I’m glad Wyatt didn’t come out completely unscathed. 30v1 is a pretty absurd feat in a fighter.

@@ekhidna4 they came up earlier during the training sim and as a reader you kinda shrug them off, picturing them as lizard like humanoids. Ok whatevs, then the raiding party turns up and you’re, ok. The you get the description and it’s “holy f***”. Holding off describing them until it was needed to establish the stakes was a nice touch. Most would have described them as soon as they were mentioned.
And making them so alien, instead of “humanoid variant”, bam!
I am at a loss of words to say how much I am enjoying this story.

I do love how the APN Noir is destroyer but Babylon 5 type of destroyer that is in reality a battleship. I do love how we get a load out of the main secs of the Noir, something i would see in David Webers Honor Harrington series. Love how you roughly explain how the boogeyman stealth system works.
I do love how Wyatt geeks out at how awesome the ship is, often not listening what Cynthia was saying to her. Sounds like the Noir is a OP capital ship for this part of the galaxy.
Interesting to here Wyatt has past experience with the Drazin which has left with a eternally hatred for them. He has a thirst to kill as many Drazin he can and wishes ever single Drazin dead. I do love you awesomely have Wyatt describe how describe how horror the bloody plants 🪴 are which totally unnerve everyone but the RMs.
I do like how Wyatt is able to inspire nearly all of the captured tratiors to add them against the Drazin. I do how Wyatt private admits to Cynthia he doesn't want to do his crazy plan with his lone fighter. I do love how much Cynthia was doing everything she could make Wyatt to change his mind was because of her princesses orders to protect him, is person of high value to the Prince but also she values Wyatt as a rare true friend for herself but also Clara.
I do like how human Wyatt is when he screws up with how his emotions and overall plan by forgetting to slow down after a certain time and catches the Drazin's attention too early.
Interesting to see the battle that makes Wyatt a legendary fighter pilot with him killing 30 Drazin fighters with his lone fighter with only moderate injuries.

I do love how annoyed Cynthia is with Wyatt when Wyatt admits he is poor at naming things and how she herself also is poor at naming things. 😂🤣
In many ways how Uriel, Clara and i think Juliana think of Wyatt combined together gives a accurate picture of who Wyatt is. Someone who has strong sense of right and wrong but is willing to bend them to a degree to survive and if later a chance to deal with the injustices happens, then take it. That he is totally loyal to the nation, the royal family and those HD cares about. He is a competent, intelligent, compassionate, great poker face and hyper lethal.
In many ways Wyatt reminds me of Victor Cadach of the People's Republic of Haven/Republic of Haven from David Webers Honor Harrington series. Someone who can totally hide how he truly feels and be like a terminator towards enemies who need to be eliminated. Then other times with people he trusts can tease him and he gets flustered. 😂
I’m wondering if wyat wasn’t born and raised in one of those Drazzn cattle farms he mentioned
Another masterful chapter. I know everyone wanted Wyatt to command the black ship, but I am very content with him not doing so. It wouldn't be conducive to his character... he has never commanded a large vessel before, and he would be completely our of his depth. Him destroying 30 drazzan fighters on his own tho... what a masterfully concocted way for him to participate in the battle. 30 v 1, and he comes out on top. I wonder how many fighters they have left? I am on the edge of my seat wondering how this battle will progress.

@ekhidna4 also, I did absolutely enjoy part 2. The way that the ships systems interface with the pilot and the fact that he was not operating within a fleet, makes it believable that he would fight the ship.

I have to say, this story the best I have ever read & listened to. Yeah I read the new parts as they are posted on reddit and then come back here to listen to it.

I was expecting Wyatt to turn to the conscripts and give a simple warning, “I have taken responsibility for you, so you should know that if any of you do anything to sabotage us, fail to follow an order, as long as I live KNOW my last act before my own execution will be to take any traitors lives slowly in the time I have left.” Then a step closer “Note that I will ensure the most excruciatingly painful death you can fathom.” Then a brief pause before turning and leaving.
After hitting them in their ego, little more was left to be said. Galt and the others know that if they try something, they are dead.

The one thing I will never understand about the Raptor Fighter is why they have such a limited ray of missiles from the way they are described. They are either equivalent in size of old Earth, fighters or slightly larger. That would mean they would have a higher amount of ammo then what the story portrays.😅

26:02 barrel roll or canopy roll? Also, the present tense not the gerand is needed here; i.e. "...to barrel roll and weave erratically" not "weaving erratically" in this case. In PvP simulations, it's very easy to land shots if the pilot is barrel rolling and weaving erratically. Canopy rolls are the easiest way to break a gunnery lead (although not fool-proof) and significant imperfections in the canopy roll goes a long way to keeping the enemy ordinance at bay! Also, if you get within point blank range (the range within which manoeuvres cannot be executed sufficiently within ordinance travel time to dodge incoming projectiles), manoeuvring won't help you unless it's to get your ship outside point blank range.
