Sept. '60 release, with Sandy Nelson on the drums, and Kathy all of 14, competing somewhat with Rosie Hamlin.....for me, some great memories of that period.

Thanks for posting this - a great way to compare the two versions. The right channel (which you have designated Version 2) is the original single version from 1960. The left channel with the added lead guitar (which you call Version 1) is the version you hear on all the re-releases today.

For ALL you audiophiles who love perfect sound, if you want to create a TRUE STEREO version of a song, take two (2) existing MONO versions that are the same song but different instruments such as this song, allign ‘em as perfectly as you can through different pitch and speed variations, the trick is to make each different MONO track alligned to be perfect in sound and the flaws are least noticeable, you can perform this through different sound programs such as Sony Sound Forge Studio and Sony Acid. If this can be done better, please comment below, as I’m continuing to improve my own personal music collection.

I get a nice spacious stereo effect by just putting a 35-40 ms delay on one channel, but this sounds even richer.

I think it's great that technology now allows these mono recordings to be given a dose of stereo separation. I'm wondering if the original recording was done multi-track, as many were by 1960, and even earlier, though issued only in mono.
