Thank you. Your channel has been a savior to me. I’ve had total knee replacement that’s gone badly, I have terrible nerve damage that I’ve been told will take 6 months to heal. The pain is so bad that I’m up all hours. I love watching your walks. . I dream that one day I will feel like walking on the beach again and taking a shell tour with my granddaughter who loves the beach. In the meantime, thank you for the entertainment and distraction you bring. You’re a blessing to me and I’m sure many others too. I have my mother-in-law’s shell collection that she’s mounted in a shadowbox. I can now identify all the shells because you’ve taught me so much. Love it so much and have it mounted over my kitchen sink so I see it all the time. Sometime I’ll try sending a picture of it to you. Once again thank you.
I'm so sorry to hear about your recovery not going so smoothly, but I commend you for learning while you relax! I love this and I'm glad I was able to teach you to appreciate our natural resources whilst being laid up in bed. I wish you a full recovery and an amazing trip to the beach with your granddaughter!

I get to shell hunt without going blind, my hair whipped into a lopsided beehive, no sun burn, no sand chafing, no gut wrenching decisions over which gems to leave behind AND I don’t have to lug them home singing “Oops, I did it again”. I so enjoyed the beach walk; however, I wanted to thank you for another video. This week I had another night where my mind just kept spinning and I just could not get to sleep. I put in my earbuds, laid down, and listened to your beach sounds video. At some point, the sound of the waves lulled me to sleep. I have a white noise machine but the sound marked waves sound nothing like the real waves. Thanks again.

Greetings, Sharmon! Every time you take us to Keewaydin Island, I know that's where I definitely want to go when I come to Florida. Oh my gosh...I think the shells there are the best. So many colorful scallops and just everything was beautiful. My husband is looking forward to my having a "feeding frenzy" and going crazy at the sight of shells as far as the eye can see and of so many gorgeous colors and varieties. Thank you for teaching me how to recognize the different species and their names, and also for showing all of us the critters that live in them. I loved those precious dolphins you filmed today. @@SWFBeachLife It may be awhile yet. Perhaps in the fall when hurricane season is over. Also right now I have two elderly dogs whom I love dearly that have terminal illnesses. I can't leave them right now. But I can plan for when the time is right.

Good day for shelling! I looked up “cantharis” and I’m sorry to tell you it is a soldier beetle or a medicinal preparation thereof. No help in why they named it that. So fun learning all these things and seeing the critters. Never knew those were Olive trails. Too cool!

I wish Micklers Landing wasn't so far away. I had a blast looking for shark teeth there. I was thinking a shark teeth expedition might be nice on a week the tides aren't good for shelling 🤔
I know that you love the alphabet cones, so happy for you that you found some really nice ones! I’m much more a fan of the Florida cones and the Jasper cones. A gorgeous bright yellow orange Florida cone sits in my car console with my treasured travel memory rocks. I found it on Kice on my 50th birthday just before the hurricane. I will be forever grateful for that trip. Hopefully I will get back there soon. And I hope that I will get to Keywadin next time too. I have to say, though, that little bitty alphabet cone was pretty cute. I’m laughing about the common shells because I was finding tons of little tiny white shells that were baby Dosinias and I couldn’t figure out what they were until I asked Beach Bummin Dad (he’s a ‘tuber in the Navarre Beach area) and he confirmed that for me. I grew up finding Dosinias on the Texas coast EVERY WHERE. They are so ubiquitous and I remember being taught to make flowers out of them at a beach community party that I wandered away from my parents at (oops!) when I was 9. 😆 My mom said that she figured out where I would be when she heard there was a crafting tent. Sometimes those common shells really are under appreciated. ❤thanks for shouting out your Patreons. And thank you for taking us to the beach. 🏖️

Being in central Illinois we are the middle of cicada hatches and they are keeping me inside since they fly into you everywhere and when they “sing” they are so loud! I had just seen an Olive Snail in action on Cody & Kellie's latest vlog. At 1:24 shows how it attacks crab bait on a persons' hook. You got me interested in sea life now I am more attuned to these creatures.
I wonder if I watched the same thing. I saw lettered olives absolutely attacking someone bait. I think they're pretty awesome even if they are bait stealers.
I am wondering if you are a professor at a university since you know so much about shells and biology in general. You are so full of energy, inspiration, enthusiasm, and knowledge. Love your videos!

I just got lucky. I actually keep getting lucky. I'll walk for like 20 minutes and find nothing, and then all of a sudden shells. I think my new mantra is, "look harder!" Those shells are out there!

Love to walk the beaches of Florida.The olive shells we get down here in oak island north carolina are very rarely big and pretty like the one you found today
Yes our olives can be found "fresh" so they are pointy and shiny and just so pretty 🥰

Great video! Two weeks ago I got back from a week in Tahiti and the nearby island of Moorea. We stayed 2 nights in an over the water bungalow and there were so many fish. Tropical fish that we got to snorkel with. I looked for shells but didn’t find anything whole. But we were treated to the occasional hermit crab. They seemed to know how to find the shells. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life. I’d love to share some photos with you. It’s too bad TH-cam won’t let us post pictures. I just want to go again so much. I will likely never have the opportunity to do it again, but I want to so much. I live in San Diego county so I might just need to start visiting our local beaches more often. Au re voir or good bye as they say in beautiful French Polynesia.

Regarding seeing critters underwater, maybe look into a waterproof camera? Or even a waterproof case for your phone for those shots.

That Florida Horse Conch was adorable. Sharm, have you thought of doing a video with your own shells for just the ID of the shells? Some of them I'm having trouble with. I do have books but still tough with the ones that are less common. Wow, the peek a hole horse Conch. lol. I think we all passed it over as well 3 weeks ago. lol. :) That cockle was stunning. How do you clean the buttercup lucines? Oh, feel free to add at least 1 lb to your garbage collection. lol. I collected at least that but no scale and not local. :)
The shells that I do not keep I put to the side to sell. They are all organized by species. I could make an ID video using those. This is a great idea....thank you! I'm going to put that on the list after I make the shell mirror!

This is Tammy, the gal who was going to come down and visit Florida with her sister in July. We decided to come into Fort Meyers and then go out to Sanibel and Captiva from there. Any suggestions? And how do we get the guided tours out to Sanibel and Captiva?
You don't need a tour to go to either Sanibel or Captiva and there is plenty of parking on Sanbiel. Captiva is a little tougher with parking, but if you get there early I'm sure you can snag a spot at one of the 2 public lots on the island. I'm going there for the first time in August, I'm excited. I already booked our boat ride out there and it was only 40 dollars per person. I checked prices on who you suggested and it was 115 per person, do they serve food and drinks or something different? Im genuinely asking because I like the bougie trips better lol.. Thank you for all you do for our entertainment.
You are taking a shuttle. The people are lovely and will help you see dolphins and whatnot on the water, but once you get to the island you're on your own! Now the 115 per person trip comes with a shell guide that will actually either point out good shells to you, or help you find whatever good shells are at the location you are at.
So you can do a DIY trip or you can have a guide. The guide costs a little more 😃

This is the Atlantic Ocean, right?
The North Sea here in Germany is connected to the Atlantic, too. Since the North Sea has some very noticable changes in tide, I've been wondering how far the ocean retracts at low tide.
Here at the most extreme low tide can retract up to 15km.
I assume the Gulf of Mexico is more like the Baltic Sea. More enclosed, less open and not as extreme tides.
We have some good low and high tides a few times a year but it only fluctuates a few feet. The Gulf of Mexico isn’t the Atlantic - it’s protected from land on 3 sides.
Have you seen sharks hunting at the shore line.

True tulips are way harder to find!!! The banded tulips have those dark black/brown lines that go across the shell.
You would make SO MUCH 🤑💰💸💸💸 recording over & over from this 📹 sound of soft 🌊 by repeating that BEACH TIME.
I have not found one like it to SLEEP.

Are the alphabet cone animals venomous?
They are, but to us humans it's more like a bee sting. Our cones here in Florida are not like the other poisonous cones found in the world.
