I can't tell you how thrilled I am that I've discovered your channel. I've sat for a while this last few days watching as my dog had passed, because of the pandemic I've not seen my sons for over 15 months so you two have helped me through a tough time watching your adventures. My sister bought a bunch of the vacuum storage bags so she could store her collection of winter clothes and bedding under her bed. They worked great until her cats toenails punctured the bags and the bags and contents expanded under the bed.
Mine failed without any help from the cat as they were stored in a drawer! Couldn’t move the drawer at all and had to dismantle the unit from around it - beware. Now I only store them in the open.
The old cliche ...been there, done that...and it proved to be the best five years of my wife’s and my life. Great adventure, see the Country from the back door, meet fraternal folk who want to help, ‘argue’ a bit with anglers, winter cozily, sunburn carefully and ENJOY. Best wishes.

I found the hardest things were gifts I had received over the years, I felt a lot of guilt! Once everything has gone it is very freeing. It is a constant battle not to acquire more stuff! We're lucky we have a secret loft with boxes of things we can't bear to part with ;-) Surprisingly, we have a ton of space left on the boat, so as you said, it's going to be a battle not to acquire more stuff. xxxxxxx

Love your canal boat. I have only ever hired canal boats in the past and I know how expensive they can be to hire so buying one is fantastic. I brought and owned a small cruiser on the Norfolk Broads where I live and loved every minute of it until being made redundant I was forced to sell. But now in a position to buy again just watching your video has inspired me for ideas. Loved the bit where you said have we forgotten something...poor Dillon.

Always wash new bedding, clothing and other fabrics. They are usually starched very heavily to make them look nice on store shelves and they are often shipped in formaldehyde and other nasty things meant to prevent bugs and rodents
Your Silverfox is just beautiful. You know in truth, I only use my lounge, my bedroom and bathroom daily. During the long lockdown in the states I use my kitchen table now as my office space 3 days a week. I really could live in an RV.

Know what you mean about letting things ago, we sold a lot of DVD's recently as our new TV does not have a Built in DVD player, you scan through the DVD's thinking not seen that one in ages then realise you don't have a DVD player. 😂😂 Good to see you moving stuff into the Boat.

I would suggest putting a vent into the wardrobe door as well, otherwise the air won't really be flowing very well. Air needs a way in and out. Otherwise, I would say that it's really starting to feel like a home as you've started moving in. Can't wait to see her out on the water. And you two are so cute together. :)

Letting go of stuff is the hardest thing. We struggled massively and did give loads to family and friends and charity. However, we’ve still got effectively 4 wardrobes of clothes in storage (and I have a suit carrier - that gives a hint of what’s in the wardrobes!) and lots and lots of pictures and sculptures we’d collected. Just didn’t want to trust anyone with them lol. So I guess we are destined to become land lubbers after a few years
I'm obsessed with slow cookers and soup makers. I use them constantly. If on the rare occasion that I have to cook for a date, slow cookers are a life saver 😂 . An idiot like me can convince someone I'm competent in the kitchen. Slow cooked lasagne is lovely. Since I watched your video I've been researching thermal cookers for hours 😂 . They look amazing . I want one. Please do a thermal cooking video at some point :-)

Hey guys,nice video, totally understand the down sizing conflict. The good thing about moving like that is you can do a total rethink on your decor style . I would have a big problem with moving on to a boat as I have books. I have been collecting since I was 10 years old, apart from the ones lost from ex's"stealing them" I still have an extensive collection of books. Of which "getting rid of them". is not an option.Two things that I will not part with my fur babies and my books. PERIOD. Not up for discussion or negotiation. As has already been seen by a number of ex's. Just a quick one if I were to get a boat I would probably have to have a 30 ft butty just for books and tools. . Foxes Afloat . Hey guy, fraid not had a Kindle and a nook. It's very difficult to do reference work,ie I was sharing a house with a woman one time and I had some time off and was looking up some information for a particular elusive subject. There is not a lot of information except in bits . What I found was a little bit in one book and a small reference to another then another etcetera. When she came home later that day there were I think something like fifteen book's open all over the floor. something that you can't do with a Kindle or nook, even with both.

SOOO excited for you both! Always great to see Dillon. I love the Owl pillows! So memory foam is great and so comfy but I noticed that when it is really cold - it is a bit lumpy and 'hard' until it adjusts to your body temperature. All other seasons the moment you settle in - ahhhhh. Trying to arrange to come to Crick so maybe I'll have to find some cake...
Another very helpful video. I'd already started trying out the vacuum storage bags in preparation to our move onto a narrowboat. I've found that the smaller / medium sized ones are best, but if you have a big one then if it is too big to fit in the available storage space you can partially fill it, and fold the surplus over. Also, you don't always need to use the vacuum cleaner to suck the air out, you can get most of it out just by squashing them. I've ordered a thermal cooker, I expect that I'll be wishing I'd found out about them years ago. I do tend to use a slow cooker a lot, and I was concerned about how much power it would use on a boat. A thermal cooker should solve that problem. Frantically de-cluttering to get my house ready for sale, I think a skip will be needed very soon. Looking forward to the launch video, catch you soon.
@@FoxesAfloat First experiment was a paella, I suspect I'd have got away with less water, the rice was a bit too fluffy, but otherwise it was OK. I think I'll be trying a curry next.
Memory foam beds rock...well actually they don't , but you get the point I'm sure. I got my first one about 7 years ago and have never slept better. It was a Tempur-Pedic brand. It cost a fortune but was worth every penny.

Watching this actually made me a little anxious because of our upcoming move. I'm not really sentimental about old stuff at all and would gladly toss it all in the bin, but it's still all a bit stressful. Moving house does make you realize just how much junk you've accumulated over the years.

Hi yes I have a memory foam mattress, we have just replaced ours , the old one I would roll over and my arm used to hang out of bed , and after the 4 time of my arm swelling up to twice the size we bought a new mattress, not happened since ! So beware when it’s getting older ours was only two years old !

I saw one of those thermal cookers at Crick last year, they are fab. Thanks for the top tip of water alarms, we never realised there was such a product available. I have bed envy!

Letting go of stuff is the hardest thing. We struggled massively and did give loads to family and friends and charity.
However, we’ve still got effectively 4 wardrobes of clothes in storage (and I have a suit carrier - that gives a hint of what’s in the wardrobes!) and lots and lots of pictures and sculptures we’d collected. Just didn’t want to trust anyone with them lol.
So I guess we are destined to become land lubbers after a few years
The thing is.... We have so much stuff to get rid of.
I'm obsessed with slow cookers and soup makers. I use them constantly. If on the rare occasion that I have to cook for a date, slow cookers are a life saver 😂 . An idiot like me can convince someone I'm competent in the kitchen. Slow cooked lasagne is lovely.
Since I watched your video I've been researching thermal cookers for hours 😂 . They look amazing . I want one. Please do a thermal cooking video at some point :-)

Hey guys,nice video, totally understand the down sizing conflict. The good thing about moving like that is you can do a total rethink on your decor style . I would have a big problem with moving on to a boat as I have books. I have been collecting since I was 10 years old, apart from the ones lost from ex's"stealing them" I still have an extensive collection of books. Of which "getting rid of them". is not an option.Two things that I will not part with my fur babies and my books. PERIOD. Not up for discussion or negotiation. As has already been seen by a number of ex's. Just a quick one if I were to get a boat I would probably have to have a 30 ft butty just for books and tools. . Anyway nice video as always guys looking forward to your next.

Foxes Afloat . Hey guy, fraid not had a Kindle and a nook. It's very difficult to do reference work,ie I was sharing a house with a woman one time and I had some time off and was looking up some information for a particular elusive subject. There is not a lot of information except in bits . What I found was a little bit in one book and a small reference to another then another etcetera. When she came home later that day there were I think something like fifteen book's open all over the floor. something that you can't do with a Kindle or nook, even with both.

So memory foam is great and so comfy but I noticed that when it is really cold - it is a bit lumpy and 'hard' until it adjusts to your body temperature. All other seasons the moment you settle in - ahhhhh. Trying to arrange to come to Crick so maybe I'll have to find some cake...

Another very helpful video. I'd already started trying out the vacuum storage bags in preparation to our move onto a narrowboat. I've found that the smaller / medium sized ones are best, but if you have a big one then if it is too big to fit in the available storage space you can partially fill it, and fold the surplus over. Also, you don't always need to use the vacuum cleaner to suck the air out, you can get most of it out just by squashing them.
I've ordered a thermal cooker, I expect that I'll be wishing I'd found out about them years ago. I do tend to use a slow cooker a lot, and I was concerned about how much power it would use on a boat. A thermal cooker should solve that problem.
Frantically de-cluttering to get my house ready for sale, I think a skip will be needed very soon.

@@FoxesAfloat First experiment was a paella, I suspect I'd have got away with less water, the rice was a bit too fluffy, but otherwise it was OK. I think I'll be trying a curry next.

Memory foam beds rock...well actually they don't , but you get the point I'm sure.
I got my first one about 7 years ago and have never slept better. It was a Tempur-Pedic brand. It cost a fortune but was worth every penny.
We loved the one we had but the join on the infill wasn't working for us so we had to change it for a normal type mattress.

Hi yes I have a memory foam mattress, we have just replaced ours , the old one I would roll over and my arm used to hang out of bed , and after the 4 time of my arm swelling up to twice the size we bought a new mattress, not happened since ! So beware when it’s getting older ours was only two years old !
