I have an update to these plants, I planted them up into 1 gallon rootmaker pots in only 2 months, check it out at th-cam.com/video/XzQSxPepVgc/w-d-xo.html

This definitely beats buying the same plant over again. Propagating or divisions is very easy. I do this with my sedums, Hostas, daylilies, astilbes & ground covers.

We live in Florida. Have tried so many times to divide my liriope but they seem to not do well. A week later several willl turn yellow and pull right off the root. The ones that live will be non-uniform. Some will grow like crazy and others will just sit there. Even tho they are all basically in a mottled part Sun part shade. I tried dividing the good ones year after year. They looked amazing for 1 week until several died. Finally, in disgust, I ripped them all out and put in a garbage bag. My soon rescued them and planted in the back yard. They love it back there, somewhat uneven but better than thefront. I'm tempted to try one last time...

Is there a reason you don’t just plant them in the ground? Why do they have to be in the 4inch pots first? I would love to do this but was hoping to go straight to ground.

The reason for putting them in pots first is to let the roots grow out some after the shock of being divided. Occasionally some may not survive being divided. If you wanted to go directly in the ground I would suggest maybe only dividing them into halves or maybe into quarters and the would have a better chance of survival straight into the ground.

My liriope plants have extra long fronds that produced a white single flower - is this a weed? /garlic that has invaded ? When I pull on these lighter green fronds they pull out easily with a white bulb like end ? Am I pulling out a propagating liriope or ???
