    This works great!
    A couple of tips for others to improve the farm to near zero loss and general efficiency.
    1) Use single track hopper minecarts for the entire farm. Having them on alternating sides means no repeaters.
    - I found about 20-40% of the bamboo was being left on the ground as the hopper minecarts didn't have enough space. (and my testing farm was half the size of the videos)
    - This makes the farm way more expensive (more than doubling the amount of iron needed)
    2) Having the hopper minecarts stop on blocks with hopper minecarts in them, dramatically decreases the unload time of collection.
    - This makes the farm way more expensive (more than doubling the amount of iron needed, again), and one block taller.
    3) It can be shortened to 9 blocks wide, and not need the glass blocks on the edges if you take an output from the machine leaving or whatever clock you have it on, instead of using the observers to "see" it pass. P.S. make sure the blocks at the height of the farm are leaves or similar, otherwise it'll break.
    - No real advantage to this, other than fitting it in a smaller area, or making it more pleasing on the eye.
    4) It takes a piece of bamboo about 3 minutes go grow by one (at RTS: 1). Resulting in 30-45 mins for full growth.
    If you want a clock, that's about 5 cycles of a 256 item hopper clock.
    Otherwise you can set up a couple of despawn timers one after the other, might be easier to sort out.
    5) Don't have random tick speed to high, if a bamboo grows in between the flying machine can break.

    • @samsimeoni4581
      @samsimeoni4581 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @YggdrasilAE simply because if you have one cart per track, then there's almost no chance that they are going to overfill. With one cart for two lines in my experience it led to a slight loss.
      Having said that, if you want to save on iron and redstone, this loss isn't something that is going to ruin the farm, it was 5-15% if I remember correctly, but with the quantity of bamboo the farm produces, unless you have furnaces running 24/7, it should be more than enough.

    • @r.and.r

      @danielfitzgerald8514 why would you.. bamboo doesn't grow faster if it gets taller. There's no harm in harvesting every 5 minutes or so. Harvesting sooner also means you don't overflow your hoppers.
      I don't really understand why people want to grow them to full height? A harvest doesn't actually cost anything.

    If you are still using this design like I am, there is a small but fixable flaw in it. If you are running it and it suddenly stops and you have to go in and get it started again, remove three rows of bamboo from where the observers are. Whats happening is that the bamboo may suddenly grow up in front of the observer while it is moving away or towards it causing a change in block status that basically turns off the flying machine. Its not much to lose over all, but it will prevent the flying machine "getting stuck" or "stopped randomly".

    Still works, very nice flying machine! FYI if you make this smallish, and use the Ethoclock to AFK harvest, then Silent's minecart system is probably overkill. I made mine chunk aligned and only two chunks long such that the flying machine never leaves the two chunks (i.e. the two leaf platforms are inside the chunks too). My Ethoclock has 5 full stacks, but the bamboo only grows about 2-3 tall before the flying machine fires. So, one single minecart looping around under the whole thing only really ever half fills on a harvest. You could probably make this four chunks long and one minecart would still be adequate before bamboo despawned. Having one unloading station saves some resources and build complexity. However, if you harvest with a button rather than a clock, then you'll want Silent's minecart system because the bamboo will be very tall creating A LOT of drops!

    @isaacto8761 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for the idea and demonstration! I just made a small version of this, worked perfectly. By small I mean the bamboo growing area is just 13x3x16 (minus the area to put in the machinery to get the flying machine working), chunk-aligned. This way I can add a small circuit to set the flying machine in perpetual motion. Because the growing area is so short, I can add enough glowing pumpkins right above the growing area so that the bamboo grows 24x7. As there is no sudden surge of harvested bamboo, I just have a row of hoppers sending the harvested bamboo in the minecarts to a collection area (for me it is a dropper that fires whenever it is non-empty, with a guiding pillar dropping it to the fuel input of a furnace through a double chest). It is not impressively fast, something like a bamboo every 2 seconds on average. But because there is no need to switch anything off any time, it is very useful. You just do whatever you want in your area be it mining, farming or building, and after an hour or so when you come back you have more than 1k new bamboo waiting for you.
    For those wondering, yes it is in 1.17.
    By the way, the farm shown in the video needs chunk alignment, for the rails. Otherwise the minecarts can stop in the middle as you wander around loading and unloading the chunk, which is really painful to fix.

    • @justinparry5197

    • @isaaclearningtominecraft4751
      @isaaclearningtominecraft4751 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justinparry5197 Kinda yes. They extend from the walls and are right above the flying machine. But it is not a complete roof, I only have one row of roof every three row of space, and only have 4 pumpkins for each row (the remainder are some kind of stone). This way if the flying machine stops in the middle (yes that happens, but not frequently) you can walk above it and fix things by manually triggering the observers of the flying machine.

    • @ammarahmed219
      @ammarahmed219 3 ปีที่แล้ว

It’s a little tough to put together, things will likely break along the way if you’re not really careful, but if you follow silent’s steps exactly you’ll get there. And keep trying. You’ll learn from your mistakes.
    Couple tips for beginners like me. 1) Don’t forget to replace the solid block on top of the observer after you put together the hopper timer. 2) The machine is designed to work with a delay due to the hopper timer, so wait for the items in the hoppers to go fully back and forth a couple times before you declare the machine broken. 3) If you use the minimum number of power rails then beware wild animals and wandering merchants can come along and push your mine carts under the bamboo, where they can get stuck, which is annoying. So try to cover everything up with glass or leaves early if you can so nothing can get at the minecarts. 4) Use power rails at the end of every track, not just over the hoppers, so the carts will be sent back to the hopper side when the red stone powers up. 5) For the last track (the one that’s a single row) put a power rail with a red stone torch next to it at the far end opposite from the hopper, so that the mine cart will return to the hopper when it hits the block. 6) If you get things working, turn off the farm every time you leave the area. I left it on and when I came back the machine was broken (though it only took a couple minutes to fix).
    Thanks for the excellent tutorial Silent. I used this farm to create enough bamboo buttons to put together your creeper farm, which is also excellent. I have more fireworks, tnt, and scaffolding than I know what to do with, and I’m over level 200, thanks to you!

    tl,dr:
    about 95k bamboo in 20hours afk
    (~4.5k per hour)
    alright alright
    i finished building this thing yesterday.
    btw you can plant bamboo on mud blocks and simply put hoppers under the mud.
    that way you dont need any of the rails or hopperminecarts.
    basically build one layer of just hoppers, then one layer of mud on top. thats it. (items that are dropped on mud get picked up by the hopper)
    i noticed that the bamboo takes about an hour to grow really tall. about to the limit (i think bamboo is 12-16 blocks)
    i hooked the flying machine up to a hopper clock that triggers it every hour.
    after one night and a normsl workday i just came back to exactly a full double chest of shulkerboxes of bamboo. thats 93.312 bamboo if my math is correct.
    thats INSANE. lol.
    absolutely worth building.
    only thing that gave me some struggles was the flying machine. it was my first one so maybe me being a noob was the problem.
    it broke a couple.of times because i messed up the timing of my hopper clock.
    when you send it flying with just a button like in the video everything should be fine.

    Make sure to turn the machine off when you are going to leave the area, i left mine on and it messed with the moving part and kept it still in the middle and i had to rebuild it.

    It still works and you can easily make adjustments to the flying machine for the width and stuff so it's good

    I build this farm on 17/04/2023 on minecraft bedrock 1.19.60 and it works. But make sure the slimes arent touching any leaves or just blocks. So make it so that the flying machine is floating in the air. Also when the machine suddenly stops its because the bamboo grows right in between the terracota and the sticky piston when the flying machine flys past. Just place a redstone block on the furthest observer and it works again.

      Do the same exact thing but add water for the sugar cane every where needed and the rails go where there is no water, add leaves over the top of the water.
