Another gem from Ye Olde Football Channel showing the great talent and sportsmanship of the 1960s when the FA Cup was the golden prize in the English game. When the great commentator David Coleman said the Rotherham centre forward Jim Storrie was signed for £10,000 my mind went back to seeing him score for Leeds against Everton in a 4th round FA Cup tie at Elland Road in January 1965. I was a teenager back then and was at the game in the Lowfield Road terrace. The game was played on the day of Winston Churchills funeral that we saw on a pub TV. The game ended 1-1 and Leeds won the replay 2-1 at Goodison Park in front of 68,000 fans in one of the most competitive games I have ever seen.
John Ritchie would be back at Hillsborough in 1971 playing and scoring for Stoke against Arsenal in a FA Cup semi-final..

Oh the joy of packed terraces, crowds bobbing up and down, noisy singing and chanting,......
absolute wonderful theatre of the old British game, especially on FA Cup Saturday.
So love and enjoy these uploads. 😀😀😃😃😄😄😊😊

This is from Scandinavian channel, Sport 2, part of the C-More TV package. In the UK you really need a big day dish, to see it.

Thank you for this one YOFC. I remember this one at Millmoor. Colin Mackleworth was called up at the “eleventh hour” to cover Peter Shilton, if I’m not mistaken.

Wednesday and Chelsea both wearing change strips?? Also, old-school goalies without giant mittens on their hands! Thanks for the post 👏👏👏

Good, late fightback by Rotherham but they lost 0-2 in the replay.
Mention in the warm-up how Storrie got the winner, previous round in the match at Villa Park,
winning 1-0 - it was the first match I ever saw but I remember the shocked silence as we trudged
the streets after the final whistle as a very disappointed 10 year old Villa fan..
Just checking the season's league table 67/68, Villa did the double over Rotherham in the league
so it was probably seen as a virtual Villa walkover in that home cup tie.
The Millers were relegated at the end of the season to the Third Division.
Their manager you see here was Tommy Docherty who, rather ironically became our boss about
nine months later and worked a minor miracle to help the club stave off relegation.

When the TV cameras were invited to a football ground to film a special occasion. Whereas today the TV companies turn football matches into circuses to please global sponsors (and countries).

Black and white TV so surely the two teams knew that the kits they chose nearly clashed?
If Wednesday had worn their stripes with the white shorts and socks the shirts at least would have shown up along with the different shorts.

Point taken, although back then Wednesday played in blue shirts with white sleeves, white shorts and blue socks.

Wasteful Wednesday should have won, missed some good chances.
    Chelsea won the replay 2-0.

It'd be great to see the 1968 semi-finals again: Birmingham v WBA and Everton v Leeds. I watched them on the telly back then, but I've not seen them since, just short British Pathe clips. Also the Leicester v Everton and Birmingham v Chelsea games in the 6th round.
