      @@DavidGordonJDXi Now I feel really bad for asking this but regarding digital synth 2 on part 2 you got a really nice smooth sound while mine is kind of bland, did you use any effects or mastering or maybe switched the portamento settings? Again I'm sorry for asking but I cant figure it on my own and it sounds so great I just had to ask..

    • @DavidGordonJDXi
      @DavidGordonJDXi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lloyd, thanks for your question. I've just been checking the sequence on my JD-Xi and as far as I can tell, I used the default Syn Brass 1 voice for that part (238). I compared the part in the sequence with the default and it sounds identical to me! On my JD-Xi, this voice has reverb, delay and Effect 2 is set to flanger. The flanging time is very long. i.e if you hold a note down, it takes a few seconds before the sound changes. There is quite a lot of delay and reverb too. Also, I've just noticed that it's set up one octave... I don't think I mentioned that in the video. Hopefully, this may do the trick for you. All the best, David 👍

      @@DavidGordonJDXi I know, I have one and have created more music in the time I've had it than in the last 30 years. I'm always blown away by how similar the pre-sets can sound, to the original songs. Obviously there are limits but its an amazingly versatile synth.
      I'm very impressed at the work that it must have taken to do something like this, not sure I'd have the will power myself. I'm going have to check out some more of your videos now.

    Hello David, very good job, crystal clear to me. I've just done it from your video, using a DAW (Cakewalk by Bandlab)
    on a MiniNova (Bass C043) and TD-3, both for the bassline (to add a tad of growl to it) and a Behringer RD-6 for the drums.
    Bonuses are both TD-3 and RD-6 have what sounds like a Boss DS-1 distortion onboard ;-)

    • @DavidGordonJDXi
      @DavidGordonJDXi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, sorry to hear that you're having a problem saving a programme. You shouldn't have to delete any unless you have used up all the available memory slots. All of the user slots start at location E01. Make sure that you're not trying to save to one of the factory presets that start at A01. Hope that helps. Let me know how you get on? All the best, David 🎹🎶👍

    Hello David, I just wanted to let you know you have the greatest highly detailed instructional videos. So much detail. I'm not a keyboardist but think about picking one up. I like this crossover synth with all its functions. I haven't seen anything like it at it's price point. I am interested in the IK multimedia uno pro keyboard similar but I don't think it has drum tones. I just subscribed to your channel looking forward to more videos like this.

      Hello Preston, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great comment and subscribing to my channel, it's very much appreciated. I have been very pleased with my JD-Xi, it is such a versatile little instrument as you've probably seen in some of my videos. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone heavy handed as it's build quality isn't that great and I've heard of people breaking keys. I mainly use mine to program sequences and any playing is done with the key velocity off. Hope to make some new videos soon. All the best, David 🎸🎶👍

    Hi David, just love the vids and all the info in them. Question, since im not a pro on the JD-Xi. You use favourites for the sequenses, the are as i understand mapped to saves patches in the banks right? When you have say the drums all alike, can you copy a patch/sequense to a new, keeping the drums, and do changes to the other instrument? Hope you understand my question :)

    • @DavidGordonJDXi
      @DavidGordonJDXi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Yes, you can. For example, if you create a sequence of synths and drums which you save on G1, you can save the exact same sequence on G2 G3 G4 etc. You can then edit the synth parts or drum parts accordingly. The nice thing is that any changes to the tones/filters etc will also be saved. Many thanks for commenting 👍 All the best, David 🎸🎶👍
