🐻 About Me
My name is Anica and I was born and raised in Italy, Rome in 1998. I'm originally from Bangladesh and I've been living in the UK for 6 years, so you could say I'm multinational. I'm studying Adult Nursing at the University of Nottingham, but I'm probably going to be like those people who study something but end up doing something completely different as a career.
✈️ My TH-cam Project
It's a research about me travelling to explore, interview people and tell you about life satisfaction and living expenses of different cities across the UK. This is so that I can find the right place to live. I hope this project helps you to decide where you want to live next too.

Giulia´s point of view is spot on; work-life balance is non-existent, kids stay at school for very long hours, wages are low. The weather and dishes are nice, and in general it is safe. Portugal is not a modern country compared to other European countries, locals love burocraziness and enless paper work; people are very laid back or simply don´t care that much about what and how things are happening around.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this Marjolein!
Can you explain to us what you mean by “work-life balance is non- existent”... in Portugal? That is absolutely ridiculous!!!
Portugal is not a modern country compared to other European countries...which other countries are you speaking about? In what way is not modern? Universities? Health care? Motorways? Communication networks?
People do not care about what happens around them? Internal affairs? International affairs? Once again, your comment clearly demonstrates that you do not know what you are talking about!
Locals love bureaucracy? Which local are you speaking about? If you are speaking about official bureaucracy, “locals”, as you call them, are always complaining about that.
Etcetcetc
To be frank, you just made the most unfair, unrealistic, imbecile comment I have heard, for a long time, about Portuguese and Portugal. A ridiculous, simplistic generalisation.
By the way, where are you coming from?
Kids stay at school for very long hours? Like 8:30 - 13:30 everyday from monday to friday is that such long hours? Lmao...where do you want kids to be? On shopping malls?
@@nunopereira526 some kids stay in school 8:30 to 18:30. Many more would need stay that long if there weren't grandparents, nannies and empregadas picking them up, since the work schedule for their parents it's generally 9-19 (usually with 1 hour break)
@@nunopereira526 nice interpretation
I love watching this girl exploring new places with such poise and ease.
Love your way to inform people who are thinking of moving to Portugal 🇵🇹. Keep it up sister 👍
Anica, you have made a wonderful video. You have answers of all relevant questions from two different individuals. In the video, you have covered all the pros and cons of living or chose to live in Portugal. So keep it up stay blessed.
This is so relaxing to watch, making me want to go to portugal
Thank you! This is a very well done overview of life in Lissabon! It is not 'professionally made'" but handmade, but this gives it its charismatic value! Comparing to other peoples videos about Lissabon it is so beautifully made and well thought through! I enjoed it and got lots of information that I was interested in. Continue like this, you are very great!
Thank you for the informative interview. I encourage you to keep making content, you are made for the camera!
Thank you for the fabulous video!
What a candid and nicely paced vlog about your experience in this lovely country. Greetings from Madeira. We wish you all the very best in your adventures.
Amazing Vlog...keep it up ❤️
This is clearly my sign to visit Portugal 😍 I really want to travel there 🙌 love how you interact with the locals 🥰

You most welcome in Lisbon . Need any help write to me
Giulia's comment at 8:33 is very very accurate in everything she said. Lisbon is a very nice place to live, yes, but there are many drawbacks. Unfortunately, since the start of the war in Ukraine, it became more expensive than many other European cities: the prices of food and supermarkets skyrocketed much more than in Spain, for instance. The problem is that the wages here in Portugal are fat lower than in Spain or almost any other country in Europe... Nonetheless, I love Lisbon and love Portugal 😊
Very informative video thanks 👍
My hat's off to you-bravo!
Short and crisp video. 👌
Great review.

I wondered where Cristian and Giulia were from. Looked like a great get-away holiday. It's interesting that Giulia like Denmark. Thanks Ann.
Hello, it's Giulia here! I am from Italy and I believe Christian is too. I have been living abroad for 10 years, 5 in Denmark and 5 in Portugal! I really liked living in Denmark, I believe it is a very child and family friendly city (except the weather, of course)
@@giuliadevita7536 why do you live in Portugal if your heart is in Denmark? Just because of the weather? That makes no sense.
@@Frankygoestohull1 it might make sense if it's not only about me but also about my partner and family. Life is a compromise, if you don't want to spend it alone on a desert island.

The first step to successful investing is figuring
out your goals and risk tolerance - either on your own or with the help of a Financial Advisor. If you can get the facts about savings and investing with a well detailed plan, you should be able to gain financial security over the years and enjoy the benefits of managing your income.
I think the pandemic have really taught
people the importance of multiple streams
of income, unfortunately having a job
doesn't mean security.
Successful people don't become wealthy
overnight. What most people see as a
lance wealth, a great career and luxury is a
result of smart work.
@@alexmontrey5372 It's not how much money you save in the
bank, but how much money you earn and
how hard it works for you. Money devalue
over time, investment is the best option as it
grows over time
I think the key thing here is working with a
professional. Yes people have devoted their
lives to making profits in the market, but
those of us who haven't but are interested in
investing can simply work with them.

We are moving to Portugal but we aren't able to find any house or room on rent ...any suggestions?
Me too
If that danish lady thinks Denmark is better than Portugal, why is she still living in Lisbon??? Oh come on, some people think others are idiots. I don’t know many portuguese interested going to Denmark (almost no one is), instead there’re loads of danish moving to Portugal. Facts speak for themselves.
Ps: I agreed with most of the cons she pointed out, but all countries have social issues. In fact, if you balance pros and cons, very few people (tbh almost no one) would pick Denmark instead Lisbon, unless you’re from an undeveloped country and judge everything based on how big is your salary.
Is she Danish? I think her Christian name is Dutch... it does not make any difference. Poor creature. Poor mentality!
I am not danish, I am Italian, and no, you cannot always choose to live where you want when you have a family. Actually, there are a lot of Portugueses living in Denmark and in the Nordic countries: that's because salaries in Portugal are pretty low for having a good quality of life (now also housing prices have increased a lot).
@@giuliadevita7536 I see a lot of Italians in UK, where I live, and, in fact, in most European countries, as well as in the States, Brazil, etc. It seems that in your own country, particularly in the South, Italians have to emigrate in order to have a better quality of life.
@@lsvmuk yes, of course. I was referring to Portuguese because the answer was about them. I personally find Italy and Portugal very similar in work-life balance and wage issues, and in other things too.
@@giuliadevita7536 thanks for valuable information ℹ️ mam
How about the universities
Lisbon is a great city, but it's far from being the place in Portugal with the best quality of life. It's probably the worst, like most capitals in Europe usually are. Most portuguese who do not live in Lisbon (like me) will probably agree with me.
Good point. Do you mind letting us where you recommend for a kiwi to move to in PT? I like rural within 10km from a nice town. Thanks:)

Isn't it that king's landing 😁❤️
it does kinda look like it 😂 but King's Landing is actually Dubrovnik, Croatia
Yeah, king's landing is in Crotia. But actually, for House of the Dragon, parts of the Targaryan (sp?) place, if I'm not mistaken, was filmed in Portugal. If you google Portugal and house of the dragon you'll see it.
In the month of June and July tickets are too much expensive 200 Euros/ person
Because people usually take their annual leave or summer vacation at that time, hence the price surge.

Hi
Hi, I am trying to travel to Scotland as I await the end of covid mandates, but friends tell me to consider Portugal. I am so ready to travel again, but I do not want to risk my long-term health by getting a vaccine. I think I am screwed.
LOL 🤣🤣 Antivax need to stay HOME !!!
If this vaccine still is or will become again a thing, be prepared because Portugal has been very restrictive for those who are not vaccinated, with very limited possibilities in participating in society.

Isn't a salary of €1000 too low?
In Portugal that salary is okay.
Are you from madem
im also from Bangladesh
Some corrections. Minimum wage in Portugal is 705€. And the avergae salary IN Lisbon is more around 1300€. Stay cool guys
700 euro per month? What is the yearly average salary? Thanks!
@@edmund6392 do you have a calculator multiply it with 12 simple 🤔 yoi could have answer earlier than writing a comment here 😉
@@faizansattarkhan1113 not exactly. Portugal minimum wage in 2022 is 9870 per year, but this is more than if you calculated 705 x 12 (this would be 8460). So where do that plus 1410 euros come from? The a answer is that Portugal minimum wage is 705 payed 14 times a year and not only 12 times, and yeah two times a year a person receiving minimum wage earn 1410 euros instead 705 in 2022
@@LHollan thank you for the clarification.
@@faizansattarkhan1113 if you can't answer then stfup
Are you Indian?
You say Portugal is a poor country. It’s all relative isn’t it? First it’s important to differentiate between Lisbon and Portugal. Portugal itself may be poor compared to Northern European countries but not in comparison to non European countries. And Lisbon itself is not a poor city at all. It’s comparable to any mid size European city in terms of economic wealth and culture etc. I think you may have had a negative experience there otherwise you wouldn’t have characterized Portugal in such a simple and misleading way.
I talked with a local who was born and raised in Portugal and said the exact same thing. I think you just need to accept that people don’t always have nice things to say.
Please, google a list of GDP of European countries and you will see Portugal is just 1 place above Greece, on the 19th spot of all European countries - in terms of gross domestic product, a good indicator of wealth. You will see that Germany (top 1) has a GDP of almost 17 (seventeen) times more than Portugal.
Frank G She is comparing with Bangladesh, her wealthy background.rsrsrs
@@Estrelein Lady, why are making a point of writing negative opinions about Portugal? Let me tell you something....Portugal is not a poor country!!! Portugal is not as rich as some other Europeans countries!! That is different.
By the way, are you a rich person? Very probably, you have not even made as much money as I have made, during my professional life. Should you, or 95% of people around me, feel some sort of complex of inferiority, as a human being, for not having generated the same sort of income as me? Material wealth is not the most important thing in life, for individuals and countries
@@SoloAnn If you talked with somebody born and raised in Lisbon, who used the same words, then there is no way your opinion should be contradicted. Are you serious?

Where Christian and Giulia are from?
They said that there’s no racism and people are nice, they are Caucasians.. any idea how Portuguese treat people of color.
Beleive it or not, Portugal is not considered a "poor" country, according to 2022 statistics Portugal is 49th place out of 177 nations by gdp. It's has a medium sized economy like a majority of European countries, not as rich as the UK, Germany, Spain but most certainly not poor. I would compare it to places like Poland, Romania, etc. Actually the national minumum wage has been increased to 800 euroes a month. Of course if you have a good education you can make a lot more. The main problem is it has a aging population and most of the young educated people leave and work in other countries just like the Polish, Lithuanians, Latvians do. Do to the high influx of Americans, the demand for homes has sky-rocketed making things unaffordable for the locals. Relatively, it has a stable economy, one of safest countries in Europe, beautiful weather and friendly people. Nice video by the way.
Good informative video, but sorry I couldn't find Christian phone number,
I left his Facebook name in the description box.
Not expensive? are you kidding , there is a housing crisis in Lisbon and Porto right now.
Might i point out out that he said 800 euros and the rents start at 1000 euros.

@@SoloAnn that is a good lie
Did I hear that correctly ? Did she say Portugal is poor , lmaoo buddy is from Bangladesh and says Portugal is poor. Bangladesh is a bottom of a barrel country with over 37% of the population living in debilitating condition in abject poverty and you calling Portugal poor, the irony 🤣🤣
I’m not comparing Portugal to 3rd world countries 😉

Would be nice if you actually thought what a scripted video would do to make this relevant and topical. 😮
It's funny....Portuguese leave to the 3rd. world for a Better Standard of Life and 3rd. world people come to Portugal "thinking" they are going to get a Better life LOL🤣
