I’d been meaning to document my barbecue education for quite some time and figured there’d be no better way than to start from the ground up!
So, I followed ‪@jirbybbq‬ ‘s video to build my very first offset smoker for around $300 dollars!
    I used:
    54 cinder blocks 6X8X16 inch
4- 24x24 inch expanded steel grates
    4- 2 1/2 x 48 inch steel bars
    1- 48x48 inch aluminum sheet
    1- 48x48 inch plywood
I found everything at Home Depot except for the expanded metal grates. Link below the description!

Me sitting here with a perfectly good electronically controlled gravity fed wood and charcoal smoker thinking, “I need one of these! man this would be a fun project!”

Hahaha! Exactly I cut my teeth on a Traeger and I’m just not 100% ready to spend a bunch of money on an offset- so this definitely will do the trick for now! The process of actually building it may be the most cathartic part for sure though….
Until I cook pork belly on it haha

Love this! I'm trying to figure out how I can make a smaller one right now. I want to make one that is just big enough to cook 1 or 2 briskets at the most, and not take up my entire very small back yard. Like no bigger than the size of a regular back yard stick burner, only a couple hundred bucks instead of a couple thousand lol.

Thank you so much man really appreciate that when you put the charcoal and wood down once you start it do you cover it with a steel plate? Like a lid?

    • @NeenertinsBBQ

Also when you plug in the teltru do you just drill a hole? And let it sit or did you bolt it I. The back to make it stay?

Are you going to install some dampers to help regulate air flow? I think it's pretty important to help you hold and maintain temp.

Funny you should say that- I wrapped a piece of cardboard with aluminum foil to dampen the chimney and used an extra block for where the “door” opens (and just slid to cover ) when needed for the first cook. However it runs like a dream (mostly) wide open! I’ll make sure there’s a good visual of what I used in the next video! Thanks!!!
