  • My very honest thoughts on the differences between training as a corporate flight attendant compared to a commercial flight attendant.
    CORPORATE CABIN ATTENDANT VS. FLIGHT ATTENDANT
    The training for each of these flight attendant positions is different and the flying is as well

    There’s a huge difference in training because your old job had an FAA regulatory requirement for flight attendants, along with a regulatory requirement for initial and recurrent flight attendant training. Your new job has none of the above.
    In the corporate (part 91)/charter (part 135) world, there is no FAA requirement for a flight attendant on the vast majority of airplanes because purpose-built corporate jets are generally not certified to have more than 19 passenger seats. Even in the rare cases where a 91 (not talking about fractionals here) flight attendant is required by regulation, there’s still no FAA mandated training. The requirement is simply for the flight attendant to be able to demonstrate familiarity with the available emergency equipment and emergency procedures to the pilot in command.
    The G550 is a special case because it does require an “evacuation crewmember” (not a flight attendant) when carrying 10 passengers or more. This does have an associated training requirement, but the training required is limited to the optimum method for evacuating through the elliptical over-wing exits and making sure the exits aren’t blocked by someone who can’t fit through the window.

    Thank you honestly. The vast range of differences between CFA Schools is clearly depicted here. My school was elsewhere, within my own budget. Without knowing it, you showed us serious quality training and the reasons that set the top standards. Your school had an amazingly comprehensive cabin mock up with berths, tables and functioning elements. The wide array of doors that you practiced on, and the simulators used are leading edge stuff. Not just anyone could graduate from a school designed to scare the living Daylights out of anyone.

      The training school is so important! I can’t stress this enough. There are successful stews that went to other schools but having this kind of training opens more doors

    Do you have any suggestions for me to be ultra prepared before I begin school? In not starting until August. I'm working up until then.. Again, this vlog is really helpful! Thanks!!!

    Lol! You’re freaking awesome, Thank You for being so honest! I can definitely understand why you were concerned tho😬 I currently work as a commercial FA but I want to eventually (near future😄) work as a cooperate FA. Thanks for being you and thoroughly explaining the differences. So while you’re on a role of being honest... is the pay much better?!!!

      thanks for watching and for all the sweet comments :) it was a good transition to switch from commercial to corporate. I think most would be happy with the change! When are you thinking about doing it?

    • @Sunny-cj5ic
      @Sunny-cj5ic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jacqueline Travels ... I want to make the transition as soon as possible. I met a pilot who flies for a private company and he was able to give me tons of information & a business card telling me to “email him & he’ll give me a referral & let the company know” I did & he did so we’ll see🤞🏾 He also wrote such a positive letter for me to hand over #justincase I get other opportunities! He was like a God send.. I applied with A major airlines private company and I’m praying that I get considered for that!!

    I'm surprised you could be so open about training. Since I'll never be in a corporate plane, I guess I'm not as concerned. Doesnt seem sufficient if you go to corporate FA from civilian life. Thanks for the insight.

      I’m trying to be as honest as I can. I felt bad at first but the truth is that the training is very relaxed. Thanks again for watching Sue!

      @@JacquelineTravels excellent information I wonder if a old person like myself can be a corporate flight attendant.. I am a retired officer.. still have a lot of energy and vigor and I think I look pretty good lol if you have the name of your school.. I saw something call Sky angels.. I haven't heard too many people talking about it if you could share the name of a couple of schools if you can't tell anyone the name of yours.. it would be much appreciated I'd love to join you in the air you are awesome

      You have a great name :)
      I signed up for job alerts through indeed.com and that is how I booked my first flight.
      Research local airports and see what companies fly out of there too.
      Hope that helps!

    • @JacquelineTravels

      Hi, flight safety does not help with job placement, you have to network on your own

    I was under the impression in order to be a corporate flight attendant, one had to have several years of commercial flight attendant experience under their belt. That way, the corporate FA training doesn't have to be that detailed since those taking the course have already had the more thorough course provided by commercial airlines. However, you mentioned there was one woman in the class who has never been a flight attendant. How common is that?

    • @JacquelineTravels

      You can be brand new, attend this training and be qualified to fly. Apparently it’s a basic training because there are many different aircraft. I dont think that should affect the safety aspect of the job but it is what it is.
      Previous experience is always preferred but it is not necessary at all. Crazy.

      Jacqueline Travels I am trying to become a corporate flight attendant. I have signed up for this class because I thought I had to take it. I am struggling with obtaining the experience that everyone requires. How can I obtain experience? Will this class help open at least some doors for me?

    • @JacquelineTravels
      @JacquelineTravels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most training schools do not provide job placement. There are staffing agencies who take a small fee for finding you work. It is a rough industry to break into. If it is really what you want to do you definitely need to complete training and have patience and drive

      Hi! If someone has done the training but has no prior FA experience, how does their first corporate flight typically go? Do they get to shadow other FA’s for a couple flights, or are they just thrown to the wolves with all of that responsibility in one go? 😳

  • @SaRo-r8j
    @SaRo-r8j 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You may have answered this question? But do you pay your own training for corporate ?

    • @JacquelineTravels
      @JacquelineTravels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, generally the flight attendant will cover the costs for training. And it is quite pricey. I’ve heard of companies paying for their FA’s to get certified but they are usually already a FA (on the commercial side) and that’s a rare occurrence

      Hi Molly, I went to Flight Safety. If you're looking to become a corporate flight attendant I would recommend them or FACTS. Those are the 2 schools that companies are looking for on flight attendant resumes.
