It occurred to me that your channel provides an historical perspective of England’s canal system, and you have fostered interest in the eyes of the public that the development of the canal network was the backbone of the industrial revolution. More importantly, you’ve fostered interest in conserving the canal system as an integral element of British heritage that should always be maintained and enjoyed.

Thank you. My husband and I have been thoroughly entertained by your Vlog over the past year. As a retired photographer, I am very impressed with the quality and consistency of your videos. We love the history lessons! AND the outtakes! As Americans, we would never know if you mis-pronounced EVERYTHING!. Thank you so much.

My mum and dad had their wedding reception in the Waterloo Hotel about 70 years ago! She said it cost 3 shillings and 6 pence for adults, 1 shilling and 6 pence for kids and 5 shillings for table wine. She’s 93 now but has loved seeing old Runcorn on your vlogs. I’m really pleased you have been made so welcome in my home town. 😊

There’s a good parable relevant to you guys...
“A man who was traveling came upon a farmer working in his field and asked him what the people in the next village were like. The farmer asked "What were the people like in the last village you visited?" The man responded "They were kind, friendly, generous, great people." "You'll find the people in the next village are the same," said the farmer.”
Everywhere you two go, you’re greeted in that same warm, open, friendly manner ... says a lot about you I think.
A really interesting video again.. especially about the dry dock... I never knew they existed . More of the same please!

When I were young...(my best Aussie Yorkshire accent) and railways were more than government financial liabilities, those hand cranked cranes were to be seen in nearly every suburban siding around Sydney. Really took me back... Again, a bloody interesting trip today, this is becoming obsessive viewing. Thanks gents (and Otis), stay well and safe travels...

Hello lovely fellas......ooooh, ironing board covers....there’s a boring Zzzzz 😁 Looks like you’ve found dry dock heaven. I love volunteers.....their heart & soul goes into what they do....bless them! I feel like a 140 yr old crane today.....the garden weeding is killing me! 😁 Very interesting how they fill and empty the dock. ‘Waters Meeting’ I love that name. Friendly lot on the Braymar! Otis is so gorgeous.❤️ God I bet Runcorn stank with its Tanneries....no thanks 🤮. Who’s James Brindley ?? might have to rewind. Oh Otis, tell your lads we need you to have your own channel! 😁 2/3 of a million gallons.......that’s a lot! Lovely vlog, lovely fellas. I learn something new every week! Lots of love - have a good week. 😘😘😘

I remember my grandfather talking about the window tax. He used to own a row house in Cheltenham and several of the houses
in his street was missing an upstairs window, probably the small bedroom window. He kept all his windows. It amazed me that they were never replaced later.

I've winched that crane! Back in the late 60's, early 70's, my parents had a boat that was moored near there, and our boat needed to go into the dry dock. I helped my dad, and a couple of other guys get the boat into the dry dock. Glad you enjoyed Runcorn and sorry we're away and didn't get to meet you both. Safe travels and bon voyage.

During lockdown I watched all your videos from the beginning until I caught up to a current one. So, Thank you for that. It gave me a wider view of the world while I was here in my village in Wales. What was great was seeing many places in NW England that I know so well.
Last week and this week you mentioned The Bridgewater Canal, which interested me greatly. Only today I discovered in my family history research that my 4x Great Grandfather, Samuel Atherton (born 1810) was a flatman/waterman/sailor on that canal. My 3x GGmother, Mary Ann was born in Manchester but baptised in Warrington in 1829 - so obviously the whole family were moving up and down the canal. I am quite chuffed to discover I have at least one waterman as an ancestor!
Thanks again for your videos. I look forward to watching them just after 4pm each Friday. BW. Chris.

I don't know, Colin. Do you think you ever might make it to Manchester? That water tower and pipe is huge! I'm going to have to look that up and learn a bit more as it's amazing that they'd run a pipe all that way. I imagine there's loads of history at the boat club. I can imagine them being all warm and inviting then telling you to stay here, but ya have to earn your keep though! Like getting shanghaied onto a ships crew. lol
With todays show, for some reason, it's occurring to me how much work goes into these videos. Just the background music alone ought to be a real chore. Thanks for the hard work and I'll see you next week!

Same here Rose. We have a little French Bulldog and although he’s a lovely little chap he’s a bloody nightmare sometimes. Chasing squirrels, chasing other dogs that clearly don’t want to play with him. He’s like that kid in the playground who wants to play with all the other kids but doesn’t get the message to bugger off😂
