VH1 Classic Transitions To MTV Classic - August 1, 2016

- On August 1, 2016, VH1 Classic played its final music video after 16 years on the air. The final music video to air was "Don't Talk" by 10,000 Maniacs.
At 6:00AM ET, MTV Classic signed on with the signature space shuttle launch as the original channel did 35 years ago today. The first hour of MTV Classic was the first hour of MTV from August 1, 1981 with VJ segments and most '80s commercials included.
VH1 Classic is now MTV Classic!

Not exactly. They air 80s and 90s music videos, you just have to wake up early enough. I believe about 5 or 6 am to see a lot of the good stuff
Sure, they air either so late or early that very few can see it. It's prime time when they air the worst.

I think they can’t bc MTV launched in 1984,so they can’t show a 60s and 70s

I've seen the lineup of daily programming and although they still play music videos and concert specials on there but now they are once again injecting their non-music crap of reality shows too and so we all know what that means.
In time,all the classic music videos that we enjoyed over the years when it was VH1 Classic will be gone and it'll be just another MTV channel of wall to wall of their reality shows episodes.
Well,it was fun while it lasted,screw you MTV.

Umm... Idk if you were looking at the wrong channel but I never see any reality shows when I look at MTV Classic on the guide.
MTV Classic does not have any reality programming (although they do advertise the shit on MTV and VH1 frequently). In fact, it doesn't even have any of the non-music programming from the '90s anymore either - it's 100% videos, broken into either decade or genre blocks. And God knows I've been watching it nonstop in this quarantine.

same. i like that Daria and Beavis & Butthead is aired, but its not often enough. and always at night when i'm sleeping or falling asleep while trying to watch (lol).
Looks like I'm not the only one who thinks MTV Classic is not doing too good. I actually find MTV Classic disappointing. The problem with MTV Classic is they're airing the 8th season of "Beavis and Butt-head" (and not seasons 1-7) and other lackluster programming like Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, Clone High, The Hills, etc.
The only good shows they got are Daria
I'm trying to remain hopeful, though. Hopefully the ratings will show that programming changes should be made, and those in charge will do so.

This is Bullshit everyday before school I used to blast it on my TV I was 13 and it was where I watched all my concert videos at night and I lovedddd watching Pop up video but NOPE MTV ruins more shit for me.

I agree 100%. I feel the same about nickelodeon, and other channels that they should come up with. Viacom is just buying everybody out.

They need to add VH1 classic back but still have MTV classic. Because all of the garbage we see now is reality crap.
They don’t even play shows anymore. I enjoyed seeing Daria & The Real World while they played music on the side but not 24 hours a day & it’s mostly the same 80s-90s rock music that they always play. I have no problem with them playing music but they need to stop being redundant & start playing shows again it felt like an actual channel when it first launched now it’s just boring & unsurprising & the channel was good before all this
You don’t get it. Wall to wall videos is what MTV was before Daria or Beavis or the horseshit they feed you now. It was just music.
I don't like MTV classic. I wish I did. It has a lot of potential but they are missing the mark.
