Thank you for explaining this! I have been playing and performing for 20 years and don't know this. I have known I have needed to learn it for all those years. I am now committing to learn it after you outlined doing it in "3 easy steps". Thanks for explaining it in the way you do!
Thanks for sharing this. This has always been something that I “kinda” know but sometimes fake my way through lol. There’s really not much info on the Nashville number system out there. Keep up the good work!
Hey Colton, great video! I do have one question that's confusing me a bit. The scale is the major scale but say you have a song in a minor scale does this not change how you run through the notes? The number system is following the major scale which is TTSTTTS wheras the Minor is TSTTSTT so would this not change which note it would be on?
Hey Colton, thanks for sharing! How do you use this system to solo over the chords? How would you use it with modes? I believe that shifting the scale pattern according to the corresponding chords is involved. Is this correct?
Hey, thanks for the reply! Numbers are helpful in playing chords AND playing lead over those chords. I use the numbers to help bring out the chord tones over each chord that I’m playing...For Major chords, I look for the 1-3-5 (triad) for each chord and play around that up and down the neck. Knowing the “CAGED” system and the shapes up and down the neck help tremendously too.
@@ColtonRhodyThanks for the reply Colton, I'll give that a shot : ) I'm sure it helps to be able to know the notes on the fretboard while blindfolded too.
How does it relate to drummers ? Drummers don't use notes or chords but I've seen drummers with this system on their sheets that there looking at for a session song or demo in the studio.
What are the symbols means on the sample pictures on the intro sir? I know the minus sign means minor How about the less than and greater than sign means below numbers and what are the other symbols means? Please explain?
Colton has it right. In the NNS the chords are ALWAYS major unless they have a suffix as he explains with the minus sign. If you have been learning from someone who tries to tell you 2, 3, 6 are minor and 7 is diminished, you are NOT learning the NNS.

thanks for the helpful insight!
Job well done my brother! Liked and sub. God bless you my brother in Jesus's name
Will this allow me to solo like you did at the beginning of the video?
Excellent

I want to learn the number system but I'm stuck on step 3... Somebody help! T__T
Seems more complicated than knowing the fretboard. I'd rather them call the notes than the numbers but that's why I don't play this well.

You are soooo... wrong! Better do a bit more research.
@@wtfdouno 🤣
people have been counting chords of music before Nashville was even founded as a city. calling the the Nashville number system is kinda ridiculous.
