintain the growth without being dry and brittle. Your advice has been very helpful. Without it I may have gotten frustrated and shaved. Thanks for being here.

I did the exact same thing mate. Had a long goatee when I decided to grow a full beard.
Trimmed the goatee back to around 2 inches, let the full beard grow for around 4 months, then trimmed the goatee back a bit more to even it up.
Once I hit 6 months of letting it grow, I was able to get the shape that I wanted, and is now full and even.
Keep growing it as you are mate. Hopefully you see the same results that I did

Looking back at the first year of my beard journey, I guess I did a yeard without realizing it. I never even heard the word until about a month or so ago, I did keep my sides and mustache trimmed pretty short but I didn't lit touch the front or neck line. Not long after the first year I quit trimming the sides, and I quit trimming my mustache about 1-2 months ago. I actually had a total stranger approach me in walmart last weekend about my beard and asked how long I had been growing it. I told him about 1 1/2 years, he was really struggling growing a beard, so I told him about your TH-cam channel and sent him to the Beardcare section for some beard wash and honest amish beard oil. Talking about my journey with an interested stranger really made my day!

Started my yeard 7/27/20 after retiring from 23 years in law enforcement. I just started growing a beard because I hadn’t been able to with work. Didn’t know at the time there was a word for it (yeard), or what I was doing as far as beard maintenance. Slowly began learning more, and came across Dan’s videos here which have really helped me understand how to care for my beard. Almost at the halfway mark, and I’ve been taking a pic every 27th of the month to chart my progress. Thanks for all you do Dan, and love the positive vibe among the group of helping build each other up.

I just went over the six month mark and really like the idea of setting a date goal of one year. At that point, reevaluate. Maybe it will have become part of my lifestyle, maybe not. But it's good to have that point and it will be a great feeling to have made the commitment and followed through. Whatever happens, I just had my passport pics taken so the look will definitely be lasting at least 10 years. 😀

Had a goatee for many years. Sides never really came in well enough to keep and the itch would always get me. On a vacation when I didn't shave it started coming. Decided at that point to go for the yeard (not even knowing the term at the time) discovered beard products and Dan's videos. Wife never liked it, but said I could "keep" it since I was taking care of it. At the end of the year I went to a barber for a clean-up. Wasn't happy with the results so I'm half way through my 2nd year and will trim it myself at the anniversary. Thanks to all the advice and support from Dan and the community, this has been an exceptional experience.

My yeard will be complete in March of this year. Started last year as all the virus stuff started popping off. I was about 3 months in when I decided to really go for it since I wasn't trimming anyway. Been a good experience for sure. The biggest thing I've encountered as a negative is other people. It's surprising how many people have an opinion once you start growing it out. I've had facial hair since I was in high school, but never really gone for a big beard until last year. I'm 40 years old. 😅 I have no plans to trim it down after the year is up. Probably go for that coveted 2-yeard after! Anywho, glad I stumbled onto the channel. I liked and subscribed. 👍

My experience from growing a beard in general is not listening to the haters. No one in my family ever grew long beards, everyone seemed to shave at least every two days. I got out the military and said I was done shaving. So after a few goes and listening to people to cut it, which I did. I am finally now at a point in my life where I'm not "me" without the beard to everyone. Scale of 1 to 10 I'm calling my beard a 5, but everyone around seems to think it's much better. People have asked me for advice on beard growing, never thought that would be someone would ask me. So here is my advice. Do you, let it grow for longer than you initially want to, really give yourself time, stop stressing all these products, don't let some random barber hack at your beard when you get a hair cut, trim your own beard, don't cut it all off if you don't like trim you got, don't line your beard up as it's growing out, stop giving yourself a chin strap where you cut the line of your neck almost up to the tip of your chin, stop pulling your hairs out as they grow, if you have a patchy beard it is what is (just have a wicked hair cut), trimming doesn't make your hair grow faster, it's itchy at the beginning because the tips of your hair is cut at an angle then curl back (this faze will pass), when you trim your beard clean your hair up (don't be that guy), don't trim your beard at night when you are tired (go to sleep and I bet in the morning you don't even trim it), keep a brush in each bathroom, in the hallway, one in the car/ truck, clean everything out your beard when done eating (stop stressing it during the whole meal), people definitely know when you are thinking because chances are you will stroke your beard, look up terminal length and get over it your beard will only grow so long, and most of all just do you.

Started my Yeard May 1st 2020 and have "mostly" enjoyed the journey. My wife isn't a huge fan but is always supportive. At 1 year the plan is to do a good shaping trim. I do trim my mustache and sideburns along the way but that's it. I take pictures every 2 weeks. Of course you and your channel have been priceless. I'm at 6" now but started with a stubble goatee.

Shortly after I found your channel I decided to start fresh and trim my beard down to stubble to begin my yeard. November 18, 2021 is my end date and my wife and I have already been doing the weekly pictures (left side, right side, and front views). At the end of the year we will compile the pictures into a slideshow or something and send them to you! 👊🧔

One thing I think might help two is throwing this extra challenge in the beginning, if the three month challenge. I’m sure you know, but it’s where you just let it go for three months. The advantage is I think is you won’t be over trimming when it comes time to trim, and you will have more confidence about your beard once you’ve seen it grown in. 😃

I started my beard in April 2020. After 6 months I did trim the center which allowed the sides to catch up and eventually my beard ended up fuller and of course with your tips I have finally gotten into a routine. yes, I trim the sprit ends but the care that I learned from you...good quality oil, butter at night and on and on. I did find that with a mostly white beard I need to put a utility type balm in right after I put oil in my beard right after I shower and wash my beard. Yes, you have said not to wash everyday but I live in Las Vegas with 10% humidity or less and lots of wind and dirt blowing around. I still have a slightly wet beard when using oil and balm, then I dry it a little (after waiting 5 min like you taught us) with a heated brush. A blow drier is just too much dry heat and I get enough of that outside.

On Feb 1st I’ll be 10 months into my yeard. It’s been pretty cool. Honestly wearing a mask has made it easier, not everyone gets to see it if I have a bad beard day. My wife has been mostly supportive, depending on the day. She loves how I smell now, she did at one point say she wouldn’t kiss me again until I trimmed the mustache (which I did). I’m surprised at how much I was able to grow, I’m a little bummed at the sides, but that’s been kinda good for me to stop being OCD about it. I’m looking forward to April 1st so I can clean up some of the transparency at the bottom and get it looking really good. I’ve taken pictures along the way, so maybe I’ll send you a slideshow when I’m done. Thanks for everything man, I would I have made it this far or even known what a yeard was without your videos!

Next month (02/15/21) it will have been two years since I have plied a razor to my face. I'm only at nine and a half inches right now but I have taken off about two and a half inches in health and transparency trims, in the last year. My goal is a terminal length rounded beard. There is quite a bit of beard lore lodged in my brain Thanks to Dan for helping with that knowledge. I love having a beard.

I didn't start out wanting to grow a yeard . It was more in protest of them constantly changing my schedule at work. I saw no reason to get up early and shave if it meant the next day I'd work until 9 and have to be at work at 8. Anyway one month turned into two, two three etc. Now I'm at a year and half and if I hadn't gone to a barber and get a "trim" I would be a lot further along in my journey. I'm about 3 months until my true yeard. Only small trims and only on the bottom. Just wish the sides would catch up.

As you known, after a life of short beard, I grew a beard for 9 months, then shave it off... It was about 5 and a half inches long and shave it was probably a big mistake, but I had doubts and unfortunately sometimes I made big mistakes. Now I'm on my yeard journey again! I'm taking a photo of my face everyday and I can't wait for my beard to be long. I learned a couple of very important things: I have to be patient, I have rock what I have and I have to stay healthy and positive. 😉

July 1st started my Yeard. 1st time growing a beard ever and I'm 40 years old! I don't have good genetics for a beard but I'm trying everything. Eating healthier, more water intake, vitamins, exercise, minoxidil, derma-rolling, beard oil and brushing, and not shaving. Maybe later I'll trim up the neck area, but not until I see some inches. Great video! Cheers!
1st time trying a yeard. Started December 2020. Wish I'd though of taking pictures, but I've made myself laugh as I changed my tune on tools and products so far:
Month 2 "load of rubbish this plastic comb malarcky". Plastic brush bought.
Month 3 "OK. I've got a Kent comb now, but no way I'll ever use a blow dryer, that's for girls". But, yeah, supermarket beard balm is full of nasty stuff" Ordered carrier oils and butters for DIY.
    Plastic comb and brush binned.
Month 4 I'm blow drying most days. Now adept at round brush technique.
Month 5. Wife is loving her home-made lavender-scented body butter (I had to buy more shea online!).
Decided lavender and cedarwood is the best blend ever!
Bought an oil burner for the extra essential oils...
And now have 7 potions coditioner in the shower too! 😂
