    Sometimes I see your videos and literally feel like I'm seeing my life through your videos, I have struggled with trichotilomania for years, the anxiety and depression, the noise over stimulates me and I got loop hearing ear plugs as well. I often wonder if I have autism I'm half tempted now to look further into it. Thanks for always being so open!

    No wonder I (also autistic) liked your channel so much. Thanks for sharing during all these years!
    I just went back to your older videos and watched THREE KITTENS, ONE TREE!
    In the end you are cuddling with your cat and when it shakes their you do the same a few seconds later. I think I do similar things all the time - Maybe this is a non-verbal form of echolalia?

    Love the matching colours in the background and the rainbow line around your chair :D
    I've worn earplugs during dinner for more than 10 years, I kind of want to stop this habit but I've made myself used to it. The sound of cutlery and the anticipation anxiety are very overwhelming

      I've found I can't wear them whilst eating as it's too loud... any kind. Airpods and music are good though.

    Comforting to know Im not alone being driven insane by sounds. At my old job they added "white noise" to the office and it sounded like screaming to me and would leave my ears ringing at night. Lots of offices have it. So many contemporary office trends (open concept, desk sharing...) are so obviously stress inducing. Its sad.

    Well, what do you know. I am SO glad those earplugs worked out for you! As someone who is tentatively self-diagnosed autistic (and definitely has social and visual-spatial disabilities), it's always lovely to see someone join the club and find this part of themself. So I adored your I Am Autistic/Neurodivergent video last year as well. Sending all the fondness my heart can muster. Cheers.

    You talking about the bodysounds! It's so true and I didn't even realise it was so important to me. For me the fishbowl feeling of (loop) earplugs is sometimes really annoying, but I still really like my loops!

    YES! I've been trying to put this experience into words. I'm not autistic, but I have bipolar, and when I'm having a swing, I get sensory overload in exactly the same way. I got a similar Bose headphones that does the same thing. I like that they also have levels of reductions, because sometimes pure silence gets to me as well cause I have some form of tinnitus.

    • @beckiejbrown
      @beckiejbrown  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did see the switch at. the time I bought mine, but was seeing mixed reviews. I also was tempted by individuals as were smaller than air pods. My ears were not in a good way last year... didn't want another big chunky thing in each ear going ahead. Think I made the right choice - nothing is as strong as air pods but they have their pros as they are. The engage ones are perfect :D

    So my thing is that I get super overstimulated by loud noises. However, wearing noise-cancelling anything freaks me out so bad! I use my sensitive hearing so much for navigating the world that I feel blinded if you take it away. Rather overwhelmed and sleepy than freaked out by being artificially deaf

    Everything you covered, I get it and can help.
    The noise-cancelling headphone, I have a tiny head so I've found skullcandy hesh 3 bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones fit and I just wrap a piece of tissues around the glasses arms to soften the digging in.
    My only thing with my loops is that I have to take them out when i'm eating, because I cant stand chewing noises.

    Loop Switch is my favorite! It's great for work when I have to swap between trying to focus on paperwork, and then listening closely to someone, and all sorts of other things. Those are newer though, maybe weren't out when you ordered.

    i’m excited to see the update! i got the bose headphones over christmas and have used them almost daily - but they have not become used more than my loops. i had asked for them for christmas because i’ve heard good things, and i especially wanted them because they have a green pair (i LOVE green; it’s a comfort/special interest color). i’m so grateful to have them, and they are the most comfortable headphones i’ve ever used, but like you said - they’re slightly big, and with wearing glasses it ends up irritating a little bit. that being said though i LOVE them and will continue to use them.
    and as for my loops (i have quiet and engage) i get most use out of my engage loops daily. i have oily ears so after a few hours or so i tend to have to clean them/wipe them off and reinsert because they want to slip out (not fully but enough where they’re not doing what they need to although i have had them fall out completely before - however i recently found out i probably had too big of tips on so that’d be user error).
    i also recently just bought the flare audio calmer. they’re interesting; they don’t block any sound out really whatsoever, just channel certain frequencies out? it’s hard to explain. they’re fine - if i’m not as noise sensitive on a given day i’ll wear them and it seems to help? i’ve only just got them a couple weeks ago so i honestly haven’t fully used them. the reason i like the idea of them is because i love to hum along to music and sound (one of my favorite stims) but when i have my engage loops in i can’t get used to my humming being louder internally. (i now understand why singers take earpieces out on stage/during performances lol). so i was able to use the flare audio calmer at work one day (all day) and didn’t feel super overwhelmed and could still hum along to the music playing! but i don’t see it being a permanent ‘solution’ just a ‘every-once-in-a-while’ option for days i’m less sensitive.
    anyways i’m really glad to see you trying to let yourself shine with stimming/accomodations/etcetera. i’m trying to do the same and fight my internalized ableism by not being ‘afraid to look autistic’ and/or ‘different’ because people have always seen me one way.

      Been considering getting a formal set made for kayaking as had a few infections the last few months. I can attach those to a necklace so I don't lose in the water. Wonder if that's the same for general ear plugs too? Can they be attached to something?

    Mostly it is other peoples' noise that I have an issue with; it always has been. Although it's also a case of being worried about the levels of 'noise' that I make. I may be over sensitive, but I know what I find uncomfortable; and what I deem as being uncomfortable for others too. [In my own experiences, at least].

  • @silviah4394
    @silviah4394 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I wear noise-cancelling earplugs because I have small kids and their screams drive me crazy. With the earplugs, I can still hear that they are crying, but I don't have that intense stress response. (I am not autistic but at least one of my kids is for sure - he has recently been diagnosed. And maybe I am too, but I'd rather not explore that avenue just yet). However, the plugs are also pretty uncomfortable as they keep falling off. So, I am on the lookout for something better.

    For me, sound is not as big thing for me. For me, it is tactile things. That way things feel. I enjoy wireless earbuds, too. However, I find the noise cancelling can causes pressure in my ears. The extra sound waves entering my ear I guess. I wear them with the noise cancelling off most of the time. I have to wear them a lot for work. OI get the inner ear soreness after a long time, too.

    On February 8th, Andrew Henry Cooper of New Road, Princes Risborough and owner of non-trading entity Daemonlinks Ltd was sentenced, having plead guilty to three counts of harassment. He was given a 12 week prison sentence (suspended for 24 months), an indefinite restraining order, ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work and fined £600 in court costs.
    The judge in the case noted Cooper’s threats of violence and that he had continued this behaviour for three years, right up until sentencing, classifying it as a category A1 offence.
    It was also revealed in court that Cooper had previously been cautioned for similar behaviour towards a partner in 2006

    I first heard about these at Christmas when someone else I follow got them for her husband. And I said I wanted to look into them for work. I have to wear an earpiece on one side, so I could only use one, but after getting a second job (that doesn't cause issues), I realized a lot of the problems I was having were due to sensory overload. I obviously need something that won't block out everything, but I need the noise level turned down.

    • @beckiejbrown
      @beckiejbrown  ปีที่แล้ว

      They definately turn the noise down.
      Not as strong as air pods or electronic cancellation, but a noticeable difference.
      At also does depend what noise needs cancelling. The best ones are the quiets, but the engage seem better for every day. Quiets help alot with noise in my home and the engage help whilst on the go and with people/listening to voices. I find when in the workplace, engage are the best.

    Can I just say… I haven’t watched your channel for YEARSzzz but I think you’re the person I watched a lot in my teen years… did you have trichotilamania ? And make a music video about the struggle with it? And another explaining it? Watching you again now I am sure it’s you!
    I think it’s you and I also have the same struggle.
    I am almost 30 and am questioning if I am autistic. I just was wondering if there is any link between trich and autism and I try to search you online and your first video is about autism!
    When we’re you diagnosed?
    I will look through your channel to see if you have done a video.

    Topic on public noises which blows my mind - UK as a country is very overstimulating for neurodivergents. Compared to going to a country like Poland where my fiancé is from, I actually feel completely normal because it's quieter, people are more reserved country when it comes to the public. There is no loud banter or loud people being obnoxious in restaurants or cafes.. I am completely okay. I should just move there so I can cope! :D

    I’m not sure how to describe it, so here goes: in tv shows and movies, sometimes they show a clip of a recording or a tv and you hear this high pitched squealing. It drives me insane. I also hate the sound of my heartbeat and I try really hard to sleep in a way that I can’t hear it.

    • @beckiejbrown

      @@beckiejbrown Sorry, that was a really bad way to word it. I guess I mean more of… a recording of a recording? If there’s supposed to be security camera feed, for example, or if they are showing a news report within a tv show. It makes this really high pitched squealing sound, like feedback or something.
