To me, and idc if others disagree, Mike Tyson used the same approach to striking opponents that Rocky Marciano did. The difference is, Rocky was a bit unorthodox where we see his head was always leaned to the side, he had a subtle feint, usually a fake lunge, followed by short compact strikes thrown...what parts of the body? Ribs, temple, chin, breastbone, liver area (on left side). If a boxer...focuses on closing distance...letting their hands go quickly, recoiling from torso up to protect vs counter punch thrown, then quickly reload and strike behind the counter...it's a vicious chain of activity that usually lays dudes out cold. If they do have a chin and heart, it absolutely saps energy or inside provokes angst as we see often with a boxer wilting their defensive fundamentals mostly where we're told to always keep our hands elevated to block further followup punches thrown. It also can become a creative way to bluff your opponent into believing you're hurt, when they charge in or get distracted momentarily (they think they're close to "being ready to go." See Tommy Morrison get brutally dropped by...I think it was Mercer? Marquez vs Pacquiao where Pacman was laid out face first from a check hook, Hatton vs Mayweather same punch and sent Ricky into the ring post.)
Big Teddy Atlas fan. Some people say he's a phony expert but that's BS. If you just listen to him, he knows boxing in such depth that he could explain reasoning without bias.
this must be torture for teddy hahahaha.. the last guy he wants to really talk about or touch on "mike" is the only guy people want to request him to talk about looooool.. ahh poor teddy u gotta love him
Really? You can see how proud he is of Tyson, because Iron Mike's success was really his own success. He was part of the team that built, for a short time, maybe the greatest fighter the world has on tape. No matter how it ended, this is still true, and it will be how Teddy is remembered after he's gone.
@DavidAnthony that’s exactly what l was thinking . I won’t be forgetting how much animosity teddy had against Mike . it’s only the last few months he’s acting like it didn’t exist . Tyson had a great left-hook, too, and as he started to pile up a body count, he had to incorporate new punches because guys were so afraid of it. Hence, the right uppercut as guys would automatically duck away from the left-side load up, and then usually move right into the right-uppercut. And then Tyson could feint the left hook, and get to the right uppercut even earlier.

Aaron Storey Whyte is in a tough place. It’s really hard to counter. The best way to control it is with the jab, which he was doing until he got a bit lazy. I believe a rematch will see a repeat. Most big men are vulnerable to the D’Amato style. A good bob-weave rib banger in Joe Frazier mode is kryptonite for big men getting ever-bigger. Or foul your way to victory, like Klit did.
