This looks like a great surprise Christmas Eve gift for the family. The fact that you can swap your "1" coins out for a "5" coin when you have enough, really puts it over the top!
Note that when playing with grandparents you sometimes need a less complex game as well. My longsuffering parents are willing to try lots of games -- but I do see they definitely lose interest as the complexity increases. (And the length of game increases).
Your son is adorable! Your family is very fortunate to have you as their father. As kids, I'm sure they love your chosen profession! Thanks for the review! I have Everdell and Spirecrest and look forward to collectiing them all. This one looks good for my nephew, who has his own shelf in my collection. Have a great weekend!
Tavi is hands down my favorite board game reviewer. My likes seem to align with his so I'm sure I'll enjoy My Lil Everdell. Thanks Tavi for your in-depth review and thoughtful perspective.
Regular Everdell game always looked a bit too busy for me. I may actually get your as someone light to play with the wife! We are a bit like kids at heart. Also, this video makes my wife and I want to have a kid! Love the relationship you have with your son. Many blessings to you and your family! Great video!
While I do think this game is great for kids. This is a great game for non-board gamers as well, to initially expose them to the hobby. If it’s your first time playing a board game that has worker placement, additional rule affects on cards, etc. This is a really great starter game.
I haven’t played Creature Comforts but I heard that it’s a long game. If you are playing with kids under 10 years old any game over 30mins might be too long to capture their attention. At least that’s the case with my kids. They like games that are 30mins or less.
I wonder if this needed some more thematic connection to engage kids in what cards they are getting vs. relying on kids to be jazzed by being strategic. How does this compare/contrast to the excellent Creature Comforts in your estimation? I know you’re really familiar with that game. Did your older daughter like this one or did she find it too elementary?
Hi, Happy Hanukkah, I can't stop thinking this game has a considerable similarity to "Creatures Comforts". Am I wrong ? Is there a reason to own both ? Thanks
For 6 year olds? Yeah, no! It's a money-making lie they have been accustomed to promoting. The publishers and designers of Everdell had an excellent game with the base game; however, when they saw the Kickstarter $$$ they were raking in, it quickly turned into a money-making machine and a bloated mess of a game. And this is coming from a fan and backer until I received the Big Box Collector's Edition. While token-punching, sorting, sleaving my Big Box I finally realized "what is this mess?!". Now it is sitting tucked into a closet (not even a part of my game collection shelves because of its insane size) waiting for the day I have the time to sell it off.
would be good fo 4-year old ? yes I know every kid is different - so I would put it in another words: would have your cool assistant been able to play that when he was 4? :) any other simillar game for 4-5 years old? thanks :) ps. cool movie

I found it to be unwieldy.

This is so cute! Love your kid’s explanations.
Love it when the family does a review! Your minis are adorbs!
Your son liking the pirateship and the jail cards because they are "realistic" is absolutely adorable.
They are very thematic cards!
I see that the boss has finally made an appearance. It was great to see an authentic review from a younger person's perspective.

Thanks Stacie :)
He's so wonderfully cute - you two are a wonderful start to the day! Please tell him he has a fan out there.
This was an excellent surprise today! Looking forward to this! I think it will fit our family nicely!
Hello little Prince.
Always lovely to see you.
:)
I don't follow along with your videos as much as I used to but keep up the great work. I like that your family all plays games as well. That's so fun.
Tavi - thanks for the review and for sharing your thoughts! It’s great to have the 7 year old perspective
I could see Lil Everdell being the aperitif game of the evening.
Thank you! I am seriously considering getting this for my family.
LOVE his New Yorker accent and attitude from the look of things.

I think I would prefer this one over Everdell because it fits easier in the table and takes less time
This is adorable, your mini me was excellent!
Always nice seeing a Tavi review.
This is the best video you've ever put out (obviously because of Tavi)
Need more reviews like this!
Many adults that aren’t hobby board gamers may like this. I’m going to try this over the holidays for all the young at heart.
A comparison to Creature Comforts would be interesting.

Watch out. In a year or two your little man will take over the channel.
that's a family game that definitely will hit my table.

Your best video ever!!! Your son is adorable.
Yes!!! getting this for my 6 year old daughter :)
Terrific Tavi 👍🏽
I'm at PaxUnplugged and I am interested in grabbing this at the TT kiosk. Trying to get a table to try it has been hard.
My baby is still too young. I’ll wait for this to go on sale and store it for a few years. 😅
Sweet my favorite content creator
