Dee Brown was a dynamic point guard with a quick first step, nice mid range game & a pesky Defender who can disrupt an opposing team offense. His acrobatic AND1 layups brought a different element to Celtics basketball that, quite frankly, had never been seen before. I watched his whole tenure as a Celtic & I can say he left it all on the floor & he truly bleeds green. True Celtic Captain. Now let’s talk about his Hops. His one of the few players in NBA history who at 6”1 catches lobs in a half court offense. In EVERY GAME. Dee hadSerious bunnies & we haven’t seen a lil guy dunk so often in decades. Maybe since Steve Francis. Dee brown thanks for the memories. And also thank you to the uploader for this incredible vid paying homage to a severely underrated player. Now let me watch the vid. I’m only 1 sec in lol
91-92 Celtics was one of those teams that had a great mix of veteran presence and youth that I feel gets overlooked because of their relatively modest success compared to their dominance in the 80's. Great video on someone who was a good roleplayer on that team. Would love to see Matt Harpring or Danny Manning in the future.
Bird was on his last legs and only played 45 games that year but still put up 20, 9 and 6 a game, Reggie Lewis was in his prime and put up 20 a game as well.
I don't even think I should comment anymore but one last time I guess.......... FANTASTIC! Thank you for your time and hard work. Great video and awesome subject.
Dee Brown before his knee injury was a insanely athletic guy. You mentioned he was quick but he was fast too. Was hard to keep up with him racing down the court and the guy had crazy hops as well. Like the one clip you showed where he blocks the shot and has to avoid his head hitting the backboard and looked like he almost touched the backboard with his back shoulders. The no look, face in the inner elbow dunk is also HIGHLY understated. As a kid born in the early 80’s growing up I tried this dunk (of course on a lower goal😂) so many times and it’s not real easy if you legit do it like he did. Someone tried to replicate it in a recent dunk contest and guy didn’t even do it till after he’d dunked the ball😂
Dee Brown was exciting to watch. The only weakness I bet saw in him was the injuries-never his size. Two way player, after the dunk contest win he definitely proved he was a complete player. Thanks for giving him his flowers.
I remember telling people around me, that Dee Brown was a better player than the Celtics gave him credit for. Boston really underutilized Dee Brown. I am not even a Celtics fan, but I have a habit of studying different players.
Dee Brown was a GOOD player, watched all the games he played with Boston, nice, steady point guard with a nice jumper. He'd race up and down the court like the-FLASH.
I was such a fan of Dee Brown and that era of the Celtics with Dee and Reggie Lewis. Dee was the reason I got my parents to buy me some Reebok Pumps and played in them all the time. I grew to be his same height, but none of the athleticism or long arms.
Tragedy deprived us of a Len Bias/ Reggie Lewis/ Dee Brown Celtics trio in the 90s... Not to mention a past his prime Dino Radja. The mid 90s Celtics were pretty abysmal, but as a New England kid, they were my introduction to the NBA and acted as my season pass, as I watched nearly every game.
I wish someone would remaster all of these old 80s era NBA footage, it's all grainy AF and unwatchable in some cases. Dee Brown was one of my favorite 2nd tier type players, had some solid numbers some seasons!
I wish Dino had come in 89...The Cs may have been able to get one more with him in the rotation. Radja was no joke...the man was cold with a ball in his hands
Dee Brown is a great choice for a forgotten and underrated player profile. I think Walt Williams was under utilized also. He would have thrived in today's NBA with his deadly 3 point shooting. I hope you profile him at some point. Great job on the profiles, by the way!
Love the page! Not sure if you take requests, but an interesting player from baseball could be Bobby Bonilla. He is more known now for getting hispayment from the Mets every year, but he was one hell of a ballplayer too!
For his height Dee brown was athletic in basketball not many at 6’3 and below can be that athletic to dunk in game or be versatile in dunking packages.
As devastating as the deaths of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis were Rick Pitino set them back another decade with his horrible moves as the gm. He got rid of David Wesley, Rick Fox and Dee all very good players who would have fit in perfectly with a young Antoine Walker. Not to mention him drafting his former Kentucky shooting guard Ron Mercer who most knew should not have been taken that high and trading Chauncey Billups thirty games into the season. Pitino era was an absolute disaster.
Also missing out on Duncan in the draft lottery when they had the best chance of getting him with two picks. As a Celtics fan I get sick to my stomach thinking about that era.
A big what if is why it took so long for Dino Radja to come to the Celtics as he was drafted in 89. Didnt arrive until 93-94 when the Cs are already fallen off. Would been huge help in the 91-92 season. Also Chris Ford was not a good head coach may have stunted Dee Browns development as he played a lot of veterans. Back in those days until Pitino, it was any coach coming from the KC Jones/Bill fitch tree.
You are fishing on this one. Dee Brown was quite a disappointment for a Celtics fan. I guess you could say unfulfilled potential but it was more like he just was not at the caliber of his peers at his position in the league. Journeyman.
Ok.tell the truth.dee & wife was at a bank.the 👮 said he fit the description of someone who robbed a bank in massachusetts.you & hom is trying to down play that.smh.excellent player for the celtics.😎
He was better than people remember but his dunk in the dunk contest was so overrated! Covering his eyes was to me was not very impressive! But hey it’s iconic to this day so it worked
Nah bro..I can't jack u on this one ...me personally I never liked his game and never favored him or his game in any aspects, even dunking.to me he is just a novelty and a mascot type player instead of a game changer, real skilled or winner.
@@8301TheJMan I'm sorry bro I just didn't see it or regard him that way .if u liked him or think differently from me I have no problem with that.what I consider good or great may be different from your take on it.ge was a bum to me if u want me to keep it real so.ple and plain.
@@erablaktv fair enough. There are tons of players that get heaps of praise that most people would agree with, however i simply never thought they were nearly deserving of half the praise they got. So yeah, good point

I still Got that Dee Brown 1990-91 Skybox Card the No look Dunk.
Your choice for players to focus on is great. Much appreciated, as always.

Yeah, that team was really good. They could play fast and slow paces.

One missing piece they could've signed from overseas as they draft and stashed a few years back- Dino Radja. Would been huge help in the early 90s.

Lets make one about Vlade Divac!
Somebody should redo his winning dunk if someone hasn’t yet
