I mean it depends on the game and what you’re trying to do, it’s like people thinking mvc2 is simple for being a 4 button game, ok bud try to hit a Cyclopes infinte then . Or people that think smash bros is simple imputs but can’t hit ice climber desync combos ,but yes vf is insanely deep and high skill barrier, it’s like boxing compared to mma , sure it’s limited without kicks and grappling but with in those limitations are an infinite number of high level traps and variations of landing punches .chess peices are simple and straight forward but it gets exponentially more complex the more you understand.
Virtua Fighter has been, to me, easy to learn, hard to master. Don't need to do long combo strings or constantly poke neutrals. Rock-paper-scissors and just added in mechanics slowly. I can see why Japan treat this game very well.
So, because a fighting game has two attack buttons, that makes it "simple," huh? It's funny how some players completely miss the nuance in the game. It’s not just about pressing a button. Timing, spacing, and reading your opponent matter just as much. But I guess those details are lost on people who only see surface-level mechanics.
We live in an age where the majority of people think a movie is good because it has good cgi in it but completely miss that the plot is bad. This goes for many other things besides movies, unfortunately. Companies have taken advantage of this and took the easy way out, making everything look more flashy and focusing almost entirely on surface level stuff. I hope VF stays as complex as I've heard people say it was. I never played it, but after the teaser, I'm sold. I prefer their approach compared to where tekken 8 is heading
The thing is once you start to understand the next layer of execution , u realise it’s not simple at all, option select throw break, fuzzy guard pokes, oki set ups, just frame imputs to be optimal, I’ll take any snk motion over half of the tech skill in this game any day .
The weight system alone makes it harder to master than most game because you need to learn different combos depending on the weight of the opponent’s character.
I am a new VF player (haven't played since I was a young kid), I ended up setting up my controller kinda similar to Tekken's 1 2 3 4, instead for me it was P PK K KG and then PG on R1 and G on R2. And PKG on L2 for the specials/stance switch.
I want to point something out. I love Ninja Gaiden. Those games have 2 base attack buttons, and you can do alot of combos with them. My point though is about the button timing. You're able to slow the pace down between each attack without dropping the combo. It makes combat feel so much smoother. Imagine if MK was like this, how much better it would feel. The button timing for the dialed in combos makes the game feel stiff. I think this is because the game is based off of frame data. I hope when MK gets a new engine, they'll focus on this. It's not talked about enough imo.
I also didnt like VF much at first, as someone that plays tekken, having a block button instead of holding back is something i cannot get in my head xb but once i went into command training with sarah i started seeing the nunace of the control scheme, the stance transitions, properties, combos.. and after i went through all the moves myself i started looking at the game diffrently
I want them to keep it grounded liek it's always been hut they do need to add visual effects to a Degree for it to survive today. Nothing too crazy or over the top but the game has to look and sound good for casuals to give it a try. But the couple seconds of gameplay they showed of vr6 looks amazing and the attacks really have weight to them. Sounded nice, movement and animation was amazing as well to look at. And the graphics looked nice. add soem flash to the game(again, nothing crazy) and you will gold here
Smash Bros has just two attack buttons, right? Attack and Alternate/Special? And of course there is Shield (Block) and a Grab button. But ultimately, it is two attack buttons and it has a lot of depth to it. I don't think two buttons is a problem.
Sorry but I'm still waiting the part of the video where it shows how the game is not simple. All it was shown was command lists with very few things, even less than those of DOA and nothing more. Don't get me wrong, I used to play a lot of Virtua Fighter 5 back on my PS3 when I was learning Jean Kujo, and I know what kind of depth the game has. Obviously if you compare it to MK, everything and anything is complex, but VF is certainly not more complex or deep than DOA or Tekken, or even SF even when SF has way less moves. It doesn't make the game bad; it's just different.
It's spelled already not aight and people hate way me spell on keyboard number 1 me native American so its part of tradition 2 some of us kan`t understand words like most people that y most of us spell words different like car is spelled kar too some of us even own step family torrey for some reason except for American mother and step cousin whos actually Asian she help raise torrey as orphan baby🦅🇺🇸
"Tekken is better" Tekken is dogshit. It always has been. It tries to overcomplicate shit that's easy to pull off in Virtua Fighter. Tekken wishes it was the Virtua Fighter you ordered off Temu. Dead or Alive is the VF you order off Temu, and Tekken is the Temu version of that. It only sold because the PS1 didn't have VF, or a good port of DoA. Maybe the whole...uh...sticking with Xbox for three games played a hand in that.
Heads up, Fate. Some weirdo is making a roast session about you. Funny thing is they are personally attacking other people in their little rant. I think your opinions on MK1 has rustled some people's jimmies XD
Back in the day Virtua Fighter was called the most technicaly complex fighting game and that is 100% true.
Exactly

Still more complexed than MK that has 4 attack buttons but all you see is "poke poke special" rinse and repeat. Maybe the same combo over and over.

VF is like Fine Wine it just get better with age
I didn't even gear anyone say its too simple....I've heard people say its not flashy enough, but not simple.
Its by far the most complex fighting game.
Who ever said this is obviously new to the fighting game genre. Dead or alive was created to be a more entry level fighter compared to Virtua fighter.
Tru that
More simple doesn’t always mean bad. Just like I’ll take a refined linear game over a bloated, open-world game.

For me this game has 7 buttons
Attacks: Punch, kick, punch+kick,kick+guard
Grab
Special (k+p+g)
Guard

The new one looks absolute brilliant I ain’t gonna lie . The stage and details of the street look legit next gen and I’m excited for it
It really isn’t cause there tons of combinations of buttons to press together which makes way complex enough.

Chess is pretty simple, is only one move at time.
Have no reason to go back to mortal Kombat now especially on the road they're heading

VF lovee

Move lost is a million times longer than street fighter. How is it simple? Lmao. Is SF simple now
FGC wannabes really don't get how good dead or alive actually is. Any take that hints at DOA being anything but good belongs to the trash.
DOA and VF along with Fighting Viper were the Tri Force of FG
VF is made DOA lol ahah
"Tekken is better"

I still rather Tekken even Im not a fan of projectiles like the pink Boskonovitch robot or fantasy characters with magic.
Combos in this game look ugly
