My mom has a similar complaint with an all-in-one unit that goes through the wall. I think it runs the fan periodically to measure the air temperature, and her easy chair is situated too close to the air flow.
Thanks Curtis, this lady needs is a basic Thermostat, there easy to use. Mine is a digital control t/stst, which i use manually, i prefer to use it that way 👍 Au
My shop has one customer that over the years his dementia got worse and he will call my phone say something like "Unit isn't working right", i'll go over there and its working fine. Happened to other techs at my company with the same customer. It's a sad situation thinking that his dementia is getting that bad and he lives by himself. People like that need 24/7 care.
put a second hidden thermostat that actually controls the system, with auto heat/cool switchover. leave the other one there powered up so they can fiddle with it. of course care takers and close relatives need to know that and monitor/set it.
Ok I’ve been doing this for such a long time now one thing I’ve learned NEVER put a complicated thermostat on for these elderly people. It confuses them. Then someone has to go back and either just put a simple thermostat on that should have been done to start with, or try and educate them and hope and pray they get it. I realize they seem simple to us, the T6 ect. But I do my best to use a Honeywell pro 3000 or something like that. It’s easier to have a switch that sais heat, and cool ect as apposed to having to hit mode, or whatever. Fan on one way off the other way. I hate some of those thermostats for this reason. I ALWAYS try to keep it as simple as possible so I’m not running back and forth chasing Rabbits.
As we age we lose many neurons and this reduces our understanding of things. I keep lists of things and my son will do as I ask; but again sometimes he does just the opposite! lol
I can totally explain this girls issue if you've ever paid the electric for the AC and the gas for the AC you generally said it for like 74 it goes down to 73 72 and then I'm going to turn back on and go back and goes back up to 74 that's what she's figuring the system should be doing so she thinks it's just wasting a lot of freaking money which I kind of am kind of actually agree that the newer systems kind of seem like they do waste money because they keep it at the exact same temperature all the time you could easily set it to go down one degree or two degrees and go back up I don't understand that but I totally understand what she said but I don't know how nobody else gets that
We service p-tac units at the nursing home I work at ,and we cannot get people to understand that setting the fan to the on position, does not work with the compressor all the time, have to set the fan on auto to work with the system. Job security 😊
The home my MIL was in had p-tacs with heat and cool buttons (didn't switch automatically, but most of them don't). Unfortunately, she never did figure that out, and would just try to change the temperature settings, so her room would often be very cold, or very hot, during fall and spring.
All the more reason for thermostat makers to make their fonts bold or larger. Not everyone has perfect vision and not everyone has perfect lighting conditions for LCD screens. That condenser didn't sound too normal. Had a grunt or growling sound to it.
Just remember whether a person is sitting at a desk in an office building or in front of the TV for a few hours, their body temp will drop and any draft will make them feel cold. More so when the visiting son screws around with an unfamiliar thermostat turns the fan on continuous.
When our system was replaced a few months ago, we got a new t.stat just like the one shown in the video. We called our dealer and had them install our old stat which is a lot easier to use! (KISS applies).-
Who pays you for that call? Looks like an apartment/condo type residence. Landlords won’t be happy to catch that bill I would guess? Sounds like the mother and son called. Just curious C Dog. Thx
".....I know I didn't misunderstand you...." That's southern polite speak for " You didn't tell me the truth". 😝
I really enjoy your channel. I have quite a few "user error" service calls too. Thermostats are HARD........
This is a LOT neater home than some you go to.
That’s why I like regular non programmable thermostats
Thermostat manufacturers need to use the KISS rule. “Keep it simple, stupid”
Its called using the "Hold" mode, fan on Auto and the Heat/Cold slider, which is what we use exclusively.
Amen read my comment

This lady’s home is very neat and tidy. She seems to be managing things.

They make a digital version of the T87 every one of my old people love them because it just like the old mercury ones, lowers the confusion

I leave the Furnace Fan on LOW in both Heat and Cool Modes 24x7, 365 days. Fan Motors are made to Run, Not Shut Off, On, Off, On. 🤔👍
That house does not look like the ones you normally service😎 is too clean 😂
You could almost be a policeman with that knock; must deal a lot with the hearing impaired. 😊
I want to make sure they know I’m there
I laughed at that; very loud .

Jason, Adrian, and myself say Hook'em Horns! 🐃🐃
Hmmm 🤘
Big game tonight, yes, with my Longhorns. I live outside Austin. 🏈
Georgia has the potential to win. I’m just not sure it’ll be there.
Congrats on the win. Did not think the horns would lose they bad, oh well.

iD-10t error
The older people get the more confused they get and start pushing buttons and I know cause my mom does this and complains something is broken
But why was the chair green? (Is that what she said?)

Apartment Complex. I don’t even respond unless they call me.
