At their most recent setlist they did a medley of the Guitar solos from Ce N'est Rien, Gods and Number 13. It didn't need any singing, it was so hardcore it was incredible

I saw them for the 4th time last week, and I was so excited when I saw Number 13 on the set list. Disappointed that they didn't do the lyrics, but at least they played You Know Me Too Well, which made up for it somewhat.

This album really grew on me, and now I love every track. I originally thought "There Was Sun" was a bit too breezy and maybe about being on vacation (yawn), but then I heard someone explain it's about depression. So, knowing that, I have a whole new appreciation and absolutely love it. The "sun" is not being depressed, but then the "sun" goes away, and the depression moves in. This poor person feels nothing, wishes they could dream when they sleep, misses being able to do all the things they used to do, etc. It's worth another listen with this in mind. Oh, and Futureproof grew on me, and I love it so so much. Love the reaction!

Lovely reaction as always. I feel the need to give a little bit of context on this album. The year was 2020, the pandemic just started, everyone was confused, locked in our homes, yadda yadda. And my favorite band released a single: "Is Everybody Going Crazy?", what a fitting title for the times. I see you did not care for it too much but give it time, will grow on you, it also sounds very good live. Of course, at that point we were all buzzing with the possibility of a new album that finally got released in October 2020. Concert dates were tentative, then postponed and postponed again until they released Moral Panic II and only after they could start touring. Saw them in early 2022 during their European leg of the tour, masks were still mandatory (AND I had the pleasure and privilege to hear "Your Blood" live, it was a magical experience, got me almost in a trance like state). In the meantime, to keep the attention alive on the album, they promoted it the best way possible, with a series of "In solitude" videos, each band member in his own home, connecting and playing a bunch of songs, I highly recommend to watch the whole series, especially "Sorry" that is sung together with 200ish fans. Then there were other special releases like "Impossible" orchestral version in a live session at Abbey Road studios (this one definitely deserves a separate reaction/review), or "Real Love Song" in collaboration with Bucharest Symphonic Orchestra, the video is filmed in the location where NBT were supposed to headline Bucharest' Summer Well Festival in 2020, it was of course postponed until 2022.
I would not describe this as a concept album, but there are elements in it that show a change in direction for the band, many songs make us ask hard questions about ourselves and the direction this world is going to. DCC will be a nice follow-up, can't wait to see that reaction.

Yes definitely, I was there and it really made me love the song, it wasn’t one of my favourites on the album, but live it’s just so good!

Since you're exploring Nothing but Thieves entire catalogue I've always loved their cover of both Miley Cyrus song Flowers, of the Sean Mendes song "in my blood" and of the song "what can I do if the Fire goes out" by Gang of Youths.
Shaun mendes cover is tremendous and gang of youths is just perfection.
They have a live cover of Believe by Mumford and Sons in the style of Kasabian that they did on BBC lounge. That's amazing

So excited! This album for sure gets better with each listen. My favorite song of theirs is by far "Free if we want it", and i've heard its their own favorite song too. I only really "discovered" it a few months after its release and from then it got better and better with every listen. I have cried to it many times.
My 2nd favorite is miracle baby and it was the song i enjoyed the most when i saw them live
You have to check out their song "Last Orders" it is from the Graveyard Whistling EP (2014) - so early in their career but the melody and vibe and production quality - my personal favourite from NBT
First of all, I’m a little shocked that you don’t like Futureproof because it’s my jam lol. I agree about There was sun. Not my fave. However, I adore the rest. I can confirm that Real love song is INSANE live! They said the wrote it because fans kept complaining they don’t have enough love songs 😂They do put on the best show I have ever seen. (You should check out the solitude sessions!) Impossible physically hurts me live. So perfect. I would have given them all of my possessions for them to play Can you afford to be an individual and Your blood. That is one of the most stunning songs ever. They are even better live somehow. Conor is the most incredible vocalist I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live and I’ve seen Kelly Clarkson and Pentatonix lol.
Futureproof will be one of their classics for sure

This album is also gonna grow on you. Moral Panic is the last little known album they'll ever make. 🤘 I love the exploration of sound in their music. 2 more listens all the way through and you'll stop skipping. Impossible live at abbey road I think. Watch the video with the freaking ORCHESTRA!
Actually, they do have a much larger following in Europe. I'm in the US. They're just taking off here. Soooo awesome they are blowing up with the DCC album! They really deserve the recognition!
Yeah this whole album is "a grower" ;-) First I only liked a couple of songs and now I almost love them all. Must have helped that I saw them live for the first time during the tour of this album ❤
Really enjoyed listening to the album with you. The complete version must be how they liked the flow of the songs I guess. I enjoy the focus on the instruments. They become like separate amazing voices to me and really add tension and color to the songs. Especially in your blood - what a song! Love how they explore different musical genres and directions across their discography. I found DCC took me a couple of listens before I fell for it - because it began so differently - although nods to it in Moral Panic I think. Excited for your reaction to that in a couple if weeks. Love this band - they are imo crazily talented and have so much to express. Be great if you could react to some of their bts videos etc., as it is great to get a glimpse of them as people and their relationship as a group. Thanks for the reactions.

I find with a lot of Nothing About Thieves songs, and i get this with Muse as well, that a lot of the time the songs you don't initially vibe with end up becoming some of your favourites. Like i never used to like Phobia but now I'm obsessed
Same happened to me with "Moral Panic", hated the song on first listen. A few listens later and I could not get it out of my head, especially the chorus.

And also impossible - live at abbey road has a supporting orchestra too - both will melt you! I'm so glad you got "your blood" The stand out track for me on this album.

Please give this album a few more tries, but the standard version. The flow is SO much better. I started off with the complete edition and found myself skipping every single song that I later found out actually came from part II. Once I listened to the standard/original album, it was so much more cohesive and a much better experience. It’s now my favorite NBT album. Check out the track list! It’s just banger after banger, a journey through each style and a proper closer right where they intended it. I don’t miss any of the extra tracks at all!

Another NBT recommendation from around this album release was "Alone" a duet/ remix with Rag n Bone man
Rag n Bone man has a beautiful voice, his disfigured ep has some beautiful slower songs on such as "perfume"
We are blessed with some great singer song writers in the UK/ Ireland at the moment who do some beautiful slower songs

I think the whole album is a grower, I preferred the first 2 albums and "What did you think when you made me this way- EP"
I remember the first single of "is everyone going crazy" coming out just as Covid and the lockdown in the UK started. Most of the songs have grown on me and as always the acoustic/ classical versions elevate and put a new spin on already beautiful slower songs

Before we drift away was such an amazing ending for moral panic 1 and moral panic 1 in itself is such a top tier album I think the only songs I wasn’t a fan of was impossible and phobia
Also There was Sun is also my least favourite track but the first 3 tracks are killer but it does take a couple of listens to the album. These guys truly are genre-less & I think that’s what I like most about them. Also check out Live at the O2
This album contains alot of frustration that everyone was feeling in 2020, with the lockdown, antivaxxers and antimaskers, the US election, the death of George Floyd and the rise of the BLM movement. I related to the lines in It 'Feels Like the End' "can you believe what we are seeing?". Every day there were new terrible news and i just couldn't believe what was going on in the world. And when i heard "Can you afford to be an individual" for the first time i cried cause i really related to the frustration in that song. And i'm european 😂.
I will say the order of these songs are throwing me off, the way moral panic 2 is mixed in with moral panic 1. The songs dont really go together i think, if you relisten to the albums i would suggest listening to them seperatly for a more cohesive experience.

This album for needed a few trys to get into it at the start i think because they had a change of sound. This album grows and seeks up on you, as you start to connect more with the lyrics love the album. Nothing but thieves always seem to try out new sounds which is what they have done with welcome to the ddc. Check out sometime thing on my mind which they did with purple disco machine. Sorry for grammar 😂.

Oh wow, that’s so good and so hilarious! Conor’s trousers though, I just don’t get how someone so dinky has such trouble finding trousers long enough 😁
I didn’t get a notification for this one 😮 This is my least favourite album from them, although it does have one of my top favourite songs, Your Blood, which is even better live, Conor’s vocals are just so incredibly beautiful on that one. There’s a couple of others on there that I really like, Miracle Baby, Real Love Song (mostly for the ironic lyrics!) and Futureproof which is sooo good live, they prank the audience because it makes them laugh, and Conor does some incredible falsetto bits which aren’t in the studio version. I saw an interview recently where Dom said that maybe they tried a bit too hard with this album, and I tend to agree. Personally I think Moral Panic II was much better than the main album.

I feel that the album is better without Moral Panic 2 - it does feel a bit all over the place. I will say it took a while for this album to grow on me, but CYATBAI is epic. Love your reviews as always. PS Impossible live at Abbey Road is 10 x better than this version
They did some live acoustic gigs in the UK this year, definitely check it out.
