Finally someone understands Keith. You may want to think about starting a STONES tribute band.

Mr. Piccone, thank you so much for your positive feedback! In fact I would enjoy playing in a Stones tribute band!

I always sang the praises of Keith Richards, and then I dissected Jumpin Jack Flash and Gimme Shelter, and surprisingly developed an even greater appreciation!

How did you make the guitar sound exactly like the original version?

Thank you for complimenting the sound. I think using just about any acoustic guitar, tuned to open D, with the capo on the second fret to make it open E, gets it close to the studio recording. The capo tightens the strings to give more attack on the chords and the open tuning allows one to play the chords with one finger, which lets them hit hard and ring better. The Nashville tuned guitar also helps the final sound (I played the Nashville tuning on an electric, but it should have been on an acoustic as well.) I didn't use any effects on either guitar - I just played them clean through my amp.

    Open D ?

Yes sir. He tuned both acoustic guitars to open D and then put the capo on the second fret, which makes it open E. Keith confirmed that the capo makes the strings tighter, giving better accenting of the chords. The one finger barring straight across the fret board also gives more power to the chords, rather than having to use multiple fingers to create the chord.
