So true, man. I was just grouse hunting in the Sudbury area today. Right after my 1st catch, weather turned to shhh. Then the birds went into hiding. Oh well, “AYL BE BACK” lol
Thanks for the video Leroy! I got my first ruffie this fall out with my son, got it with my great grandpas Winchester 1897 12ga pump that was built in 1911.. I recently got it from my 90 year old grandpa and fixed it up so I could use it. Was pretty pleased, I don’t think it’s seen the woods in probably 40’years. Then my Suzuki samurai died, so we built a fire and cooked it on a stick till we waited for backup to come rescue us lol 😂
Haha, ya all character building stuff, but it was ok, kid was still smiling when help showed up. Helped to teach him a few things about when things don’t go according to plans lol
Interesting, where are you at? I feel like this year here in North Central, WA the bird hunting has been pretty good. seeing more than I have the last two years. Saw 8 birds on my last hunt! Still only got two of them though haha.
@@Hizzy76 makes sense. I know spring hail can really hurt numbers. We had a pretty mild winter and spring here I bet that has something to do with it around my parts. Been pretty good hunting this year.
Nice Jacket Niij! Got the same one :) My oldest son and I went for a hunt today and got a couple ruffgrouse and a Sharptail :) Keep up the good work niij :)
I got my first ditch chicken, a ruffy, on October 1st... I used a #4 410 out of a single shot Savage 22/410 over/under with iron sights (nicknamed Jr. because it's so easy to use, a child could do it) and got a perfect hit. No pellets in the meat. The next day, I swiss cheesed a spruce... My only problem is I CAN'T see the birds once they're in a tree, even if I saw where they landed and I'm right underneath it! Any tips on that?
In western washington, the morning after a good nights rain is ideal. In overcast days with a light rain, it is still pretty good.

The bird population is definitely down this year but our fall is also running a little late. Best of luck up your way!

@@collinmc90 I hunt in north central Sk south of La Ronge. I’ve seen birds but not like the last three years.
Spring was very wet and that always affects the chick numbers

Nice video, enjoyed watching! I’m going grouse hunting in Wisconsin in a few weeks, can’t wait. I’m hoping for nice cool weather.
Thanks, have fun
Love the opening!
As always a great video Leroy, thanks for posting!
No problem
I absolutely love this channel! Thanks for the encouragement! 🍻
Hay! Thanks so much
Grouse come out after the rain..they stay put when it’s windy and rainy
The morning after it stops raining is the best time..6am
Nice! Indeed, the same conclusion applies here. We did see everything under the sun animal wise though.
I was always asked if it's good to hunt grouse if it's raining the best way to answer the question was to go hunt grouse in the rain 😂
are you using a baikal single shot leroy?
You bet 👍🏽
