To clarify, The "there was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product" error *most likely* stems from failing to sign in with the correct account via Ubisoft connect. Your Steam, at one point and time, was most likely connected to a different Ubisoft email. This is a result of Ubisoft games using a separate launcher from Steam. If you are not aware of any possible emails that your game could be connected to, then you need to contact Ubisoft support to see if they can switch it back to the proper account. However, as with my experience with them, it is very difficult to do so.
I swear to God Ubisoft has one of the shittiest signings of all time I troubleshoot it for different things and it didn’t work as I was about to punch my monitor I turn off my computer turn it on and I don’t even sign in anymore and it puts me in the game Ubisoft do better
I've done all of this and nothing is working, I checked my ubisoft connect account and it turns out I wasn't using the right one so I switched to it, then I verified my game files, clicked launch, and it did the thing where it starts the launch and then just suddenly stops.
@@garrettclayton5875 If the game is shown in your library then you don't have to sign back into your main account. Just try until you see it in your library, it may have been added to a different account. Or you have to bind it.

Had an ISP outage while gaming and I went to sleep, the next day I couldnt start my game, getting the same authentication problem message. It wasnt the false login though, I double checked both my Steam and my Ubi-Connect were on the right accounts, but a sync error of sort, most likely caused by said ISP outage. Doing the steam file verification forced the system to do another cloud sync, which worked and restored the game for me. So thanks for the advice mate ^^

You can still play it on the Steam account, it is just that the Ubisoft account needs to be changed. This video was posted because this was the issue I, and many others have. The Ubisoft launcher will sometimes sign you out and depending on when you first install a game, it likes to assign the game to whatever email could have last been used. It makes it confusing. I had to go through 3 different emails to find the one I had Uno linked to at one point and time. There was absolutely no other tutorial at the time that I had found that had helped me with it, I came to the solution on my own. This specific problem has only this one specific solution. Otherwise the best thing you can do is contact Ubisoft support.

I had the same problem, and I just opened the game properties and started the run compatibility troubleshooter and that fixed the issue, it was about the Far Cry 5 game that I started via Steam, so legends, try that method, it worked for me
