I have made the decision to switch career field out of corporate HR and fulfilling my dream of being a RDH. I have the opportunity to begin dental assistant school within a few weeks if I choose so to get started quicker. I do know assisting is not my desire but what do you think of getting started with the program and completing some coursework first to help leverage me for a DH program? Or just complete the entire assisting program then move into DH?
Congrats on chasing your dreams!! If the DH program you want to get into doesn't look at previous DA experience, you're not gaining any leverage so research your options first to see if it makes sense. If assisting isn't your passion I don't see a point in doing any, let alone an entire programs worth of courses before going into DH. I have no DA experience and that's the case with the vast majority of my class.
@@_TinaWilliams thank you sooo much for responding! What you said makes so much sense. I have noticed here in my area in VA that most of the programs being offered are all for assistants so I am now on the hunt for other locations that actually have a hygienist program.
You are what I needed! Thanks for this information. I am 28 and I am just now going back to school to start pre-requisites as well. It is truly never too late! You said that you were an air hostess before school. Do you also work part time while in DH school?
Devry,Ati etc are technical schools and normally not accredited definitely stay away from them
Thank you for talking about your journey I’m 32 and I’m happy to hear this
