  • Repair of this Keith Dudgeon (KD) Ktulu English Willow Cricket Bat.
    The playing surface of the bat had delaminated (where the harder pressed surface comes away from softer back wood). This is often really difficult to repair fully.
    This service includes:
    Half refurbishment - Removal of old facing. Extensive repair of the playing surface. Clean off of all sticky residue.
    Course and fine random orbital sanding, fine and extra fine hand sanding.
    Application of new toe guard.
    Protective facing.
    Recorded on iPhone XS and Canon 650D.

    Nice work mate - in the past I've had success getting under some hard to reach delamination by watering down some PVA glue, syringing (not sure if an actual word) it in where I can and standing the bat in a way that lets the glue work it's way into the hard to reach area by itself. Might help you get under another tricky one 👍👍

    Hi mate. I've got a few questions. First of all how did you make the bit for the drum sander? And then what glue did you use to apply the toe guard? And what was that tool you used to trim the toe guard down? Last one, where did you get the polishing wheels for the bench grinder? Thanks very much, I think you do a great job👍

    Which Glue are you using?

    • @BatandBallCricket

    • @BatandBallCricket

      Trade secret mate... 😜
      If you use acetone on a cloth, just a bit, than wipe over the areas, polish than do the same you’ll find the facings stick much better. If you can leave it overnight or for a few days, this helps too.

    • @sudhirhinge
      @sudhirhinge 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BatandBallCricket no more secret 😂 I do use acetone to clean up the sticker glue. I was wondering if you had better quality face tape that sticks after oiling. I have seen the guy at Fantail applying sheet immediately after oiling so wondered. Thanks mate! Love your work

    How long do you leave the clamps on for

    • @BatandBallCricket
      @BatandBallCricket  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally I try to leave it overnight (10 to 12 hours) but your better wood glues set a bit quicker.

    how long do you wait after oiling to put a scuff sheet back on and whats the best way to get residue off after getting the old scuff sheet off????????

    • @BatandBallCricket
      @BatandBallCricket  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Liam. I generally don't wait and use acetone to clean off any excess oil before polishing and applying the new sheet. But if you have to wait, give it about a week.
      I use a couple of tactics to get rid of the old residue. Heat and a scraper works well. But then i use White Spirits and cloth/cotton rounds. White spirits is a bit like mineral turpentine.
      This video was a good example of the process i follow removing the residue - th-cam.com/video/wmDQZbuuhfM/w-d-xo.html

      Can i oil the bat ???

    • @BatandBallCricket
      @BatandBallCricket  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kanhaiyapareek1265 If you're intending to put a facing on the bat, you don't necessarily need to oil first. I'd generally recommend you do oil and knock the bat before putting on a protective facing. In which case, after you've oiled your bat, you will need to either clean off the excess (the oil can prevent the facing from sticking correctly) or wait a few days for it to soak/dry.
      Here's a good explanation video of how to prepare and knock in a new bat - th-cam.com/video/NXmEyxqzVUc/w-d-xo.html
