Used a nut driver to pound in plastic rivet for lid hinge. Nut driver has hollow shaft that allows nail/pin to slide up in shaft while driver itself sat on top of rivet/spacer.
I bought 2 last Christmas and just put them together yesterday. We were thinking the same thing with preventative measures. Our bolt for the hatch fit perfectly. When you set the timer are you doing one feed or 2 and can you do a video of setting the timer
Regarding setting the rivets in the hinge. I DO have an easier suggestion. Use a section of metal rod 1/4" or so (or a bit larger) as a punch. Just set it on the rivet head and knock it in just like you did with the others. It might take a couple extra blows with the hammer but it works beautifully and only takes a few extra seconds. I know because that's how I did it with my feeder this afternoon :).

I just used a philips screw driver and pushed thru holes and it made them perfect size for rivets.

I had to woller my hinge holes out with Philip screw driver. Holes were too small for the rivets.
