I bought a KLX140 and I am a first time dirt bike owner! A lot of daunting information out there but your tutorial was really helpful and easy to understand. Thanks
Great video. I like the design of the KLX air box much better than my son’s 2007 CRF150r. I have to remove the seat, side panels, and then struggle with the removal & reinstall after on his. It’s a tight fit for my hands and lining up the wing bolt & hole that holds the filter on is a pain…which is why I appreciate this design better. I agree on having multiple filters. I always have a fresh one on standby to go right back in after a box wipe down. This way I can clean, dry, re-oil, and store the replacement back in the original OEM packaging without having the bike torn apart waiting. I only mentioned that for those that have never done it 😉 Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for watching! I have since learned that you shouldn't oil your air filter if you think it might be stored for an extended period. Even No Toil can slowly break down the foam.
I just got a twin air filter for my kids klx140l bike. It’s quite a bit smaller in size than the stock one. I think yours is too but just wanted to check.
so can the notoil remove the original filter oil? cause it says it will only remove notoil products, do i have to buy a new un oiled filter or can i wash the old one in gas then use the notiol oil and then use the notoil cleaner in the future, just want to know before i buy it, trying to save some money
I've used NOTOIL on 'unknown" filter oils before, and sometimes it has worked. Maybe because the 'unknown' filter oil was actually NOTOIL. Definitely try using the NOTOIL cleaner first, then nuke it with gas if that doesn't work. After that, use the NOTOIL. I'd recommend having 2 filters that you can rotate.
See if your spray bottle will work without diluting the oil first. If it won't spray the oil at all, then add a small amount of alcohol until it sprays.
@@JCEpperson242 thank you John.....I will try that.....have you ever tried running the bike with out the air cleaner box to allow more air flow.....in the 70's and 80's we set all dirt bikes up that way.
Very little. Just enough so the sprayer will pump it out. Depending on the sprayer you have, you may not need to add alcohol. Use the 'stream' setting with un-mixed oil, and work it into the filter. Still better than the aerosol IMO.

This was my first time making a tutorial video, so I'm really glad you found it helpful!

Aftermarket filters are sometimes thinner than stock. Just make sure it fits the filter cage properly, and give it a good coat of No Toil!
Thank you for the helpful video

Thanks mate really help 👍
Thank you for the video......what is the ratio of alcohol to oil in spray bottle?
See if your spray bottle will work without diluting the oil first. If it won't spray the oil at all, then add a small amount of alcohol until it sprays.

@@stevef8065 I've never gone that far, but I have removed the snorkel and drilled holes in the air box before!
@@JCEpperson242 I'm going to give that a try.....the bike runs rich. The former owner put in a larger jet.....it could use more air. Thank you John.
There’s a little tube at the bottom of my bike with little rock’s in it, is that connected to the air box, idk what it is
That's probably the drain for the airbox. It collects any moisture that gets in, and apparently picks up rocks too!
Nice video. Thank you! Pretty funny too. Mine will probably be a mess. Let's find out.
Keep it clean an bike will last longer & run much better! Use Maxima engine oil 10w40 as well. Stock OEM oil filters.
How much alcohol do you mix?

@@JCEpperson242 thanks.
@@JCEpperson242 not bad idea. Tho the spray oil will get you better coverage without a % of alcohol instead of filter oil. Try the spray can oil.
@@Davido50 I've actually found a spray bottle that will work without adding alcohol to the oil. The aerosol is more convenient though.
How often you change air filter
If the foam starts to get hard or crumbly, replace it.
What is the size of the bolt cause mine flew off and my plastic came off and I was like (O_o)??
It's a 6x14 flanged bolt. OEM part number 92153-0936
@@JCEpperson242 thankkkk you
I have a 140 KLX r L going to bull gap Memorial Day weekend can it climb hills decently well for a new rider ?
If the rider weighs less than 120 pounds, it should easily climb hills in 1st or 2nd gear.
@@JCEpperson242 I weigh about 185
How did you find the air filter for that
Rockymountainatvmc.com has what you need!
I need a KLX frame, where can I get it
Ebay..... of facebook market place
He came out with this video out of no where no review for the bike nothing
Yeah, not a bike review. Initially, I made this video just for my friends that own a KLX140. Happy that others are finding it useful!
Excellent job!
Good job but pls oil it WELL w/ good air filter oil. Thanks! #Maximaoils
Do you prefer Maxima filter oil? What do you use to clean the filter?
You lost me at NOToil
Have you had issues with notoil?
