It was a rollercoaster season. I felt the pressure and anxiety and trauma all the characters went through. ESPECIALLY in the kitchen it gave me memories of me being a cook. What a good show
I really think that his brother didn't reject him, but saw his potential and didn't want him wasting his ability in this mom and pop shop. In the end, with the unaliving and all, it's those talents and passion that keep the shop open and breath air into the family. Ultimately, it was good intentions that weren't understood and created a rift. That's what's so compelling about this show IMO.

After watching the season, I posted the exact same question on Facebook. When I did post it, a bunch of people commented how much they also loved it. This is easily one of the best shows of the year. I think one of the reasons people don't talk about it is because it's not a "water cooler" show. It's not like Stranger Things, where a bunch of action and catchy one liners and pop culture characters are crafted. It's a show whose characters feel incredibly realistic and the greatness of the show lies in things that you won't typically engage in conversation about with others. But I haven't heard from anyone who's seen it that says they didn't like it. I really can't wait for season 2.
The realism is definitely something I see brought up a lot in regards to the show and like you said, that's where it really hits. I'm hoping word of mouth will help build up the hype for the show and the next season bc I'm excited too!
Great analysis! I think one of the strongest points in the show is how well done the characters are. Each character feels realistic and also so distinct, with so many different kinds of personalities we don't often see on screen. I think Sydney might be one of the best written black female characters ever! This was such a great show and I'm surprised not more people are talking about it-- so glad you made a video about it!
I was pleasantly surprised by The Bear! Awesome show. Between that and Shorsey, I was so happy to find two new shows I not only could tolerate, but also really liked a lot. Also the Patient on Hulu looks pretty awesome too. Great vid btw. (subbed.)
I'm excited to read that there's a season 2 planned. Really enjoyed the video and I feel that re-releasing (or slightly modifying?) this video as a RECAP after season 2 comes out would perform awesome for your channel!
They should have released one episode per day, instead of all in one go. I think it would have helped immersing the audience into the "new day, new shift at work" aspect of the story. Maybe even release 5 episodes at first, give you two days off, and then the rest after the "week end". Or even better, after five episodes released each day, they should have announced that the next episode will be released three days later, only to release it two days later unexpectedly (because I can't think of how many times I had to interrupt my days off after being called in for work 'cause someone didn't show up).
great review...the show broke in the middle of awards season, or awards voting season.....hopefully they make up for that next season....this show beats most of whoever won this year
I almost feel like people aren't analyzing it in the way they do other films/tv, because it felt like a story you just know about in life? Like it's so personal you don't want to talk about how it felt going through it? There's not necessarily action sequences to break down. There's no cgi villain to say either looks great or horrible. It's tight and succinct in its point. You're not on anyone's side. In a way there's nothing to talk about, because it is what it is. And it's good tv!

I disagree at the 10:14 area. Carmy does snap! No question. Sometimes that how the kitchen operates. I Chef and I snap as well. From my experience it’s how you handle the evening afterwards/on going from that shitty moment. Congratulate your staff from the HELL on a evening. And DO NOT carry emotions. Once you leave the doors... it should be gone. New dayz tomorrow
I've never been in a professional situation THAT intense so I can't speak from experience but I can imagine trying to keep your cool during a shit storm is is insane.

Why? Because we are saturated with enough content every day to last any one person three lifetimes. Because the entertainment industry is like a Hydra, you cut on head off and two more appear, you get done with one show on Hulu or Amazon and three more pop up! It only allows us one or two days to be obsessed with a show and talk about it endlessly before the dialogue switches to a new subject like a small canine with ADHD after drinking a latte with a shot of double espresso!!!! The Bear with its limited 8 episodes season struggles to find its footing because of it excessive sub plots and too much interpersonal conflict. Instead of concentrating on the main characters struggle to overcome his brothers suicide and fix the restaurant it skew sideways into the Mafia, drug dealing, family rivalry, the bread baker's quest to make useless pastries instead of great bread. Fresh baked bread, not outsourced bread is 50% of your Italian Hot Beef. Cooks are angry folks for sure, but would destroy these obnoxious cry baby cooks of this show before lunch rush hit.

That's a great point, I didn't even think about it that way. I assumed Michael's drug use had something to do with him pushing Carmy away.
