I worked with Brian Sharp and Kelvin Barnes on the drums at Stuarts & Lloyds way back in the early 70's and he was my hero.....a friggin genius! Lee Clark
Saw Brian Sharp playing in the Dockers club in Swansea south Wales in the 70s when I was a teenager, Always remember him playing the Dam busters war theme, with all the effects and the single note more code. The lankaster engine sound. The whole hall rumbled with the sound. HE was a great organist a BBC recording artist at that time.. I still got his album which I bought form him on that evening. Great memories. He played many keyboards to create the wonderful songs
Guitar players this good become household names. I feel so privileged to have fallen in love with organ music. Just today I was sent a video from Alan Haven himself. Last night I was made aware the Former Baseball pitcher ' 31 win Denny McClain' was still playing his Hammond organ after I put my foot in my mouth by calling him an Amateur organist. Careful thinking who is still with us. Oops. Now I'm blown away by the abilities of Brian Sharp from this video at 4:30. That Kawai has A1 tibias!
@SilverHammond Actually the real drummer was an after thought. They were having trouble with the automated drum section on the organ before the performance so instead of cancelling the son, or student of one of the people involved stepped up and played. Not bad considering few if any rehearsals. I just got a Hammond Elegante in perfect working order and excellent physical condition for $150 US here in Columbus OH. How would a 720 & 2 540's sound on it? I have the opportunity to buy for $200.
Thanks for posting this. Saw some familiar faces in those photos.
