so with out the typical becket and wedge on the dead end of the cable what do you do when you have to shorten the cabe because of a bad spot close to the end?
It’s amazing to see mobile cranes with a luffing jib’ I remember thinking the one that built the Boyndie wind farm was the coolest crane of them all.

If u damage the rope and shorten it you get a new end machine fitted to the end if rope is still long enough
