    Thanks for showing the correct “Budget” way to do this job. Fresh rebuilt 2.8-3.4 cylinder heads are about $230 each online. LA1 van needed new head gaskets, and I’m lazy, so she got fresh everything. I’ll look forward to a 4.3 conversion if that is the way you go. I had a 2.8 manual transmission Tahoe S-10 in high school, so I’ve been looking for a base Camaro 3400 intake manifold to build a LA1 S-10 someday.

      Yeah I've been kicking around selling it since I never drive it. But if I don't imma either save up and do a 4.3 swap or v8 swap. If I do v8 I want it to be clean and done right no chopping no deleting things I want it to be like it is now just v8. Still have air still be columb shift stock guages work all that. I just don't know whether to do LS or keep it old school but I want it to stay fuel injected

      She is such a survivor, IMHO her originality will make her worth more in a few years than most any swap. There are rust free examples here, but they are beaten half to death. The 2.8 will get you there, and is not too bad on gas. Someone like me will want their high school Blazer at some point if you ever go to sell it.

      @ryanfoster9863 I mean I'm open to offers ha. I can always do a walk around of it. Imma fix the ac and replace the door window seals first though they are cracked from age otherwise everything works great on it

    Man thank you for including that sleeve part.. you are the only info I could find on them anywhere even in manuals. They ripped out my old seals with them and I thought I’d never get the new ones in like that, didn’t know they could come off of the spring

      No problem. Glad it helped my videos aren't always the best but nice to see they help a few at times

    I appreciate this video a guy selling a rwd with the 4.3 needing a valve seal so this was helpful I really want to get one. They’re nice trucks but I figure I check the level of hassle beforehand thanks

      The 4.3 seals are like exactly the same to do they just don't have that weird sleeve that goes around the seal just the spring. But yeah easy to replace

      @@SethsBudgetBuilds thanks man. Good luck on keeping that blazer alive

    Sweet , not bad . Actually a lot more simpler than I thought it's not too bad I guess to do that repair just time consuming and yeah the TBI 2.8 have way more crap all in the way lol
    My 4.3 in blazer needs valve guide Seals too , she smokes on cold starts

    • @SethsBudgetBuilds
      @SethsBudgetBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh it's horrible got a hard steel line over both valve covers you have to remove to lift the valve covers. And the passenger side you also gotta remove the coil like omg lol. The most difficult thing is re adjusting the rockers again cause you have to do so many then spin the engine and do more. But yeah super annoying to pull valve covers on that engine haha. Getting to the manifold bolts was easy though cause it's so skinny

    • @SethsBudgetBuilds
      @SethsBudgetBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I did the engine work on my 93 blazer I did valve seals on it they are super easy as well. And easier to pull valve covers haha. And if yours in a vortec all you do is torque the rockers and your done no rotating the engine and doing then a specific way which is handy.

      @@SethsBudgetBuilds Hmm yeah and that coolant crossover pipe that goes to the back of the intake below the throttle body it goes over the valve cover on the passenger side I think that was such a stupid design you have to remove all that and all that crap yeah the ignition coil and vacuum lines just to get to the valve cover .
      I like how they improved on gaskets for the 2.8 you can get a valve cover gasket from a Pontiac Fiero 2.8 and valve covers and have a way better sealing versus the cork type
      That's what I'm gonna be putting on my 2.8 I'm swapping in my truck .

      @KnuckleHeadGarage27 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now that's interesting my 90 4.3 is regular 4.3 tbi but my gf hers is the CPI 4.3 spider vortec orange letter style .
      That's one thing about 2.8 I hate hate is that dumb thing of setting the rocker arm nuts so everything is adjusted just right. That i don't wanna ever touch lol

      @@KnuckleHeadGarage27 yeah I just replace the gaskets for now I'll probably leave the stock valve covers on it

    When I saw the power steering pump, I went "woah, they used the Volvo power steering pump!" And then I remembered that Volvo used a GM pump...

      Haha yeah that's a pretty common pump. They are reliable hard no use them ha. I've never had one go bad

    Hey buddy. I sold my k5 now I'm picking up my dad's s10 blazer 1988. What's a good lift to look for think 3in body amd maybe a 2-3inch suspension. Thanks.

    • @SethsBudgetBuilds
      @SethsBudgetBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly there isn't a good lift unless you straight axle swap them unfortunately. They have a lift you can do but it drops the front diff and everything down and it's just pointless at that point cause everything is still low to the ground. S10's kinda suck when it comes to that

      @mannydircio2210 the lifters should be fine if all you did is the head gasket just re install the lifters in the same exact spot you removed them from as well as the push rods . I've never pulled the lifters out of this engine but have on others
