I just recently purchased a Bernina L 890 & your videos are most helpful. Although I do have a blind hem foot for my machine, I agree with what you said that the most finished look will come from my Bernina sewing machine or sewing by hand. I especially prefer sewing a hem by hand when it's for mine or my husband's dress pants. Thanks for all you do to create these videos!

Hi Maegan, Do you LOVE the L890? It's the best, most versatile serger on the market and has the most beautiful stitch quality. As you learn the L890, if you need help, just let me know and I'll be happy to answer any questions. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Cilps!

Nice tip about loosening the needle tension....hadn't thought about that, thanks for posting!!

Hi , loosening the needle thread tension minimizes puckering. That why it’s great having the ability to adjust tension settings. It will give you a more professional finish. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

I always love your serger tips! I will definitely try this for large projects like curtains.

That's exactly the type of project where I'd use a serger blind hem-not on a garment. (Unless it was a Halloween costume!)

Hi, These technique's are so clever. I've never seen anything like this. Am i right in thanking we could use any overlocker to do this ?

Hi Krissie, yes, most overlockers can do these techniques. Having the right presser foot is very helpful so let me know if you have questions. Thanks for watching!

I’ve been wavering between the triumph & L890 . Are you able to give me any of your preferences between them? Thanks ❤

Hi Diane, both are very fine machines. However, the BERNINA L890 has multiple advantages. It is the only machine across the board that has a 9mm wide overlock stitch-stunning. You can also save up to 100 stitches in the memory because it has the computer interface. You also have the best of both worlds with tension. If you want auto set tensions, select the stitch and the machine sets them. If you want to tweak the stitch for specialty fabrics and/or threads, you have that freedom. Also that allows you to create soft gathers or tight, full gathers. I suggest that you test drive both machines and see which one appeals to you more. Every sewist has his/her own style and budget and my closing words are April is National Serger Month. So whichever you select, there are fantastic sales and bundles everywhere. Good luck and happy shopping!

What's the big deal between 8 spools & 5 spools? Can I add spools to the L890 on a separate stand & do similar stitches? I do like the free arm & tool area on the L890 which Triumph doesn't have.
I'm not that experienced in serger use & either one is a big purchase.
I really appreciate your input & how you make yours sing!
      Thanks

Hi Diane, The 8 spool pins are rarely (if ever) used all at once. I will be introducing a device to add more threads (stay tuned). Let me know if you have more questions. It is a big purchase so you want to feel confident that you made an informed decision and the right one for you. Happy National Serger Month!

I just got my L860. I was thinking about trying this as a finish for linen towels. Have you worked with waffle fabric?

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  ปีที่แล้ว

I haven’t worked with waffle fabric. There is probably some stretch crosswise due to the texture. Be sure to test differential feed on scrap fabric. Another method would be to Finnish the raw edge with a 3-thread narrow overlock and stitch the hem with your sewing machine. Let me know if you have more questions and I’ll be happy to help. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

Hi, The hem depth really depends on several factors- the type of project, your preference, and what will give the best appearance. Thanks for watching!

Tried a few blind hems on my Triumph. Never really liked them on garments . Definitely agree with not being a first choice. Especially not garments. Always seemed liked too much prep work🤷🏻‍♂️.

Looks interesting…but I think I will continue to do it on my sewing machine. What is your ironing system called?

Hi Nancy, I would use my sewing machine as a first choice, but a serger isn’t a bad choice large home Dec projects. My ironing system is a Laura Star Lift. I love it. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!
