Sebastian, your channel is both entertaining and depressing for me at the same time. The entertaining part is obvious, because you do such an excellent job with your reviews. But it's also depressing because I have thought about starting my own fragrance review channel as well. But you do such an awesome job that you've set an impossibly high standard ! LOL!
The replica line is quickly turning out to be one of the most consistent lines releasing high quality fragrances one after another. Great to see a high standard maintained 👏
I've just sampled this for the first time, and it's knocked By The Fireplace from the top spot. Absolutely love it, it's like nothing else I own. I agree that it's a soft experience but it also has a lot to say but not in a bold way. I'll certainly be purchasing it 🖤
I've got Under the Lemon Tree, Jazz Club, By the Fireplace and just yesterday, Whispers in the Library. It was like at 1st sniff. I too smelt the booze. For minute I almost smelled a hint of mint and very light, raw leather, behind the Tonka. To me, it is more complex than Jazz Club. It will take some time, to see where it ranks, within the lineup. Lemon Tree is a love so far.
I love reading and old libraries I can't wait to smell this one. Edit: I finally smelled it and I have to say I'm a little disappointed, it mostly smells like a sweet vanilla and slightly woody but mostly sweet. Which in consequence it tends to incline into the generic side.
Hey Sebastian love your review this fragrance is amazing! it smells niche & expensive Gives me Chanel vibes!!! I literally get the old library, full of books and papers with non-scented candles burning and dripping on them. so high quality, very well blended it’s unique, it’s soft and There’s nothing that smell like this one! Simply amazing
I just tried it tonight for the first time. I bought a travel spray size of this and Beach Walk. It’s gorgeous. Warm, dry and even a little sunny in the dry down. Really nice on my skin.
Lol. I just bought this yesterday in Harrods. It definitely smells of some old book shops I know in London, and even a little bit of my own library. I bought it for my wife who is definitely a bookworm and she loves it. Also own Music Festival and By the Fireplace.
I wish they had this in an intense version or EDP. I stopped using it solely due to the fact that it’s longevity is very poor. For the price point which isn’t even bad for a 100 ml, I expected more in terms of it lasting longer than it does. I love woody, sweet, spicy scents. This one is to die for. That’s how good it smells...love everything about it, the theme, the the bottle, except no cap, which means I can’t travel with it. Even though I like sweet (vanilla, orange blossom, neroli, tonka beans etc) scents, I don’t care for overly sick, bubble gum, synthetic shit. This one is luckily not like that!
Sephora got a package deal for 0.34ml travel sprays of jazz club, by the fireplace and whispers in the library.... for 66 bucks so you get 3 fragrances in the package. By the fireplace n jazz club was in my wishlist so I'll see how it smells Wednesday
I purchased there sample pack at Sephora. And I LOVE this dry down. But I also blend it with a small spray of Jazz Club and it’s just delicious. So smooth and chill fragrance for a person like me. I really want to buy a bottle.
I’m loving this fragrance and it lasts beautifully on me and my clothes. I have worn it with Not a Perfume (from Juliette Has a Gun). Lots of compliments, so its great that other people enjoy it.
I just picked up a bottle from a estate sale. It was still in a sealed box and wasnt sure if I was going to like it. I checked out your video and now I am excited to wear it. I wasnt blown away at the first smell, but I didnt spray it on. I am glad to hear the magic happens on the dry down. I'll throw it on tomorrow to get a full feel for it thnx.
@@thehiddenabditory3168 I enjoyed it. It does dry down to a more manageable scent. It’s a winter wear for me. So I’m not wearing right now during this summer heat.
I study philosophy at the university And simply adore the smell of books , I have bought the fragrance few days ago , the fragrance is just magic makes you jump back in time you immediately feel Victorian mood , look forward to purchase the fresh margiela fragrances you suggested in your adorable PRO videos ! I live in Tuscany sir come over to Florence and visit “ acqua flor “ close to basilica is Santa Croce , they produce their niche fragrances the store is such a vintage place full of wooden furnitures , try my favorite “Corp diplomatique” Thanks for sharing 💐
I bought under the lemon trees for my wife about a month ago. She loves it and was wearing it every day until her hands started randomly breaking out in hives. I think she may be allergic to something in it, perhaps the lime. Looks like I’ll be taking new ownership of it lol
This house has so many fragrances that interest me but I've yet to try any. I plan to smell library, beach, fairgrounds and bubble bath. Great review!👍
@@carrotlyn since i wrote that comment I've purchased beach walk, at the barber and lipstick on for my wife. I really like BW and LO but I don't care for Barber's that much.
I just got this on a whim today. Been looking for a new perfume. Initially I wanted the Dior Sauvage, men too bitter. I prefer really musky, spicy and sweet. not much into floral or anything citrusy as it reminds me of dishwashing soap, or cleaning in general. Ironically I wanted a lavender perfume, but can't seem to find anything that is pure lavender. I had a sample from Fragonard which made me hooked, but they didn't sell it on their website. In stores here in Oslo Norway, it was either Malone, or another brand, but none of them smelled lavender to me. Today I just happen to go to the same store again with some friends. I just happen to see this particular one, sniffed it, and fell in love. Exactly what I was looking for. Besides lavender lol. My all time favorites are: Jean Paul Gaultier 2, Dior Homme Eu de Toilette, and Gucci Pour Homme II.
I got this as a sample from Sephora. The vanilla and sweet struck me as the opposite of what I'd expect from an old library, and thus I really didn't like it. But I just spritzed it on myself [instead of the air] and will give it a chance.
Are you aware of their two latest offerings? Coffee Break & Springtime in a Park? They keep up they may rival Tom Ford in the niche/not niche fragrance space lol
I really like this one! I got a decant of it, might get a full bottle after I get done with the sample. I also got all three of Robert Graham on a discounter site. I really like all three, smelled them after your suggestion...
I like the scent, it’s pleasant, but it doesn’t wow me and doesn’t particularly give me any library or bookish vibes. It also seems to have very poor longevity on my skin. I love the concept and the bottle, however. I know this is discontinued but it’s still for sale on some discounter websites… still torn on whether I want to buy it or not.
Juste got my bottle WOW didnt expect it to be that good. This is up there with by the fireplace maybe even better. Much better smelling than jazzclub imo. Great vid 👍 thanks
This fragrance is so unique and beautiful! Thank you for videos, they are very helpful and informative for me when I’m looking to try different perfumes for myself and others. 💕
Maison Margiela is my favorite designer house followed by Velentino. Sailing Day from Margiela smells much better than the much more expensive 40 Knotts from Xerjoff, which happens to be my favorite niche house.
Thanks for the review. I like several of the fragrances in this collection. I have by the fireplace and I’ve been trying to figure out which one I want to get next. So many people like jazz club over this one and I just don’t agree. I 100% agree with you...I’ve been trying out both of them and like you I like this one better. I love the notes for jazz club but I just don’t really get them when I smell it. I’m really disappointed with jazz club not that it smells bad. It just doesn’t smell like you would think based on the note breakdown. Where as this one I do get the booziness along with the woods and the vanilla even though it doesn’t have it in the note breakdown. The dry down is great! I think I’m going get whispers in the library first and probably across sands and then maybe jazz club.
Sebastian, I have By the Fireplace, which I love and my wife doesn't unfortunately, but I haven't tried any of their other offerings. Was a little disappointed by BTF performance. Is it similar with their other fragrances? Am a huge reader so Whispers really appeals to me and from what you said the longevity is good. And the soft experience is fine too. Thanks for reviewing it and will have to check it out. Yet another enjoyable and informative video!
I love their fragrances so much, but they just do not last on my skin. I wish they’d come out with an EDP. Love your comment about how old books don’t smell like this fragrance, haha. I used to work in a library for years, and though I love the smell, it isn’t something I’d want to wear. I’ll have to check this one out nonetheless.
I was so bummed because I had planned on ordering this from Sephora during their Spring/Summer VIB sale, but they pulled it from the website and you couldn't get
Got it last week and LOVE it … and your discription is perfect. Still prefer by the Fireplace and Jazzclub.Bought it after seeing your videos. But.. also got beachwalk.. and… find it a really disappointing fragrance.. don't understand the many positive reactions on this one.. However.. I love maison margiela !!!
Love the house. Prefer Jazz club over by the fire place. Maybe I have to revisit fireplace. The only thing I don't like about the house it's the size of the bottles. The pricing it's all right, but I have only seen 100 ml and 10 ml. A 100 ml it's a lot for some of this fragrances. I would like to see 50 ml or even 30 ml. Speak to them Sebastian 😏.
I was just thinking the same thing when I was fragrance shopping online. The best is when a brand offers 10ml, 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml, 200ml. Atelier Cologne does. Probably why I own more from them than any other house. Other brands should take note.
I actually just blind bought the by the fireplace scent and unfortunately I am pretty disappointed by it.I smell to much balsam and it really lacks the sweetness that everyone was raving about.Would you still recommend this scent? :)

Ehh dry down reminds me of Tom Ford noir/noir extreme like very powdery. Opening is nice like pure malt although not as good imo then the dry down is kind of blah to me. By the Fireplace is still my fav of the line.
This fragrance sounds really good based on how you describe it...especially since some of the notes aren't listed. I will have to try this one out for sure.

This one smells so wonderful but the Sillage is so weak 😢 At the beginning there is a note i really enjoy but can not tell which one. How smells Cypriol? Any recommendation for a louder woody pepper vanilla fragrance? Jazz Club smells for me like Toothpaste or Root Beer. I don't get the hype
