- Are you called to be a missionary? You may be one already!
Saint Francis Xavier and Saint Thérèse of Lisieux are co-patrons of missionaries, although they lived very different lives. While St. Francis traveled all over the world proclaiming the gospel of Christ, St. Thérèse was unable to travel and did what she could in her own town. Both were missionaries in their own right.
Being a missionary isn’t about traveling or living a crazy and unpredictable life. It’s about spreading the word of God to those who need to hear it. So the question is, are you called to be a missionary?
As baptized Christians, we are all called to be missionaries in our own unique way. By living the life God has laid out for us, we can evangelize exactly who God wants us to reach, just by doing our best to live according to his commandments. This is also a part of the universal call to holiness, which not only states that every person is called to be a saint, but also that every person is called to be an apostle-or missionary-of Christ.
St. Francis Xavier lived in a Christian era, and had to leave his home in order to evangelize. We, however, live in a post-Christian era, where the majority of people are not God loving people. The era we are living in right now holds the same kind of ignorance of Christ that the apostles lived in. This means that we don’t have to go anywhere to evangelize. We can start being missionaries right in our own home towns.
St. Francis and St. Thérèse weren’t missionaries because of where they went-they were missionaries because of their hearts. There are so many people in our daily lives that don’t know God. Let us live out our call as missionaries and bring Christ to those God has given us.

I went to Mass one Sunday and I remember the priest told everyone “you don’t need to be a missionary in some far off land , there are many lost sheep in your life that need Jesus.” And it always stuck with me.

Very true. It's very hard in our society these days where people put their greed above everything and they don't want to hear it. But, nevertheless NEVER GIVE UP. SPREAD THE HOLY GOSPEL TO ALL ENDS OF THE EARTH MAY ALL OF MANKIND KNOW THERES LIFE ONLY IN CHRIST.
A prophet hath no honor in his own home. It's nearly impossible to evangelize to family. Families are not going to respect what their parents, children, or siblings say. That's why missionaries traveled to far off lands, and foreign missionaries worked in the home town of the missionaries who left. The Church understood this very well.

Have hope and take courage. Even St. Patrick once felt trapped by paganism when the druids sold him into slavery, but by the love and grace of God, he brought Ireland to Christ. And if nothing else, do as Our Lord said, shake the dust from your feet and go to the next town if people don't hear you. Or rather, go to people outside your family, friends, etc. and share the love of God with them

Hello everyone! Just wanted to ask if you can pray for my grandparents' recovery. Two were sent to the ICU (not of covid but I feel being quarantined is taking a toll on their health). My friends are mainly non-practicing and when I asked for prayers I just didn't feel the support. Now that my other grandparent (grandmother who I love dearly) is also sent to the hospital, this is the only other place I feel safe and I feel have people with the same mindset about God and how helpful a collective of prayers can be. Just small prayers will do! I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Edit (jan. 22) : Just wanted to say my paternal grandmother has passed on. She is one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever known, please do continue to pray for her.
Edit (Jan 26): My maternal grandfather has also passed away this morning. I wasn't as close to him, but I know he was well loved by my mom and her siblings, please do continue to pray for him also and that this pandemic may end as I feel it's been affecting the elderly so much.

Two of the saints who I've asked for their intercession especially these past two years as I've discerned where I am called to go to share the Gospel. They helped me get to NET Ministries and I was able to share the gospel with so many youth in Minnesota. And this year I've been led to a college campus where there is also a HUGE need to share the gospel with college students who are thirsting for truth, and for genuine love, and I've been able to do it while serving with Brew City Catholic! Praying for anyone here discerning where they are called to share the Gospel, and if its meant to be through a specific missionary program!
I don’t think we have ever truly lived in a Christian world. If anything we are still getting there since the crucifixion of the lord.

I've heard of the universal call to holiness and the need to be a missionary since I was a teen. But how?! I strive to live faithfully for Christ, but anything I say gets shut down or suppressed. It's to the point where I can't be too overt, or I'll lose my job. I'm sick of feeling helpless to spread the Gospel, so tired of being branded a bigot for proclaiming God's creation and redemption. I only want to do His will, but fear that whatever I do is ignored and never enough.
I feel this way often... like a fire is blazing inside and you want to tell people about it because you love them and want so much good for them. But I've been shot down a lot too.
Someone in my family who I pray for every night to be saved told me that it's more attractive when people see you live your faith rather than talk about it... If you keep the fire burning and you keep praying for people and doing your best to be holy and to stay close to Jesus, they will be drawn to that warmth and that light that lives inside of you. Keep praying and keep loving people where they are and trust God to do the work. And know that God hears your prayers and sees your love. I'm a Christian today because one of my best friends prayed for me for over 10 years. Don't give up ❤
But.... you do something nice to someone. And he/she asks you : what do you want or do you need enything?? And I just, I just wanted to make his /her laught or nicer day or whatever... and I think it's something wrong with that? Anyone can do anything nice without to do or to ask something back?? Sometimes I'm very dissappointed....

Something i learned is NEVER make a point of anyone's sins. You don't have to go there but make sure they know that all is forgiven for the asking. Just give them the good news and as they grow they realize them on their own.

Maybe start with little steps like wearing something with a Cross (like a little necklace) or something like that, read a catholic book in public, have a Christian lookscreen on your phone/pc... ? It’s normal to be afraid at first, but pray to Jesus, start and little by little it will be more easy
