Thank you for the details and tips/tricks in your videos. I am in the research process to prep for rebuilding my grandfather's 8BA and this will definitely help.
Need your help. I have a 1951 ford F1 with a Flathead V8 I got it to run. It purrs like kitten. I noticed one head is completely plugged with rust. I got a used set of heads. What do I need to verify on the used heads before I replace them on my motor. Thanks
Hi George, I look for cracks and flatness first, then I check the spark plug holes for good threads and run a spark plug tap through them to clean them out. Clean and flush the cooling passages.
I can see that the engineering knowledge was focused on the power output of only around 80HP when that engine came out. I just overhauled a 1.6L Miata engine, and it had 5 bearings on the crankshaft. And a V-8 only having 3? I'd be leery of trying to run the HP way on on these engines. Not built to handle that. And there's no way to change it.
Hi Ted, 80 HP was pretty good back in those days. Most people that increase the HP significantly add a center main bearing cap support or a beefier center cap. About 300 Hp is all you can get out of these motors.
I really appreciate your hands on video! I am new to flatheads and I appreciate your experience. You do very nice work, and explain very well!
Thank you Raymond
Aaron, I really appreciate the basics shown here. The checks and measuring should be done whether using new parts or reusing parts. Strong work!
Thank you.

Thanks Travis, glad they help.
Muito bom o seu trabalho.parabens
Gracias
Quick question: Did the valves come with shins before you tore them apart? My 8ba factory valves did not come with any shims….
Hi Andrew, the stock valve train when new does not come with shims.

Rope seal for rear main, did not see it capped?
Sorry, just saw part 3, it’s front, and a part of the timing cover. Fun to watch, lots of work for 100HP tradition.
Nice job how much do you want for it?
Hi Dean, thanks, but I sold it already
Be nice if you had a light so we could see
I'll try to do better next time.
