Who did Jon beat with a 10+ win streak. He lost to Reyes and was gifted a decision. Has only fought one guy at and will not be fighting top guys at Heavyweight. Ran away from Ngannou for years and made excuses he was too small. In reality he was bigger than all the light heavyweights he ever fought. When he didn't have the size advantage he struggled.
Since July of 2022, less than two years, Alex Pereira has beaten five champs or ex-champs in multiple weight classes with four finishes. That's way more impressive than anything Jon has done.

You do know Islam drops 35 lbs, most top tier fighters only drop 25lbs maybe 30lbs. Charles, Dustin P, Volk ALL started their careers at 145lb featherweight. Islam is not a p4p in the entire UFC, know the history of the past 15 years.

P4p is a silly label. Islam is the most dominant active champion in the deepest, most talented division, finishing 7 of his last 8. On top of that he had defeated Oliveira and Volk when they were both Top5 p4p fighters. It’s a no-brainer. Islam is the best right now and is already one of the greatest ever.
Jon Jones was one spot higher than GSP in the pound for pound rankings in 2012, when GSP's body of work was far more extensive than Jon's was in 2012 - GSP had far more wins. But GSP was out due to injury for a year and JBJ won a couple of good fights in that stretch. When GSP returned, he didn't overtake Jon's spot. I don't remember Dana whining back then to boost GSP's place in the rankings. It's not about the body of work. It's supposed to be who's the most active current champion.

Honestly, Jon's resume is quite impressive. But how can anyone talk about Volk being undersized against Islam without also acknowledging that Jon has had a size/frame/reach advantage over just about everyone he has faced. I mean, Shogun, Machida, Vitor, and Chael are middle weights who fought at LHW. They were all smaller than Jon, especially in the reach department.
The Lightweight division is the deepest and has the most number of absolute killers. Volkanowski was also a middleweight and welterweight .
Volk is naturally and fought majority career as featherweight as did Charles, even Dustin started naturally as featherweight. The only true lightweight Islam has beaten is Bobby Green. Really not saying much in the p4p talk

I think there’s something a bit ingenuous and insincere about Jon. His constant rule breaking and troubles outside of the octagon. Whereas Makachev has more conviction and sincerity towards the sport and more of an ambassador to the UFC. Also Jon Jones is very obviously cherry picking and avoiding the main competition ie, Ngannou some years ago and now Aspinall. If Makachev moves up a weight and defeats Leon Edwards then there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s the number 1 pound for pound and will even move ahead of Khabib (who retired too early) as the GOAT.

It should be size for size rather than pound for pound, size for size means a 6`4 Jon jones vs 6`4 islam makhachev with a similar wingspan and then its just skill vs skill which makes more sense otherwise you are comparing a 5`2 flyweight vs a 6`5 or 6`6 heavy weight.
In order to even be considered in the P4P rankings, it should be REQUIRED that you have fought in at least two weight divisions

This debate isn’t even about Islam vs Jon Jones. Any mention of records, opponents, and weight classes is irrelevant when the real question is purely “what is the definition of P4P?”, and depending on how you answer that question, you’ll either choose Islam or Jon. Some people simply can’t get their brain to separate the GOAT conversation from P4P.
