Compared to the Durocut 40-4 - what are are differences? Besides the 2 additional opening and an adaptor I presume - the rest would be the same, my guess? In terms of size and weight - interchangable parts? Thanks

I just bought that head im the smaller cant use 155 line the jagged string edge cuts nice yet im unimporssed with quality and strength breaks off to easy. I woder does the smooth edge lick in hole or just jagged edge. I may go auto wind one length string . Shoving in 7.3 in. String getting old
Hello, I can't seem to find a simple straight answer to my question anywhere, what Stihl string trimmer is capable of supporting a .170" gauge? Not sure how well you know their line of product but I already know my KM 131R does not even come close to fitting that. It's a big investment for me but this is the thickness I need.
There isn’t a factory Stihl head that goes up to .170. They do make a Fix-Cut 31-2 that will fit a .155 line. It’s in this video… th-cam.com/video/nIr2t-bIj4k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bcHiZumpjLqbl35i

Just watched the video and it does fit 0.155" line but ironically on StihlUSA customer reviews they replied "A: Thank you for your inquiry and interest in STIHL products. The FixCut™ 31-2 uses .095", .105", and .130" trimmer line." Either way, having to stop, going thru the hoops (in this case it's loops) of reloading the line into trimmer with 22" cuts and not being able to bump feed, isn't going cut it for me. Too much downtime.
It will fit the155 string but it won't hold it. But I take a little lighter torch and melt my sting just a little and then shove it in and pull on it. That let's those teeth bite in. Works welll.

@@mainstreetmower Go with 6mm or better 7mm trimmerline, it is brutal, but you need a strong trimmer. You don’t need the Metal blade so often anymore. It’s always important for all trimmer lines to put it in water.

0.155 Stihl round line fits this head.

Took the head of my new STIHL 56 and threw it like a frisbee in the trash. The quick load trimmer heads are awesome and much less annoying to use.

Speedfeed is the only way to go. Its literally the best invention for line trimmers since the line trimmer. The rest are inferior.

Those are great heads. I bought my Durocut to run lengths of 0.155 line, otherwise I use an echo sf 400.
I like the concept but the price is ridiculous , i absolutely hate bump heads so feel free to send me a 20-2
