Cleaned shaved dark haired man is the deep voice
Yep!
Also wearing the black tie.
I just got a fake like, I know.
That's Richard Sterban he has a connection to Elvis. Check out the Oak Ridge Boys and Home Free singing this song.
Statler Brothers - (Counting) Flowers on the Wall
Once upon a time the Oaks were a gospel quartet
Two groups at the time with the same type of singing style. The Oak Ridge Boys, and the Statler Brothers. had a friendly rivalry going on. both have the a capella harmonies and bass vocals as well.
Mary Lou by the Statler brothers is a good one
Love both but my mom loves the Statler Brothers especially the Bible album. The man w/the deep voice on the SB died 🥺
@@mellycookYep, that's Harold Reid 👍✌️
Richard Sterban is the base vocalist. He is the clean shaved member of the group. He also toured with Elvis Presley in the 70's and part of his band. The groups of 4 is usually a quartet. There were 3 well-known groups in the 80's, the Stamps, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Alabama.
I wore this 45 out. My favorite growing up. Then Bobbie Sue also. Love all Oakridge Boys songs.
My grandparents played this for us as kids because we loved the lyrics and the deep voice. We would try to imitate them but I was 7 or 8 so there was no hope 😀
when this song came out in 1981 when I was 14 my mother loved hearing me sing the bass verse as my voice was changing into that deep bass at the time & I can still sing even lower than that now ✌💖☮
The base singer's name is Richard Sterben. He is the cleancut brunette. Singing lead on the song was Joe Bonsall, the curly haired man with the mustache. The man with the longer hair and beard is William Lee Golden. The 4th member, and usual lead singer, is Duane Allen.
Back in middle school, there was a particular girl who had a serious reputation for getting around. Her name was Elvira and as cruel kids, we would sing this song as ‘El Virus’.
Home Free did this song with Oak Ridge Boys. 🔥💯 collaboration
nothing to do with the song. but back in the 80s after the late shows there was a TV show that showed horror flicks of the past. called Elvira's Movie Macabre, or Movie Macabre with Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. the shows host "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" was a type of comedy spoof, before and after the comercials. it was more entertaining than the movie. the fore runner of Sevengoolie, and Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Love song was my favorite from them.
Oak Ridge Boys were straight up a COUNTRY BAND!!!
This one brings back memories. Love the bass. Thanks for doing this one.
You be losin the ol lady my friend!Wow! what a yahn!...This is a classic tune brother...still sounds pretty good...Best wishes to you n the Missus...
They are a great group
I was a little boy when I first heard this song. I still feel like a little boy every time I hear it.
My jam when i was a kid 😂
The Oak Ridge Boys are Joe Bonsall (Tenor), Duane Allen (Lead), William Lee Golden (Baritone/Long Beard), & Richard Sterban (Deep Bass/no beard). They have been singing as the ORBs since the early '70s. William Lee & Duane go back to the mid to late '60s. Dallas Frasier wrote this song but the Oaks cover in 1981 made this song famous. They started as a Gospel Quartet in the 1950s before any of the current members were in the group. Although they've always sung Gospel Music they went predominantly to Country Music in the early '70s. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame & The Grand Ole Opry in the last 10 years. Great group !!!!!
They started as a gospel quartet in the late 50’s early 60’s! Love this group!!!! Try Sail away or Y’all come back saloon!!!! The bass singer Richard sang backup for Elvis!
Actually, Elvis bass man was J.D. Sumner, who also holds the distinction of having the lowest human vocal note ever recorded in Elvis' 'Way on Down.'
@@bwilliams463 JD Summer was with the Jordanaries!
@@gmoneyman65 The Jordanaires were Elvis' backup singers for his whole career.
@@bwilliams463 Sorry but Elvis also had J.D. Sumner & the Stamps and The Imperials as back-up groups. Richard Sterban sang in the Stamps quartet before joining the Oaks.
@@glennstirling1151 They also played for Johnny Cash
Do the Home Free version of this song (don't worry, these guys sing with em!)!!
Good ol' four part harmony, quartets. Makes for some beautiful music and harmonies.
I'm glad you're feeling better.
Barber shop quartets 192s 1930s I believe
Love it!!!!
Back in the day at bars in Dallas people would stop dancing and everyone would sing!!! Was a fun time!
Love me some Oakridge Boys! Check out 2 of their songs that are Fire! Dig A little Deeper In The Well, and Bobbie Sue. Super lit!✌️
What the Oak Ridge Boys had that no other harmony group had was - according to their own testimony - bass singer Richard Sturbin. They recorded a beautiful ballad in the 70s called 'Dream On' with Richard on primary vocals. Check out their surprisingly-good cover of '7-Nation Army.' One of their saddest songs, 'I Guess It Never Hurts to Hurt Sometimes' about death and loss can still bring the sweat out of my eyes.
A more upbeat - but rather obscure - tune is 'Come On In (You Did the Best That You Could Do'), which reflects on morality and salvation for sinners who at least tried to do right in their mortal lives (part of the confusion here was that they had a great big earlier hit with a different 'Come On In,' so it has to be looked up by its full title).
For Gospel, it's hard to beat the Oaks' 'Dig A Little Deeper In the Well' and 'Just A Little Talk With Jesus.'
For a time during the 80s, long-bearded Bill Golden left the group and he was temporarily replaced by Steve Sanders. Golden came back to the Oaks after Sanders committed suicide. A song in which Sanders has the primary vocals is called 'No Matter How High I Get' in case you're curious.
Oak Ridge Boys started out a gospel group
My mom got my cowboy hat signed by the long bearded guy when I was a kid, when my parents went to a large country music festival that happens locally where I live, in the middle of nowhere.
They are awesome!
You need to hear their Thank God for Kids and Come on In! Country to the Bone and I love it!
Speaking of Home Free, they did a cover of this with The Oak Ridge Boys that's worth viewing. The two basses get together and steal the song.
The singer with the deep voice is the one without the facial hair
Glad you are checking out this great country band. Elvira was a huge hit for the ORB in 1981. You need to check out the collaboration they did with Home Free for this song "Elvira". The Oak Ridge Boys had a lot of hits. Check out their fun song called "Bobbie Sue".
This brings back memories of Friday nights at the skating rink.
The Oak Ridge Boys started out singing Gospel.
They’re a Quartet, but it’s the clean-shaven black headed guy who sings bass.
Always been a fun one..😉🤣🇺🇸
At one time this was a popular song for line dancing.
Richard Sturben, bass, used to be one of Elvis's back up bass singer. They ARE one of the best gospel groups. Richard also was considered the GQ of country. The Oaks and the Statlers were the biggest in their era, both country and gospel.
the guy WITHOUT facial hair is the bass singer.
The bass Singer of this Quartet is the guy with the short black hair
Richard sturban with a black hair on the right of the stage He's with oak ridge boys from cliff Murphy of Yakima Washington
The guy singing bass is the clean cut guy in the black suite next to the guy with the long beard.
Love these guys. Next up, BOBBIE SUE, & AMERICAN MADE.
You could be thinking of barbershop quartets from the the mid-2oth century.
Maybe the next country artist you will listen to will be the great Jerry Reed. His songs will leave you rolling on the floor. Try these, SHE GOT THE GOLDMINE, I GOT THE SHAFT,
WHEN YOU'RE HOT, YOU'RE HOT,
& LORD MR. FORD. Enjoy.
Oak Ridge Boys were a successful southern gospel singing group before going secular.
The one with mustache and curly hair is the lead singer. Check out them with Home Free doing this song.
Oh that girl she saw oh my she saw
Dig a Little Deeper in the WELL.
I can’t answer your question about where it started, but my grandpa and his brother would sing gospel music and grandma played piano. Grandpa had the deep voice and he wasn’t very big, so I don’t know.
Did y'all like this? Nostalgia for me, plus listen to that bass singer. And that cool name Elvira. Hey, you were right about the church feeling, uhm hm, yeah started out as gospel group.
Now its in your head. You'll be singing it often. And trying to hit the low notes..lol
The guy singing base is next to the guy with the beard. They are country music singers
It's not the guy with the beard. It's the guy in the white suit. They were mainly a gospel group with several crossover hits.
Apologies if already said...Now watch the same song from Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys. A great update and 100% acapella.
I fell in love again last night that's the makaya sisters they are so awesome
There’s an old cassette of me singing this around 10 years old. It was my favorite song and my grandma recorded me singing it.
Do Neil piertt drum solo he’s the drummer from rush one of the best drummers of all time as a drummer you will dig thjs
Atlanta rhythm section they have a song called Champagne champagne jam yes
ya gotta listen to ''''if You Wanna' Get To Heaven"...oak ridge boys
can you do a reaction to Lord Have Mercy on my Soul by Black Oak Arkansas
Yup. Brady is right !
The oak ridge boys are Richard Sturben Joe bonzal Duane Allen William Lee golden Richard Sturben is the bass singer
its the one sitting on top of the passenger side seat near the driver
The name Elvira comes actually from two words meaning “elf + counsel” 🤔
Now that you have the original Ya'll need to hear the version The Oak Ridge Boys remade this with Home Free. It is worth a listen. No, it isn't the tall guy. Enjoy
Kip Moore hes got a song called beer money BEE your money BER money beer money I got a little beer mine and kept more
So, if you guys see the pic of them at the 4:50 mark, it is man #3. Not the bearded guy.
Do you remember Elvira, Mistress of the Dark ?
Yes! Glad you mentioned it or I would have.
You'll hear this song referenced in a lot of jokes.
I remember Family Guy referenced it in a cutaway.
Look up Elvira, mistress of the dark. Or something like that.
They were considered cross over gospel.
The singer with the deep bass voice is the clean shaven guy, not the guy with the beard.
Quartet
Willie Nelson and Wayland Jennings good hearted woman that's the song good hearted woman willie Wayland
It's Richard sterben on the right side of the stage he has black har 0:17
Nope the clean cut guy in the suit with the short back hair sung the deep voice.

Eric church got a good song homeboy homeboys the name of his son
Love you guys but I got to say still can't hear you guys that well if I turn down the volume to hear the song. Just saying. I would watch a lot more of you guys if I didn't have to do that❤️
Home free did a collab with the Oakridge Boys with this song. They are still living. It was great. You should take a look but do the official video!😊
I just came here to look at that pretty woman you got she's so nuclear she's awkward she's beautiful
If you think the bass singer is always the big guy you should check out the old Ernie Haase and Signature Sound group with Tim Duncan (not the basketball player) th-cam.com/video/sKzi4A1ldxE/w-d-xo.html
You are wrong.
The guy with the beard plays a very small part & isn't really needed.
Thats so wrong. The beard guy William lee golden is the baritone and you dont notice it untill hes gone. In this song indeed hes not noticed but the baritone is the foundation of the 4 voice parts of the singing. Baritones are mad uderrated. They are The foundation of a gospel group. How your baritone sounds dictates how you sound together. Bass sticks out, tenor sticks out. Baritone blends in, why? Because he is the foundation partnered with the lead singer
Oh man I hate this song, lol. Overplayed on juke boxes in any given redneck bar.
Here's your Easter Egg.
Kenny Rogers and the First Edition did it years earlier. Yup, that Kenny Rogers, back in his hippie days.
Edit. There's something you don't see everyday, a black guy wearing a Led Zeppelin t shirt. Cool.
I didn't give you a like because I don't want this showing up on my TH-cam music playlist.
Back in middle school, there was a particular girl who had a serious reputation for getting around. Her name was Elvira and as cruel kids, we would sing this song as ‘El Virus’.
I memed this to myself all the time. I sang my hearts on fire for the Virus, for EL Viraaas🇲🇽
