If you watch 1030s films Great Depression, they r all positive n optimistic.where thr little guy wins. Where love prevails. Theres always a way. God bless yall
I totally gave up dryer sheets. I use no fabric softener at all now. And I don’t see myself going back. Laundry is perfectly clean, smells fresh and no static.
I no sooner said to myself “Emmy’s hair is always beautiful”, when you disagreed 😥....I used to complain about my hair, too....until a dear friend had chemo and lost her hair....right then, I made myself a promise I wouldn’t do that anymore, and I haven’t....God blessed you with lovely tresses, I’m encouraging you to embrace them....I’m willing to bet none of us think you look anything but lovely on every video.....that’s my 2 cents 😂😂 thank you for the tips and for keeping it real....and for Dixie’s cameo 🤗🤗🤗 Happy Belated Father’s Day to Paul....
I would say when you bake, cut the sugar in half, or even one quarter. Your cookies would taste much better. And I would add if you cut your soda and sweet drink in half you also save medical bills.
Emmy, I absolutely love your last tip about cutting the negativity in half. People who lived through the depression knew how to save yet they were mostly positive.
These are such great points. I have done all of this for years now, I have gone down to the minimal - just keep cutting amounts until you notice a negative difference. I am now in a place where I don’t have to worry about the pennies, but I still think it’s important to be respectful of your money.
There's a saying where I'm from which translates to "If you don't value the penny you don't deserve the quarter". I bet there's something similar in English.
My 96 yr old STEP MOM always chewed 1 half stick of gum. When she passed i put all of her love letters from dad in there with her along with an issue of gold fever with Tom Massies picture with her and the half stick of gum. She was a great lady i miss her
I can't think of a bigger waste of money than buying soda drinks, basically paying for air bubbles and chemicals. I know it's hard to give it up but once you can, it's such a win.
All great tips. I use most of them. The last six months or so, if I’m not feeling well, I don’t tell my family or friends. The more I mention it, the worse I feel. Being cheerful and thankful chases those aches and pains away. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
Lots of good ideas. I’ve starting using cloth napkins instead of paper ones. I’ve reduced my use of paper napkins to zero and paper towels by quite a bit too by using cloth rags instead. You still need paper towels for some things but you can cut them back.
I had to laugh about the soda. I never was a soda drinker. About 2 years ago I purchased a 12? pack of flavored sparkling water (unsweetened). This summer I will finally finish it (I think). I drink a lot of water and tea. For summer I take a teabag and put it in a glass jar (saved from something else) and fill it with hot water. Once done I put it in the fridge for the next day. Winter I take 1 tea bag for a cup of tea in the morning and save the spoon and tea bag for my afternoon tea. Just a few things I save money on. Love your channel; have a wonderful week.
I suggest loose leaf tea then you can use less leaf for each cup. And tea leaf is meant to be used multiple times so just add water as many times as you want and they should last at least one day.
For decades I have watered down shampoo, conditioner, liquid dish soap and hand soap by about 50%. Toothpaste you only need a pea size amount. When people call my “cheap”. I take it as a compliment,. That means their paying attention to what I’m doing and maybe learning something. Lol
Your hair is gorgeous! I'm jealous. Months ago you shared a viewers tip, reusing plastic bags, like cereal bags etc. I am doing that! LOVE it, the thicker plastic makes it so my food doesn't get frost in the freezer on the inside !
You can buy new screens from Ebay and fix it yourself. It's really easy. My husband has had to change my iphone screen a couple of times. Cost was less than $30. Just an idea.
DixieBelle is so sweet. Your hair is gorgeous, Emmy. Great beach cart find. Minimal Mom suggested cutting green pot scrubbers in 1/4-it makes a very handy size. I cut one in 1/2 and two 1/4. One of the smaller ones got grungy and I tossed it without regret. That’s the kind of tip I thought of when I read your title, lol.
When baking, try removing 1 Tablespoon of sugar from every cup and you will never miss it. Again, something very small, but it adds up over the long run. I think it also programs our brains to think about where else can I cut and not miss it. I use 1 Tablespoon of laundry detergent. I have a top-loading HE washer and a water softener. Any more laundry soap than that and I am running multiple rinse cycles.
I think two types of people exist, those who love being frugal and embrace it and those who don't like it at all but need to in order to not live paycheck to pay check. So it must be hard not to be negative, I am very thankful that being frugal and saving money makes me happy. Good tips all around!!
Lol I was thinking how pretty your hair looked. Also, my trick is when a bottle of shampoo, conditioner or clothes detergent gets half empty, I fill it back up with water. It makes absolutely no difference. Shampoo still lathers wonderful and clothes get clean. That is my favorite half trick.
Thanks, we try and stay on track too. We have gone pretty simple, we don't snack, or eat out, or drink juice or sweet drinks. We are now keto and eat more meat, eggs and fish but we also don't eat breakfast so save there. We don't use a dryer, we use cold water clothes wash, brew low carb beer, grow favourite salad veg, no subscriptions, accept second hand items from others like 14 large terracotta pots a friend was decluttering.
Your hair looks beautiful! Good tips Amy, author of the Tightwad Gazette, encouraged us to use less and less until you notice a difference then add a little bit back in... I buy $3 or less books, most of them are less than a $1. We don't have internet so we don't have the streaming channels so I have been buying DVDs cheaply when I find them. We are very blessed.
Always great ideas! I love to get a personal or handmade gift. I also thrift things for certain people in my family especially my daughter. She prefers things that are not brand new from the store plus you can get great one of a kind items.
Love all of these! As a Dental Hygienist, I will tell you it is the mechanics of your brushing vs the tooth paste that gets your teeth clean. I often recommend the size of a pea for tooth paste. You foam too much with too much paste and shorten your time of brushing. It’s the time2 minutes) brushing that’s important, not the amount of tooth paste So much of frugality is a mindset. With a positive attitude your abundance is so very obvious that you can not help but feel blessed! LOVE the library!!!!! Best use of our tax dollars by far! So many resources to enjoy. I’ve been doing a lot of fiction as well as non fiction reading. By using my library, I’ve saved hundreds of dollars! Thank you, Emmy and Paul for again delivering spot on advice! I love your channel!!!!
I was just thinking that your hair looked extra nice! Dont feel bad about your phone! I had tucked mine in front of my swimsuit forgot it and jumped in!
Many years ago, maybe 30, I read an article in a newsletter called Use less Stuff. The name of the article was The Halfs and the Half Nots. The idea was to dilute all cleanser by 50% with water. Then, but the amount you use in half as well. Once you see how well that works, but the amount in half again. If it still gets things clean, half the amount again. Keep doing that until you find the exact amount of soaps and cleansers you need to have it clean. And remember, you don't always have to see soap bubbles in order for the soap to work. And,if you do see even a bit of bubbles, the soap is working!. Love all your tips...have done all you mentioned, except cut cable package in half. I've ever had cable. Love you, too! ❤
1.happy fathers day, paul 2.happy anneversary. 3.I just came in from dollar general.got a big 34 count box,30 gallon sized d.g home brand trash bags.$7. Got a 24 ounce bottle of dawn dish soap,$3.50.
Great tips. Yes everyone screws up sometimes. I returned some items to Home Depot a couple weeks ago and for some reason they issued a gift card instead of the refund. I put the card and paperwork in my purse but when I got home I couldn’t find it. Called the store but they couldn’t reissue it. Called other places I stopped but they didn’t have it. It was for $115.00. So I cut some more corners to make up for the loss of the gift card.
Your most motivational video to date, Emmy and Paul. So happy about that amazing beach cart! Kind of balanced out the phone. Cutting negativity is a good one and everyone needs reminders. Wave to Dixie-Belle!
My father always said that he said tomorrow never comes just do it today 😊❤️ you look great. I put a dot of toothpaste on the brush and I use bar soap for shampoo....I also break up soap scrapes put in warm water in a soap pump for hand soap for the bathroom sink
Your hair looks beautiful! And I had a HUGE frugal fail this week too (killed our "teenagers car"🤦..now to buy a new (USED of course!) one.😭 Thankful for savings and being frugal!
I agree about your hair it looks good and with a tan you do not need any makeup;) Sorry about your phone, but at least you got the cart. When one door closes a window opens, always be positive as you say. To save on gas I only shop on my way home from work it saves big time on gas and leaves my weekends free from shopping.
So sorry about your phone. I understand. Last year I put my phone in my pocket and went bike riding. My phone fell out of my pocket and a car went by and drove over it. What a bummer!
Already doing the toothpaste, I was like, wait, why do I have to fill the whole toothbrush!??! I'm doing a 1/4 of it!! Started the shampoo/conditioner recently. Cutting snacks and eating out(though one)too. Thanks for all these tips. My bf says, he is so happy he found a frugal lady?!?!?! LOL....
Hi consider getting an OtterBox . I have 4 kids and my phone is always getting tossed around. It's lasted me 3 years so far. I always appreciate your tips . Great show!
Love your curly hair! Great tips too! I have to do towels and sheets in hot, to be sure they’re super clean. Rinsed and drained canned brown lentils are a great meat stretcher. Oh, and lime juice w Splenda in the water. Yum! Or even club soda.
Great tips! I like the cart you found. I do many of the things you said. We only eat take out twice a month, sometimes less. Thank you for a great video.
I like lavender face wipes when I freshen up before bed. Had been cutting them in half and now in thirds. Plenty for a sweet fresh feel and lavender fragrance is good for sleep.
Great ideas, Emmy and Paul. I like the streaming Tv better than the cable. Sorry I haven’t commented. The internet has been down. I like the gift idea. I will be thinking about that one. I love frugal. It is the way that I get to enjoy life on a limited income. I have passed up the Prime Days and other sales.
I re-elasticate my cotton knicks, always have done. I also re-elasticate my waist slips. I am now using half laundry liquid and half water, no difference in the wash, which I do on 30 degrees, don't use a dryer, I use the clothes line, or dry off inside on a clothes horse. Thank you for your tips.
A quick idea for the toothpaste, make toothpaste drops. Put a drop of toothpaste on a non stick surface, (wax paper, parchment paper, aluminum foil, a silicon mat) sprinkle with baking soda and let dry for 3-4 days, flip over and repeat. You should end up with little toothpaste dots that you can re-hydrate in your mouth and use just as you would regular toothpaste. This is especially helpful if you have small children who don't know the right size of toothpaste to use. 1 drop per brushing.
I mix my own laundry detergent… borax, washing soda, oxyclean and some scent crystals … a two tablespoon measure for each load . No plastic and my clothes are very clea. I recommend to everyone.
Yes, I do the same and only make it twice a year. The other benefit is not having to carry all those heavy bottles of laundry liquid. I also found if you make the mix into a liquid it is even cheaper. I found my recipe in Rhonda Hetzel's Down to Earth book and blog. It uses grated soap plus your mix the cost saving in Australia $ is $3 v up to $70 for the expensive liquids.
I diy laundry detergent and stain remover. Washing soda, baking soda, castile soap for laundry soap. Fels Naptha and spray bottle of water stain remover. Last forever.
I save eating out spending by browning 3-4 pounds of ground beef at a time, drain, & pkg. in half-pound packages for the freezer. I do the same with sausage. Dinner goes together in 10-15 minutes.
Great video! Love the 1/2 ideas! I already do a lot of them but it amazes me how many people don't even think to cut things in half such as shampoo, toothpaste and laundry detergents. Its ok if frugal people like us have a fail once in a while because we do so well the rest of the time ;-) Blessings until your next video!
The brand foca laundry detergent is about $8 at Walmart and it works quite well. Lasts months for a family of 6. I use a protein powder scoop and only if it's our soccer clothes I use 2.
I don't use laundry soap unless: It's grossly dirty or, It's new to the house . The amount is less than the recommended, And the soap was already watered down by half. It's the agitation that cleans the clothes
Really great tips. I started doing the laundry detergent hack (doing 1/2 of what the manufacturer tells you to use) plus no dryer sheets…I got the wool dryer balls that you use over and over til they wear out. I’ve had mine for a few years and they work great plus no waste and no harsh chemicals. I cut the cord w/ regard to cable and I use the roku and the library for free content. I bike or walk vs driving whenever possible. I got rid of magazine subscriptions and don’t buy books for myself for most part (if I do I do used bookstores, library sales, yard sales…but very rare I buy any for myself anymore). I use my library ALL the time. I’m cutting my gift budgets and doing more experience gifts and am going to do some of the meal ideas like you and Paul do for his mom and dad. Another one…alcohol. I don’t buy wine except for once every couple of months to have w/ a nice home cooked meal. I used to buy it every week. No longer. And when friends ask about going out to eat, I suggest other cheaper or no money alternatives like going for a walk, hanging out at a local park, going to the museum, having dinner at someone’s house instead, etc. You are so right that there’s a lot we can do to cut costs w/o sacrificing much and it is worth it.
If you use dryer sheets, periodically wash the lint screen with soap and water. The sheets leave an invisible coating on the screen which plugs it up. Your dryer will dry more effectively. Also, if you use a drip coffee maker, cut the amount of coffee you use in half. Manufacturers want us to use more than necessary so they can sell more! Your tan is so lovely...enjoy the summer!
$170 for a screen? I just bought my husband a brand new IPhone SE for Father's Day for $300. We have Consumer Cellular, have had for years, $47 per month for two lines, unlimited talk & text, & more data than we use. Excellent coverage.
We went to Apple to make sure there was nothing else wrong with the device and they gave us a warranty on the new screen and they replaced the camera lens too. The blessing was it was only around $100!
As soon as you said '15 things to cut in half to save money, my husband, Richard, shouted out 'credit Cards'. 😂
Love that! Hubby is brilliant!!! LOL!!

Use the beach cart when u get groceries ...i mean from your car into your house.
Here's my tip. Since it's just the 2 of us I make half a cake mix. Just cut all the ingredients in half. Makes 12 cupcakes or a small cake.
Perfect! Thank you!

So sorry about your phone. I understand. Last year I put my phone in my pocket and went bike riding. My phone fell out of my pocket and a car went by and drove over it. What a bummer!
Yikes! A car?? So sorry Mary!!
I started watching your channel Thank you always positive and great ideas
Awesome! Thank you so much Brenda!
Happy Father’s Day, Paul! Your yard and flowers are gorgeous!
Thanks so very much Deborah!
LOL....
YAY!! Love that your BF said that Cuca!
Toothpaste is applied across the brush, not length wise
Hi consider getting an OtterBox . I have 4 kids and my phone is always getting tossed around. It's lasted me 3 years so far. I always appreciate your tips . Great show!
That's a great idea Candace! Thanks!
I won't have a phone without my otter box i have dropped my phone from a third story balcony and it was perfectly fine! Best buy ever
I love the cotrailian designation for Dixie
Love Love Love your attitude.
From over here in Australia
So very kind! Thank you so much!
Love your curly hair! Great tips too! I have to do towels and sheets in hot, to be sure they’re super clean. Rinsed and drained canned brown lentils are a great meat stretcher. Oh, and lime juice w Splenda in the water. Yum! Or even club soda.
Thanks for sharing Shauna!! Great tips!
There's always Lysol laundry disinfectant--add with the wash, can still use cold water.
Great tips! I like the cart you found.
I do many of the things you said.
We only eat take out twice a month, sometimes less.
Thank you for a great video.
Love that! Thanks so much for being here Renee!
When a foaming soap bottle is empty, refill it with 25 % soap and 75% water. I use this method for hand soap, and will try it with shampoo.
Yes! We do that as well!
I like lavender face wipes when I freshen up before bed.
Had been cutting them in half and now in thirds. Plenty for a sweet fresh feel and lavender fragrance is good for sleep.
Great tip! Sounds relaxing!
Great idea!
Us too Linda! No Prime sales for us lol!
Thanks for sharing Susan!
Love your Vlogs! Such sound advice.
Thanks so much Kathy! Happy you are here!
While shopping I picked up an item hubby asked if Emmy would approve? I reconsidered and put it back 🤣you’re both such an inspiration!!💜
LOL!! So happy you shared this with me!! Thank you!!
It was those money waste paper towels and over priced olives 🤣
LOL!! Thanks for sharing! Man, I love olives too lol!!
I keep my phone in a case. It has saved me so much money.
So smart Glenda!
That’s what I do!
Erin I have never heard of this! Wow! Thanks for sharing!!!
That’s brilliant!
Thanks for the tip Katherine!
I do that too. Vinigar is another one you can use on laundry. They won't have that musty smell, ever.
I diy laundry detergent and stain remover. Washing soda, baking soda, castile soap for laundry soap. Fels Naptha and spray bottle of water stain remover. Last forever.
Moonstruck and My Big Fat Greek Wedding - my favourites too!
Love them!!!
Good tips...... and simple to do..
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
I never thought of cutting dryer sheets in half!! Thank you!!!
You are so welcome Michele! Thanks for watching!
Your curly hair is beautiful, Emmy!
I don't use dryer sheets. I pour 1 cup of white vinegar for my rinse cycle, and it works very well for my clothes.
Cheyenne thank you! So kind!
Oh my goodness, had to stop the video! Your hair is gorgeous first thing I noticed!
You are too kind Val!!
@@FrugalMoneySaver , nah,, the truth is the truth! Blessings!
Blessings right back!
I save eating out spending by browning 3-4 pounds of ground beef at a time, drain, & pkg. in half-pound packages for the freezer. I do the same with sausage. Dinner goes together in 10-15 minutes.
So smart Nancy! Thanks for sharing!
I used to work with the disabled (who work now) and we helped them with cooking their meat before freezing, to make meals faster for them.
Omg, such great ideas for improvement!
Thank ya'll
Catina thank YOU!
This is a great video. Love your company. Lots of love.
Debbie that is so kind of you to say! Thanks!
Thank you so much Maire! Blessings to you as well!
The brand foca laundry detergent is about $8 at Walmart and it works quite well. Lasts months for a family of 6. I use a protein powder scoop and only if it's our soccer clothes I use 2.
Great thanks Candace!
I switched to Foca, too, and it’s working great!
It saves alot of money to make your own laundry detergent use 1 tbls per load that's it my son and I make it every so often he uses it to ☺️
I don't use laundry soap unless:
It's grossly dirty or, It's new to the house .
Gretchen you are very wise! Such a great attitude!
Great tips Kathleen! I don't use dryer sheets either!
Love the tiger Lillie’s - reminds me of my parents home on Long Island
So lovely...
You are so right about the negativity and saving money! We can enjoy life conscientiously on a budget😅
We sure can!
Your hair looks great. I have straight hair and wish I had some of those curls. Love the necklace too
Oh thanks so much Tee Birds!!
Love these tipps. Never thought of the tooth paste.
So glad the video was helpful Kerstin!
Yes we too would have gone to apple
Don't be so hard on yourself accidents happen
Ritzi & I send Love 💘 💕❤ & Cheer from Texas...Today is My Birthday 🎂 🤪 🤗
