Important things I wanted to note turns out this video is really bad, not cause of my take, cause I still stand with what my thoughts on the film were, but because I explained it terribly. Notably I pointed out that the experiment reveal happens way too late in the movie for my liking. This is due it happening in the last 10 minutes of the film. Meaning that the mystery that was inticing you to sit through the movie doesn't matter because it was never real to begin with. Yes I acknowledge the fact that the stuff was real to the main character since the experiment is on him, however that doesn't change the fact that in my opinion the mystery that was being built was a lot more interesting than the eventual pay-off from the reveal, which just left me disappointed and not caring. I also want to clarify that me saying this is "basically just a dream revealed twist" was hyperbolic. It is obviously not a dream in the movie, and that wasn't even the point I was trying to make, but due to my delivery, it seemed like a point that I was trying to make even though it was meant to be an over the top comparison. My point was that the reveal leaves you just as disappointed as an actual dream plot twist would. Since the much more interesting plot doesn't really matter that much anymore, it all gets recapped to fit this new narrative set up in the last few minutes. Again if you fuck with that I'm happy for you, it is a popular movie for a reason, this was mainly meant to be a video of me just complaining about what I consider to be an incredibly unnecessary plot twist which ruined what could've been one of my favourite films. Just wanted to clarify some of my points since people seemed to think that my take was that it's just a dream.
My parents loved it til they told me they didnt see the ending. Water pooled on the roof of the theater and before the movie was ruined it gave way soaking some empty seats rows back from anyone that were taped up from drips. I saw this movie and the ending sucked. My parents just loved the fact that an act of god spaired them from a god awful ending with a really contrived, played out, hackneyed, and lame plot twist.😂
Your conclusion of what you thought the movie was sounds a lot more clichéd, the movie is not about dreams at all, how did you come to that conclusion? Everything in the movie happened, they were all role playing on the island to get Teddy off of his fantasy life. The ending is brilliant, it insinuates that the experiment the doctor was trying to conduct on the patient Teddy failed and they are going to perform the lobotomy, but the real question is did he choose to fail the experiment? You said in the beginning of the video that "I may just be really stupid " and I have to agree with that statement, you don't get the movie 😅.
No my point wasn't that everything is a dream. My point is that the movie was hinting at a really interesting murder mystery film, just to turn out to be about an a lot less interesting (in my opinion) psychological analysis of the main character. My point isn't that it's a dream, but that having a reveal like this in the last 10 minutes is just as dumb as a dream reveal. My Problem is that this experiment reveal happens way too late into the movie for me to care about it anymore. Since the mystery that made me interested in the first place is null and void similar to IF it were a dream reveal. I did get the movie, I just explained my point on the matter poorly in this video. If the twist would have happened at the halfway point or earlier it could've been much more interesting to dive into the experient more.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But yea, you're completely off base. Mulholland Drive, one of my favorite movies, was definitely a "dream" plot. This movie really had nothing to do with dreams. Everything in the movie was "real," but just needs to be viewed in a different context once you know the nature of the reality. I loved it, and read the book immediately after the move, and then watched the movie again. It has a lot to say about mental illness and treatment for mental illness as well. No, definitely not a "hollywood" ending. That's what makes it so great.

your parents are very to have seen some of the best 2 hours in any movie and not have to deal with the ending
Finally someone thinks like me! Yes, the ending was awful. One twist too many.
bothered me as well
