Hello there. I used to be an employee from Papa Johns. Now I'm an employee of Pizza Hut. Seeing this pizza for the first time surprised me. The tiny pepperonis, the extra cheese coupled with the Parmesan makes this a delicious treat. A blast from the past so to speak. Glad you liked it!
Do pizza hut dough come in frozen or do you have to slap them out from dough balls in trays?
@@TheYardninja I was a manager at Pizza Hut, they come in frozen. Breadsticks as well. You oil the pan the dough goes in, put in the frozen dough and then proof the dough and store it in the walk in. My Pizza Hut had to do this about 3 times a day so all the dough customers got was always “fresh” not old.

I work at Pizza Hut. Here's the ingredients. We take a large pan pizza dough and stretch it out to an extra large thin. The sauce is the same sauce in our Italian pasta, and not our usual pizza sauce. We use the same mozzarella, and both regular and Detroit style pepperoni. It goes through a conveyor belt oven for around 7 minutes before being buttered, cut and boxed. Then it waits in the warmer until you come pick it up or it gets delivered.
Mind you, fast food is never a good idea and I say that while working for fast food. We have to do all of these steps within 4 minutes. If I wanted to get diarrhea, I would try to get someone to cook me an Italian or seafood dinner in under 5 minutes. You know what I mean?

Why did they wait 25 years to bring back this pizza? This was my mom's favorite pizza, but she is not here anymore to enjoy it. I always wondered why Pizza Hut stopped making it. I remember eating the big New Yorker as a kid when Pizza Hut had it in the 90s and really enjoying it.

Pizza Hut is one of those places that are either really good or the employee is talking to their bluetooth and handing you a saucless pie while never once making eye contact.
Bruh my mother ordered my sister a pizza from pizza hut like four days ago and asked for them to add black olives to a pepperoni pizza these mfs thought she said onky black olives and they brought out a no sauce, no pepperoni, monstrosity of crust with just black olives on it.
It used to always be really good. But this sort of service has become normal since 2020. Don't know why. Seems to be some sort of cultural shift. It isn't just the low level workers either who don't get paid enough to truly care about customers, you see new customer unfriendly policies from higher ups of many large businesses all the time, including WalMart. In fact COVID was basically just used an excuse by many CEOs to implement customer unfriendly policies which had nothing to do with social distancing, the pandemic itself, or even supply chain issues! They did it because many businesses were forced to change to fit the pandemic, and other businesses just saw it as an opportunity to implement unpopular changes that have nothing to do with the pandemic. The new normal doesn't look like perpetual covid fear, it is instead perpetual indifference to other people.
I had one last week. It was amazing. Picked it up in the restaurant which I hadn't been inside since being a kid. Place hadn't changed a bit besides feeling smaller than I remember as a kid. This pizza plus that experience was great nostalgia.
All the pizza huts have closed in my area due to bad service. Always though the pies were solid (not great not horrible just overall solid for fast food pizza) but the people they employed, even the managers, we’re all burnouts and couldn’t make anything correct or even remember orders. Pathetic.
The Hut arrived my hometown in 1975 or 1976...I remember because they had the Live version of KISS' song , "Rock & Roll All Night..." on the Jukebox !

I had this pizza for the first time last week and man it didn't disappoint. I can see why it was a fan favorite back then. I think it was even better than their regular pizza lol. Definitely gonna get it a couple more times while it lasts

In my small town we had a Pizza Hut with the big red roof. Inside was dimly lit with a lot of booths and a buffet. I would play TMNT on the arcade while we waited for the pizza. It felt like it took ages to arrive. The Big New Yorker was my favorite.

Ever since this came back, it’s been my #1 pizza. First time I felt like I’ve actually gotten what out of pizza.
To me this is large, a large pizza is medium and medium is small. I’ve always felt like that with pizza. The New Yorker is the perfect size for me. I hope it stays on the menu

Pizza Hut has such pioneering geniuses! Slice the usually sized pizza into 6 slices instead of 8, and presto... the slices are larger! Such innovation! It's practically magic!

I had this and wasn't disappointed- it was definitely a good attempt at a new york style pizza on a mass production scale. I enjoyed it especially the big slice size.

I use to love getting a big new Yorker and playing video games with my friends when I was a kid. This pizza was so good back then and I really hope its as good as it use to be. I have come to hate pizza hut over the last few years. Now if I get pizza I either get papa johns or dominos. I may have to get a big new yorker this weekend.

I actually just tried this pie with sausage meatball mushroom. I also added garlic powder and Rao's sauce from the jar. The garlic powder and sauce knocked it out of the park.

We've had this in New Zealand for the last year or so now. I think they were trialing it here. We have the Big BBQ Bacon, Big Margherita, Big Triple Cheese, and Big New Yorker, all in that size and style range. Love the channel :)
Its common for fast food places to 'trial' products in Australia and New Zealand as they are culturally similar enough to the USA, and much less of a risk than pushing a new product America-wide out of the gate. The "share a coke with" campaign was the same way, The touch screen ordering at McDonald's too.

In the 80s, we’d go to the Pizza Hut in Jersey City on rt 440 and the pan pies were delicious, caramelized, fresh. Dough was fresh, proofed. In the late 90s till today Pizza Hut has continuously disappointed. WTH happened? That said, I am binging on ROTW videos- love this guy.
Ex-manager here, every single piece of dough now comes frozen in discs. The Hut is the only one out of the big names that does not make fresh dough in house these days, as far as I'm aware.

Yes in the 1980s and early 90s Pizza Hut really was the king of delivery pizza joints..and the buffets were awesome too. No reason to go there anymore IMO it has declined too much in quality.
Living in UNY, there isn't a Pizza Hut within 100 miles but there are local pizza shops, mostly selling NY style pies, on every GD corner. Any small town has at least 2-3 NY pizza shops and they are always busy.
I remember eating the Big New Yorker back in the 1950's in Milwaukee with a big cold Blatz beer. Ah childhood memories.
I tried this pizza a few days ago, and although the salt and grease were at borderline health hazard levels, it was genuinely tasty and reasonably priced considering pizza hut generally tends to be much more reserved with their coupon offers and overall runs more expensive when compared to domino's.
I mean tbf if you are buying a fast food pizza and not expecting grease, then I'm not really sure what you were expecting tbh.

Oregano I feel is one of those spices that usually does come through as long as you know its there, so if you can't taste oregano then it might not be oregano at all.

Their pan pizza is their best pizza. That's what they started out as, a pan pizza place.
If you only had their hand tossed, I completely understand. Their regular hand tossed is pretty lame compared to Papa John's, Domino's, etc.
Pizza Hut was great in the 70’s. Too greasy now and I get heartburn from hell from their sauce.
If your from the east coast you know pizza huts "big new yorker" isn't real new york style pizza and we only buy pan pizza from pizza hut. If we want new york style pizza we'll just go down to the corner and buy the real thing from our local pizzeria, we have them all over the place in every town and city, and we grow up eating it all the time and love it still.

I've been demanding this pizza back for literally 20 years. I'm so excited.
My biggest concern was that it wouldn't taste the same as it did back then. They didn't disappoint. It's just as greasy and tasty, and I think it's even better now with the addition of bold pepperoni.

Pizza Hut has never been a fan of making “real” NY style pizza as the ingredients would cost more than $2 per pizza to produce.

Lately I find most fast food unappetizing at best, but this actually looks pretty good and it passed the Reviewbrah test to boot. Decent flavor, the crust doesn't fall apart when folded, and $14 is not a bad price at all for a large pizza.
