Rosebud is one of my all time favorite songs. So stunning.
I love Big so much I got a tattoo that says “same that beats in me” …. the fear and sadness and vulnerability and ultimately forgiveness and recognizing how our parents can be so deeply flawed and it’s up to us to forgive the things even tho the sorry might never come and it doesn’t need to. And the innocent heart and having something beautiful within. Same that beats in me…. of course it’s literal dna but also the same heart we all have, the same capacity to forgive. I mean he goes from a scared young man to a fully realized adult in 3 minutes! capable of seeing his damaged father and all the flaws but also seeing himself reflected in that. And expressing real love and compassion and acceptance. I mean it’s brilliant to me.
I’m sorry I’m rambling but it’s a perfect song to me. Right down to the heart beat drum track.
Thank you for listening to this. It made my day. ❤
Aww I love that! I’ll definitely give it a couple of more listens xx
Little Bird is my favourite too! I love hearing this side of Conor. I feel like he's the literal embodiment of 'manmade sunshine' haha
Yes I definitely want to watch that!
Also dear Ashlena. I recently discovered "Conversations with a friend" in Conor's channel. I haven't watched all of these yet but wanted to. I loved the first video a lot. Do you do interview reactions? These videos are like an interview/conversations (like the title suggests haha) and I would love to watch you react to it in your channel, as I feel your love for music and your sensitive heart would enjoy them. Have a nice rest of the day dear.
Yes I’ve been told to check it out!!
Rosebud I still have on repeating :O
Thanks Ashlena! and Happy New Year to you. I get almost as much out of your NBT reviews as I do just listening to the albums "neat". Please give the Graveyard Whistling EP a review. There's a track on it called "Last Orders" that will melt you :)
I LOVE the visualizers to the DCC songs though! they are perfect for the albums worldbuilding
they call them lyric videos, but my vision is too bad to read the lyrics in those videos 😂 so i just look at the pretty backgrounds
Yes!
I love your NBT reactions and always look forward to them! Give Difficult Conversations with A Friend a watch, it's worth it!
I'll check it out!
Love's gonna kill you is just EPIC!! Very dark but what a melody........Honestly, after four albums and several EPs who actually rivalises with NBT? They just don't write bad songs
Gentle/sad is the way I would describe Conor solo songs. If you want to try other British bands, I recommend Biffy Clyro.
Nothing but thieves was once their supporting act for one of Biffy Clyro tours
I always enjoye your honnest reation, giving your point of view on lyric, music and vocal without never giving bad comment. I think that the quality of your reaction is making your chanel my favorite. Have a nice day. 🙂
Aww Celine you are too kind xx I really appreciate you
He was struggling with his mental health when he wrote these. There’s ‘Conversations with a friend’ videos on TH-cam where he discusses them.
Another nice first listening. Greetz from The Netherlands
Hiii! Curious about your username do you drive a Jeep? lol
@@ashlenamusic Hahaha no im serious that is my real name.
Whattttttt that’s an amazing name. I’m an actual Jeep girl 🥰
@@ashlenamusic thank you!!! I'll have to thank my parents for that name. And it was not easy to get three names as i'am one of a triplets. So yeah it could have been a worse name 🤣
❤❤❤
Why the lyric?. Because metaphorically his brain as a boy (hence the bike) has been removed from his person and is sat on some shelf in a laboratory, however is still conscious and sentient. It’s my first time hearing this song too. Not great, not awful.
Btw i've seen a lot of your video's. You really should react to KALEO with the album A/B. That is the real deal. Wish you the best
I would love to see you react to Hannah wicklunds new album ‘the prize’. Idk if it’s your type of music but I would love to see your reaction! (It’s rock)
My advice is to not take the lyrics so literally...
🤨
love yout honesty every time u listen to nbt. u teared my fav song on this album to pieces 😂(big) and im here for it. difficult conversations w a friend are so worth watching. conor is a very smart n soft spoken person and i dont think anyone can watch those vids n not love him n what he has to say. we all saw a different side of him. definitely worth watching in ur free time. now im gonna rewatch ur other nbt album reactions cuz ur my fav!!! thanks for checking nbt out, ure definitely my fav reaction channel!!
Aww thanks so much for watching all my NBT reactions and I’m sorry I ripped big apart lol
you were confused about brain in a jar which is totally normal, anyone would be if they don't know what he's talking about. the song starts with "im waking up for the very first time" and it's a metaphor for spiritual awakening. "the bike" is a representation of childhood and innocence.
like you read on the genius website, the song is about a theory of philosophy, which says humans are literally just brains and our beliefs are shaped according to whatever that brain is getting pumped with from our environment. "Brain in a jar, thoughts on a wire"
"Slimes running down this side im high up on a dusty shelf" i guess this is about how slime is running down from whatever is getting pumped in the brain.
the song throughout says "i can sense the lie, am I even me?" like he can sense that whatever he's told to believe/feel/act is a lie and not his own thoughts and he questions if at the end he is even himself or a product of society.
"when we're feeling happy, not really feeling happy. we drip-fed all our happy. pumped like newborn cattle. i don't want to be stuck inside of here" pretty much the same message like he's talking about before, just in a more poetic way lol
